Review Quijotes Mexican Grill - Colorado Springs

Jeremy Smith
This is my go-to for Mexican food, when I'm in Colorado Springs. I tend to get the same thing each time - Three enchiladas combo. I've also had their breakfast burritos and they are amazing and well priced! Over many years, their food has stayed consistently delicious! The margaritas are tasty, as well. The service is quick and friendly, and the prices are some of the best around for the amount of food that you get. Side note: If they say that something is spicy, believe them! I made the mistake of thinking I was a hero ONCE, and went all in. Mistake. Mild works for me!
Mike
I got the Quijotes burger with spicy chili. It was quite delicious. The burger party was probably a 1/2lbs. The spicy chili was just the correct level of spice. Service was quick

Been coming here for 9 years and it's been absolutely great every time! You got to try the homemade cucumber margarita 🫣

Probably the best breakfast burrito in town. The eggs were perfectly fluffy and the meats were there but not overwhelming. Outstanding!!!

Quijote's never disappoints. Casual and friendly, with delicious meals made from scratch, great margaritas, all at a reasonable cost. Their hot green chili is HOT, but a mild version is an option. The breakfast burritos are large with more eggs and meat than potatoes, unlike some places. Consistent over the years, with a very loyal customer base.

Solid breakfast burritos and our first time trying dinner. Margarita was awesome! Taquitos and tacos were enjoyable. Place had steady business but still had openings for quick seating. We will be back.

Love this place. Me and my husband go more then a few times a month. Prices are fair especially with the amt of food you get. We usually split a dish and bring leftovers home. Never got bad food and their staff is great.

*Editted because it's been several years since I was here last* This place is still amazing. I also am adding their current menu because their website is a little outdated on prices. Still ridiculously inexpensive and still delicious food. This is my favorite place to get breakfast. The meat-lovers burrito is delicious, and don't forget to get it smothered with green chili. They also fresh squeeze their juices, so don't skip the OJ. Super inexpensive, great service, and delicious home cooked food.

It's okay! Not bad but not great - basic stuff. Tasty but order spicy if you want lots of flavor. The service was decent but not impressive. We went for lunch and seems like a place for dinner and drinks. Looks like they have a full bar.

The food is always hot and delicious. Haven't had a bad dish yet. Top notch service. I recommend the Burrito's which are gargantuan. The prices are excellent for how much food you get. I definitely recommend..

Nothing was outstanding about this meal. Everything was good but not a lot of flavor on some dishes, me and my two friends were not impressed. Service was ok, this was our first time there and after they took our plates they left us sitting there with no check, after 10 minutes we asked for our check and were told we just pay at the register.

First time here. Had the Chicken Enchiladas plate. Very tasty and so much food for $9.99. I had them covered in their spicy chili sauce. Friendly service and worth the trip.
Mike
By far the best Mexican food we have found in the springs area. Steak combo was fantastic and the spicy chili was not so hot that I could not taste the rest of the food but the chili let you know your alive.

I love their food! The shrimp tacos are seriously amazing. SERIOUSLY. My husband and I eat there whenever we're in the area. I would give it a 5.0, but their margarita mix isn't my favorite.

Very good. I had the chili relleno plate. My only complaint is that there so so much cheese I had to scrape a bunch of it off. I know, you can never have too much cheese but it was a bit overwhelming for me. I will be back and ask for less cheese :}

I ordered a classic margarita on the rocks and it was great. For dinner, I ordered the chipotle burrito which was the size of my head... It was just okay.

So let me start off by saying the food here is out of this world good. Even my mother-in-law, who is the best TexMex chef I know, loved it. The flavors where amazing. Everything seemed fresh, and right out of the garden.

That being said, front of house needs a little bit of help. Not that it was bad, just a little slow, and unorganized.

What to try: Steak Combo ( so much food!), any of the chimichangas, the green chili

Great Mexican!. I had the Steak combo, so good.
She had the fish tacos, two thumbs up. Great salsa, uniquely goods queso. Wish I didn't live 3 hours away.

