Reviews The French Kitchen

For me, a good baguette is an indicator of a really great French bakery or boulangerie as they say in France. Unfortunately this place falls down. The baguette traditional did not have a big open crumb. In fact, it was quite dense. It was only slightly better than what I can get at King Soopers, at almost double the price. I can’t speak to the rest of the baked goods, but the baguettes really fell short. ***update to this review. I went back today and bought a fresh baguette and was pleasantly surprised. This one indeed had an open crumb. Crunchy exterior and good chew. I think I must have just had a poor one the day I stopped by. See pic of my own amateur on the left and the French kitchen on the right. Although pricey, if consistent, is the best I have seen in Colorado Springs. Close to what I have in Paris. I give them 5 stars.

Amazing! I will absolutely be back! Overall, amazing! Fun atmosphere, great service, and tasty good food! Would love to try the cooking classes! The bread is amazing, and I’m certain every other pastry is as well (self-discipline was the hardest thing once I saw the pastry rack). Jennie was an amazing help and a quick wit. Got us exactly what we needed for the egg sandwiches we were going to make (as promised Jennie, picture attached; They were so good!)

I love the quiche! Also, the cookies are awesome! We bought some pizza dough as well and made our own pizza a few nights ago, pretty good! Their cooking classes are also amazing. My daughter did a few last summer. The owner is very attentive to any concerns. I edited this review. It previously had a few issues that I mentioned ( I still had given 5 starts) and the owner gave me call to rectify the situation. I didn't feel that was necessary but appreciated the gesture. We highly recommend them and will continue to go back when we are close by.

This is a great bakery but like everywhere else the prices are just too expensive Almost $5 for a croissant is a bit steep, in any economy. The chocolate croissants need improvement. The chocolate is not spread throughout the inside of the croissant; just situated in one hard lump in one section, which makes it not enjoyable to eat because you get all the chocolate in one bite and then the rest of it is just a plain croissant. Please fix this because I do like your bakery and please fix this because I do like your bakery for the most part.

Hoping the kid cooking class will be offered again in the near future! We will be coming back if they are. Otherwise we are signed up for the rest this year has to offer and will take advantage of the remaining ones. Thank you chefs for a wonderful learning experience! My daughter has helped with dinner almost every night since taking the knife skills class.

Frozen galric bread, when reheated it was soggy and stale. For $10. The owner did reach out to offer a refund, which I appreciate and while my experience has not been good, that does not mean it can't be in the future, so I changed my rating.

Stumbled across this place after hours and swore i would come back to check it out. Well worth it. They have a huge array of food and even have cooking classes. The ham and brie sandwich was amazing.

This was such a wonderful and fun experience. Blondine is an amazing teacher and chef. I plan to go here again personally and with my wife. It’s an amazing date location too. I am so grateful for this place. I learned baguettes and dinner rolls.

Phenomenal desserts and food, and the people working here went above and beyond! I visited very early in the day and wasn't ready for dessert, however I was able to preorder what I wanted and return to pick it up before they sold out. The person was extremely friendly and accommodating and even brought the dessert out once I arrived later in the day. The food and people are both great, if you are in the area, please check out this place that makes such phenomenal quality products!

I had a quick brunch at French Kitchen recently and got a bunch of different items to go. Everything - eclaires, desserts, seasonal tastes - was delicious and fresh. I'm from Europe and I wouldn't say that Napoleon was a real Napoleon but it was delicious, too. The only thing that I would have liked to be improved is that the place doesn't have a feeling for the price of its goods. Our coffee and foods were served in disposable cups (coffee was leaking) and plates and plastic forks were bending an breaking when used. When I pay almost $10 for a dessert, I'd like my stuff to be served in proper dishes so that I can enjoy it like I do in other places. Otherwise, great food!

we really love this place! we used to go all of the time before they upped their prices a couple years ago. unfortunately feels a bit overpriced now, but we still love stopping in for a treat now and then. definitely the place to go for the most quality pastries in the north end of colorado springs.

This is probably my new favorite bakery type spot! I got a few different things on the menu: the TDF croissant, a cretzel (croissant pretzel) and an opera cake. The croissant was so good I stopped midway through to write this review. There’s a fridge section at the front for take home food and larger cater type portions which I thought was cool, and the store offers cooking classes in a kitchen section on the side of the building! The atmosphere inside was so nice, bright and cheery too! I can’t wait to come back and try the croque-monsieur !

The bakery items here are always good. Queenets are a super yummy. Caramel is my personal favorite. The Chocolatine is also really good. This was our first time inside. It was modern and clean feeling. The service was rather slow, but we did order hot food items. The cooking class room was being used and I was impressed with how nice it looked inside. There is so much to offer here. Lots of frozen foods too. Will go back.

Such a fun cooking class! French 201 was a blast and the food all turned out so well. Chef Jannon was a total pro. The class included tian de legumes, soupe de poisson, steak tartare, poulet basquaise, sole meuniere, lentil salad, and a cherry clafoutis.

I absolutely love this bakery. The pastries and bread are so delicious. They remind me of the pastries and bread that I had in Paris. I spoke with Blandine the owner and she is very sweet and genuine. She takes all concerns/issues very seriously. I did have a little issue this morning and she went above and beyond to make it right. I will be a customer for life. Thank you Blandine for giving us the experience to enjoy authentic French pastries/bread/food. :)
