Shawnee Mound Bbq

Me and a friend are driving to the CWS in Omaha and came upon this gem of a BBQ on our way. Was thinking about waiting till we got to KC to eat but so glad we stopped at Shawnee’s BBQ! Don’t let the exterior slow you down because their food was outstanding. Must admit I was a little disappointed when they just sold out of the last order of burnt ends. Oh well, guess I’ll just try their meat sampler platter. Ribs, brisket, ham and a phenomenal hot sausage link. Yes please! Couple those with crispy tots, solid coleslaw and very thick and flavorful baked beans. Highly recommend this gem. Bonus points for making everything from scratch with a special shout out to the hot links! I’m full and happy.

I ate at Shawnee Mound BBQ on July 26th, 2017 with a couple of friends, this was a new place, within the last 12 mos. We showed up late and missed the lunch crowd, but we couldn't get everything we wanted, because they were out. I enjoyed their Kitchen Sink, (sloppy joe) type BBQ sandwich and my friends had ham and sausage. Everything was good, I really liked their horseradish coleslaw. The fries and beans were OK. I'd like to see them expand their menu, burnt ends were only available Fri - Sun. They sold individual drinks. BBQ should have a soda fountain. I didn't see cheesey corn, nor corn nuggets, nor fried pickles no mushrooms, but they're new and I expect they'll offer more as time goes on.
