Authentic, delicious Korean food. If you are Korean, or are familiar with Korean food but don't see the dish on the menu—ask. My hubby and I enjoyed a dinner for two ($40) called Samgyeopsal-gui (Grilled pork belly). So yummy! It came with rice, soup and an array of Korean side dishes.
The location and aesthetics of the restaurant are not fantastic but the prices and taste are well worth it!
If you enjoy Korean food..this is it.
Clean food, tastes great and authentic. Not much ambiance, but friendly service. Busy, busy restaurant., lots of Koreans so you know it's good.
Kimchi is tasty, tasty !!
Homemade Food, Charming Service, Moderately Priced. I'm guessing it's been a five years since I've had really good Korean food. A lot of places no longer bestow upon the diner the full array of sides, kimchi, pickled and spiced vegetables and marinated tofu. San Chang Korean House does not hold anything back on variety, quality and portion. The costs per meal may run around $15-$25, but it does include the main entrée, sticky rice, and up to nine small sides of spicy, salty, savory delectables that I happen to genuinely enjoy. The relish selection is wonderful: cabbage kimchi, bamboo with hot sauce, marinated cucumbers in red chili relish, freakishly fresh bean sprouts with sesame and sweet peppers, thin sliced fish paste with green pepper, shredded potato with carrot and vinegar, zucchini with onions and red chili, and daikon radish in rice wine vinegar. Everyone of them was refreshing, crunchy, and incredibly satisfying...I love that stuff. I tried the fried chicken strips drenched in a sweet and spicy soy marinade and served sizzling on a hot plate that sears brown the bottom of each piece. It is tender and crunchy, and contrasts well with the spicy sides. The highlight of the meal was the house made fried pork dumpling appetizer with a green onion and chili soy garlic dipping sauce. They are plump, loaded with a moist cabbage mixture that is thoroughly laced with fresh black pepper and green onions. They are bursting with flavor, cooked perfectly and a must try on the menu. With my hot green tea, my bill was around $23, which is not bad considering they do refill any side and keep the tea and sauces fully charged. The atmosphere is rustic, and kind of homey. The combined experience is memorable and well worth a try. Be adventurous and try some of the Korean BBQ options as well. This place is the real deal.
Decent. It wasn't bad, but it didn't blow me away. I enjoyed the pork bulgogi. Most of my food was too salty for my tastes, and it was really expensive. $26 for two people for lunch, before tip.
Awesome But Way Over Priced. Love the Korean ribs (kalbi) and the side dishes but for the price they want you can get the two orders form L&L Hawaiian Barbecue and its way cheaper and may just taste a little better. Sorry San Chang but your cost is way to high for the food you serve.
Very Good, a little overpriced though. Very good, service is excellent...a little overpriced
Not the best I've ever had, but definitely the best in COS. There are some tailored menu items that are for the American taste, but some traditional specialties are also present. Kimchijigae and Dubujigae are among the best.
Pretty good.... Not the best Korean food I've had, but good enough to eat there again. Kalbi was very good.
Good. Possibly the best in the Springs. Kimchi chigae is great, and the little side dishes are fresh! The cook/ owner is always gracious and he always attempts to come out and say hello when he has a chance.
Nom nom nom. I first found this place a few years ago, and in that time I've not found a single location here in the Springs that even come close.. There is a rather large menu to work with but you get get the best bang for your buck at the lunch special.. The dinner meals are great too but the bill can be a bit higher than expected because of all of the extra side dishes that come with the dinner meals.. The kimchi is second to none as is the kimbab. Personally, I recommend the beef buulgoogi... Trust me on that one..
This is a great place for Korean comfort food! I don’t need fancy, just authentic and delicious. The side dishes were fresh, plentiful and generous. We enjoyed our staple dishes that we usually order for our family and they even gave us extra bowls to share. I love when service goes beyond like this. The chef even came out which really shows how much they appreciate and care for their customers. We will definitely be back!

I've been a couple times before and it was always on off hours, but today I went and was happy to see the place bustling.
I got my food to go and the lovely lady- I wish I caught her name- helped me practice some Korean and was very kind even though I struggled a lot.
Overall I love the food- and the way they bundle it up to go is so genius cuz you don't miss out on the awesome side dishes- and I enjoy coming, even though I can't afford to go as often as I'd like!
I'm so happy to see the quality has not changed and the people are so friendly! I heard the staff speaking both Korean and English to the customers so it was a bit of fun immersion.
Definitely go for bulgogi if you're unsure what to try! It's a big favorite for me. ^-^
감사합니다!!!
San Chang is very good and just incredible for Korean food, my family and I have been going here for about 20 years and they never disappointed me once 😊 they are top notch for Korean food so I pray that they will never close down. 😢
I lived in South Korea with the military and I love this place. If you want authentic Korean with all the flavor this is the best place in town. The atmosphere is pretty drab, but the service is good and the food excellent. If you want real Korean food in Colorado Springs, go to San Chang House!
Stopped by for lunch today. From other reviews, it seems the owners certainly take pride in their cooking.
I ordered their spicy beef soup, Yuk Gae Jang and my wife ordered their Bulgoki lunch set. The taste of the korean side dishes are skillfully balanced (although some may prefer stronger or milder seasoning or flavor), the korean rice was gelatinized and cooked perfectly. My spicy beef soup was served with shredded beef brisket, whisked eggs, sweet potato noodles, rice, and when complimented with the refreshing side dishes, was a very hearty meal regardless in cold or warm weather.
I believe the dining area has seen its better days. If you don't mind fancy ambience or seeking a food-plus experience, for the price and food, this is a good mom and pop to try.
Food is on point! I’ve been to my share of K-BBQ places and the quality of this place is right up there with the best of them. The Kailbi was so tender they must have marinated them for days! The beef bul-go-gi was flavorful. The Spicy pork bul-go-gi, always a family favorite, was well seasoned. The Banchan (side dishes) were tasty as expected. Although I initially wanted to cook it myself due to habit, I was happy to let them do it so I could enjoy the taste. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Even the chef came out to pay our table a visit which I thought was a nice touch.
The atmosphere is basically a hole in the wall, but if they keep providing tasty K-BBQ favorites, I won’t care.
This place never disappoints. Sooo much food for such a great price point. I and the hubby have concluded our Black Friday day with a stop at San Chang House for the beef and pork bulgogi with steamed rice and the fried dumplings. He had the spicy pork bulgogi and I chose the beef, non- spicy. Our favorite part if the meal is the plentiful sides and of course the sizzle from the meats when they are brought out. The staff is as always fast and courteous no wait for water refills and pleasant conversation.
So it's not the fanciest but all are kind
The food you can not pay for better. No matter the dish. They can elevate the spice but is served with just enough to enhance. Nothing you order is ever bad or off. Ultimately deliciously made with proud loving Koren authentic care and Pride
Thank You
Nice quiet mom and pop kind of place. Fantastic short ribs, bulgogi and sides. Service is excellent and friendly. Best Korean food in town.
The food was good, although nothing to write home about... I think I'd try bulgogi somewhere else before I'd return here for it. I'm not sure what was up with the weird vent hoods over several of the tables. The pink booths looked like they were from the 80s and the tops of the booths had purple slipcovers over them. The ambiance is definitely nothing to write home about! The service was good and the staff was friendly. Overall is was a good lunch but it didn't impress me enough that I would want to return.
