Small British restaurant (not really a pub) that really delivers. Came to try something new for Father's Day.the staff was friendly and nice. They had a couple UK beers on draft, and it was nice to enjoy that to stay on theme. The menu isn't very large, which is nice since they seem to be able to focus on what they do offer and execute on it well. The beer batter fish & chips is tasty. The batter isn't greasy and the fish is nice and flaky. Not mushy or tough. We had the Sheppard's pie chips which is a funny twist on the classic. It's the normal filling scooped on a basket of fries (chips). The Meat and Ale pie was great. Savory and stewed to perfection. The beef chunks were tender and the gravy was a good consistency to blend with the mashed potatoes. Both young kids tried it and loved it. One kid got the little Ben hamburger and it didn't last. I'm sad this place isn't closer to me as it looks set up to show football (soccer) games regularly with 2 projectors/screens. Seem like a good place to watch a match.
Came here for the Bangers and Mash!! Mashed potatoes were creamy. My Bangers were smothered in creamy onion sauce topped with green peas. The bangers were juicy and succulent. Everything tasted fresh. Now the one thing about this dish is that I can still savour the taste 2 days later. Place is small but accomodating. Staff are very friendly. So for now, these are the best bangers and mash hands down!!!
Small restaurant and bar with additional outdoor seating. Majority of the menu is gluten free or GF possible. We ordered Fish & Chips (yum!), Shepherds Pie (bland), Reese’s Peanut Butter Pie (super rich), & Rhubarb Crumble Cheesecake (glad we got this to-go so I could dip my fork in the rhubarb and avoid the crumble). It was so nice to finally have fried fish and cheesecake that reminds me of my life before going GF. I also appreciated not having to try to figure out what I could possibly eat without getting sick. I will warn you that if you haven’t had much fried food (fish) or desserts (cheesecake) you might feel off afterwards. I wish this was closer but plan to visit again.
