The Fish Market

Real rating: 4.5 stars... There is lots to love about this place. This was my first visit. The atmosphere was great. The band (Thursday-Saturday) was entertaining. Hostess & wait staff were friendly. Drinks were well made. Bartenders were a little slow at the bar (20 minutes to get a drink), but the place was packed. The food came out relatively fast and was good quality (3.5 out of 5) with the best part being the roasted red potatoes and spinach medley. The women's restroom was clean. The huge parking lot was filled. Overall: I know I'm going to enjoy this place a lot in the future.

The “shrimps” on the front of the menu should’ve been my first clue but I tried anyway. I was VERY disappointed with the food here. No drink menu, food was BLAND and tasted like reheated frozen seafood, not fresh. The only good thing was the fresh oysters. The captain’s platter consisted of one piece of over fried fish, one dried crab cake, some “shrimps”, scallops and hush puppies. I could’ve save the time, money and stomach space. Clearly I missed the hype but the service was great and there seemed to be a nice ambiance for people who enjoy this type of place. Aaannnnddd, my WINE can in a PLASTIC WINE CUP with two STRAWS...who does that? Ps- SHRIMP is both singular and plural, no s required.

I went to the fish market this evening for an early dinner. The restaurant had a very warm and comfortable ambiance. It was very neat and tidy. Very much like a local establishment should be. My server, Shack, was absolutely fantastic. He’s very anticipatory and on point. Shack was very pleasant and polite and frequently checked back with me to make sure that all was well. I had a fried oyster platter which was very good and flavorful. It was a wonderful experience for me as I had not been there in a year or so. I will definitely go back. And I would encourage anyone else who likes seafood to do the same. The Fish Market is a very nice local establishment!
