Batesville General

I went here for lunch on a Saturday with a large group; we had prearranged for our visit so they'd be prepared. My bacon cheeseburger was very good. I ordered chips and ranch dressing as the side but they never brought the ranch. A table mate had the special, beef stew, and said it was delicious. Their coleslaw is sweet and very good. We tried their cinnamon rolls and they too were good; wish they'd warmed them before serving. Fresh, homemade with lots of cinnamon. The wait staff were excellent. They were patient and pleasant despite having a large group to manage. However, they "have a small grill" and really aren't ideally suited for serving a large group of 15. Our food trickled out with some waiting almost 2 hours. We still enjoyed our time there because we weren't in a hurry, but if you're looking for a place that can get a large group in and out promptly, this isn't it. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and the patio seating is pet friendly. The women's restroom was out of order so all had to use the men's room.

I feel bad giving this review, but honestly, our experience was terrible. The lady who was working was so sweet but she was the only one working the restaurant. Because of this, it took way too long to get our orders taken, receive our drinks, and receive our food. My parents and I plus one other patron were the only ones in the restaurant so it wasn't busy. A few customers walked in after us and even had to pour their own drinks, wipe down their own table, etc. Our food wasn't good and definitely overpriced for the quality. This place has potential but whoever is managing it really needs to hire on some extra people or it's going to get run into the ground.

This review is for the Old Batesville Country Store "best biscuits in Batesville" restaurant. The whole milk was sour and curdled in the coffee. They didn't have a fresh container. The coffee was cheap. The biscuits and grits were good, but they were served without butter and none was available. They were out of country ham, and the ham that was served both tasted and smelled spoiled. And the ham, 2 eggs, grits, biscuit and coffee was $14.98.

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch today. My husband, who rarely compliments restaurant food, stated this is one of the more delicious burgers he has had in a long time. My sister-in-law and I ordered the milkshakes. We were thrilled to have old-fashioned, delicious shakes served in "real" glasses. We highly recommend this off-the-beaten-path jewel in the Ga mountains! Spencer was our very personable and engaging server!! 🤗🤤😊