Great food. Been here for both breakfast and dinner, love the staff and food. Reasonably priced, and good portions. New fav Mexican food spot

Good service good prices bad food.. I ordered the chili relleno and , enchiladas I heard great reviews about the chili relleno but it was mush and the enchilada had potatoes. was probably one of the worst Mexican food restaurant I have been too. I really was disappointed. May try one more time because of how nice the staff was and the place was charming.

The very best authentic Mexican food.. Menudo here is Amazing. Huge serving. Come here and try the food, guaranteed you'll leave a very happy customer. Margaritas are the best I've ever had. Give this place a shot.

Fish Tacos. Excellent three big tacos, yellow, soft, tallapia fish and sauce.

Great food. My wife loves the menudo. She said it's the best she's had outside of homemade and she's Hispanic. Enjoyed lunch and we will be back.

Breakfast Burritos. Smothered in green chili

Very fresh food. Wonderful flavors. Disappointed with the lack of menu combinations.

Visiting from albuquerque ... Food is great !!!!

Amazing! We are visiting the springs and found this wonderful spot. The service and drinks were great. The food was some of the best I have ever had!

The portions are HUGE! My boyfriend and I wish we would have spilt a burrito. We would have taken our leftovers but we had no where to store them.

Priced so reasonably especially for the area. Under $30 for 2 people drinks, app, and 2 burritos.

Wish we were here longer to try more of the menu!

Amazing.. My husband and I were initially thrown off when there were no other cars in the entire parking lot, and no other patrons dining, but by the end of the meal we decided it must just be slower near closing time on a week-night because the food is truly amazing. It's clearly family run and they took great care of us. The salsa and chips are to die for--incredibly and unique salsa, with hearty, crispy, lime-juice drizzled tortilla chips. I've never been asked if I wanted my enchiladas spicy, and they WERE spicy!! I was on fire in a good way--a unique experience, Rice and beans were also delicious. My husband got the steak burrito and raved about that. We really enjoyed ourselves (and hated to see it so under-patronized, but hope more people are there on weekends or at other times). Great find!!

Service was good considering it was the lunch crowd. The food was great and they have good selection of nonalcoholic drinks.

Give these people your money! The food is so damn good, the staff are friendly, and the cups are made from plants. What more do you need?

TERRIBLE SERVICE Good Food. I have not experienced such terrible service in a long time. We had to get their attention for everything. We would ask the service for something and they would leave without responding and never come back with what we asked. The food is delicious, but if you actual want to enjoy it, get it to go.

Yum!. First time at Quijotes and the breakfast burritos are not only a steal for the $ but they are really, really good! I had the 3-meat burrito-$2.75 and I would highly recommend the $1.50 to smother it with their green chile (delicious!) It also came with sour cream, guac, and tomatoes. Can't wait to try their lunch/dinner items!

Extremely Fresh, Multiple visits, Excellent!. Freshest Rellenos I've ever had. Repeatedly.
No item on the menu has disappointed. Those that truly love Mexican food really owe it to themselves to go and try it.
This little section of a strip mall by the Union/Platte Burger King has had a host of sketchy places. Quijotes truly is the real deal, and has turned it around.
Fresh juices and smoothies available. Juicer type juices. Economical too. I think it was $3.50 for a great smoothie that would have been at least a couple more dollars for less quality at a majority of other places you try to get a smoothie from.
Honestly, I'd love if there was a vegetarian version of the red sauce for the cheese enchiladas. But it is so flavorful that my veggie girlfriend just dips her bites.
Opinions on Mexican food (generic term, I know) are a dime a dozen, and all over the place. And some will praise a place while others tear it apart. That said, I challenge anyone to find a better value for taste and freshness in the Springs.
All places are subject to off days, shifts, etc. But I've been very happy with them over ten to fifteen visits in a 8 month period.

My New Favorite Place!. I went to this place looking for a cheap breakfast burrito to start my day, and what I found is my new FAVORITE place to eat! Their green chili is the absolute BEST and I have fallen in love with their 3 meat burrito for $2.69 (With tax!). I SWEAR they must make it with CRACK in the sauce (Mild or spicy), because I have been eating them for breakfast for over 3 months now and STILL love them! You can get them smothered for lunch also for less than 5 bucks! Their green chili is the best I have ever had! I have since moved on to try many of their great food choices and I have never been disappointed! They even have some of the best ribs I have ever had! Their churros come out hot and amazing! The people who run the place are the nicest and most accommodating people I have met in a long time too! This place has become a MUST stop every morning for me, and even most afternoons. I promise you will NOT be disappointed!

