The food was delicious, for the most part. I love that they offered us samples of the meats before we ordered. The sides are numerous and taste of down home goodness. The one dark spot on the meal was the "Smoked Baked Potato". It would have been great except for the fact that it was cold and didn't taste at all smoked. Hands down, the most disappointing part of the meal.

I’m beginning to wonder if my approach to evaluating BBQ joints is all backwards. I’m starting to question if you can actually begin the evaluation process from the parking lot. How you ask? Check the license plates. Even though Rudy’s is located a few miles off the nearest major highway, during every single visit I have invariably noticed various out-of-state license plates in the parking lot. Sure, the majority of plates are registered in Colorado, but how else do you explain the numerous representatives from multiple other parts of the country? It’s gotta be the chow, don’t you think? If you check our pic of the menu you’ll see that all the major (BBQ) food groups are included, without the number of choices becoming overwhelming. That’s key because their simple menu enables them to receive your order, quickly fill it while you’re still standing at the counter, and launch your involuntary salivation response while you scurry to the nearest table. (The brisket literally melts in your mouth, so either avoid dilly dallying or stuff a few paper towels in the corners of your mouth before you leave the counter. 🤤) Although both sauces were terrific, I preferred the “Sissy Sauce” (hey, no rude comments from the back of the room! 😡) and the Country music in the background was the perfect compliment (sounded like 90’s to me). And that’s…Henry’s Take. #bbqmadness #bbqsecrets

The food was very good. The restaurant has a nice environment and open seating, a relaxing place to get some BBQ and a group meal or a date night. The style in ordering then being served at the counter before seating yourself is different, and you should be prepared to stand in a line for nearly an hour before sitting down. Not being able to sit and relax and talk while waiting on food is not a great idea, and the food quality and menu do not offset the time spent standing.