Have you tried Quijote's yet? OMG! I just had my second very good lunch there. If you like Carnitas, which they have, you should really try the Cochinita Pibil! It's like Carnitas but way better. They marinate the pork in Achiote. The refried beans are good but the prices are even better.

Meat Omelet. Wow, like a breath of fresh air--this place has real Mexican food which has taste to match the wonderful presentation, and cheap price to boot. There is a team effort here that is amazing. They all pull together to please the customer--even the little guy (really little!!!) who comes around near the end of your eating experience and asks you "do you need something else,SIR ?" Yes, a definite thumbs up for this authentic Mexican food. No TEXMEX here--just the real deal!!! No senior discount, and no military discount, but this isn't necessary since the prices are low to begin with. There is a tip jar on the counter where you place your order, but this is optional--must likely on your way out you will want to make a deposit into their jar--it is that good.

Cochanita Pihil burrito that's toasted (gotta ask for it to be)...AMAZING! So good I had two! Best homemade churros!

Great inexpensive food!!

This has been by far the best Mexican food I have had in Colorado, as a resident Hispanic I am constantly chasing the taste I had growing up, I believe I have found it. Prices are great and food is even better, Eat Here

Addicting. I've eaten at Quijote's many times since we discovered it in May. I've tried the chile rellenos, steak tacos, tortas, breakfast burritos, enchiladas, taquitos, churros, and nachos. YUM describes everything on the menu so far. Their prices are unbeatable, the ambiance is very nice, and the service is fast and friendly. I am just afraid they aren't charging enough to stay in business. This is my favorite Mexican food in town. You can eat there with the whole family for a fraction of what it would cost elsewhere, and even if they start upping the prices I will keep coming. "A jewel in the rough" describes this excellent eatery. Don't let the location scare you away.

Best food and price I've had since the 90's

This is the most affordable & delicious combination in Colorado Springs. Great food at a great price!

Quijote's at 208 North Union. Quijote's is a wonderful small, new, unpretentious Mexican Restaurant on Union just south of Platte in Colorado Springs. All of the food we ordered(without exception) was freshly made, excellent, and served in generous portions. The Waitress was enthusiastic and gracious. We went after seeing the reviews in Urbanspoon and would concur that this is a unique place for Mexican Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner. My daughter's favorite was, of course, the homemade Flan served for dessert. We'll be back!

Terrific Prices, family is pouring their heart and soul into it.. My wife and I stopped in to this quaint little Mexican place for a light bite to eat. I noticed it had opened a couple weeks ago (and even opened it on Urbanspoon) and had to give it a shot.

The inside looks brand-spankin' new. From new tile to new tables to new decorations, the owners did a nice job on it. The menu's have a classy look to them which was pleasant to find. I could tell that it was ran almost entirely by the family that owned it with the father in the kitchen, the mom running the cash register and front dining room and even the little boy (wife and I thought he was adorable) who took our drink order, cleared our table and even occasionally went out front with a sign he was trying to wave towards traffic.

The food was ridiculously underpriced, $3.99, $4.99 and $5.99 for the entrees? Getouttatown. My wife got the Cheese Enchiladas and I got the Tamales. The Tamales didn't indicate they had chicken in them, but that's what they came with. The sauce on it was seasoned just fine, not spicy, but pleasant. My wife's enchilada also had it on it. She commented that she didn't think the rice had much flavor to it, but when she mixed it into the food, it seemed just fine.

As for dessert, we ordered some Flan which we probably believed was how they recoup some costs of their ridiculously cheap food. The flan was good, no doubt, but it was a little ordinary tasting and a little small for $3.99.

In the end though, we got a nice lunch with two drinks for around $18. I thought the value was excellent and that's why I wish this place all the best in its new beginning.
