Great looking place. Clean. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. I had the tavern burger and it was cooked just right. The pretzel bun was awesome. The coleslaw was really good too. Great place. I'll be back for sure to try their fish or shrimp tacos. Edit ..I went back for the fish tacos. They were pretty good just wish there was more fish in them, otherwise another pleasant visit.

This place was great! We stopped in for lunch a dessert and we loved it! The servers were very prompt and professional and the food was great! Definitely try dessert too! The braided pretzel was a great addition to the meal as well! The cheese had good spice but not overpowering. If you’re downtown stop in. You won’t be disappointed.

We stopped here on Labor Day originally just to have a cold craft beer and cool down in the A/C on a wicked hot day. While enjoying our beverages we saw several plates of food go to other tables that looked appetizing so we decided to have our lunch here also. Our entrees were chicken and waffles, the tavern burger, the jalapeño chicken wrap and the club. My son said the tavern burger was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed their main dishes but agreed the fries were not super hot and sort of average. High/low top, booth, patio and bar seating. Competitive pricing. Excellent, friendly service. Clean single unisex bathroom. Self proclaimed “Craft beer headquarters of Clare.” I would definitely return for craft beers and lunch when I’m back in the area.

My wife and I stopped for lunch on our way from Ann Arbor to Grayling. We had the absolute best service from a mother and daughter team. The menu is terrific with lots of choices. For lunch we settled on fish tacos (with grouper) and a fresh corn beef sandwich. Take the time to stop by and enjoy great hospitality and good food.

Tavern burger - AWESOME!!! Need I say more!? Probably the best burger I have ever had!! But what really put it over the edge was the server, she brought my hubby's third beer (don't judge!) and didn't bring the frosted glass but remembered before he took his first sip 😊 Ok, so back to the burger-AWESOME!!! I had the bruschetta plate which was good but that burger-AWESOME!! I also had a Blueberry Crush beer which was very tasty Come to Clare and get this burger... I'm not kidding, do it!!

Oh my Lord people, best food ever. Everything is homemade from the pita bread to the tortilla chips and bread. The shrimp tacos were fabulous and boyfriend said the cod was fresh and hot awesome, homemade batter. The service was phenomenal, MacKenzie was terrific. Just a really beautiful place. And not pricey at all. Had Feta dip with pita chips for appetizer — holy yum.

First a word about Clare,MI: What a lovely town! About halfway between any decent drive "up north". Shops bars restaurants and a famous Cops n Donuts shop for excellent pastries. I happen to know the summertime night life in this town pops! Regarding Timeout Tavern. I was there for lunch. Menu has basic American choices with some interesting Mexican and vegetarian choices. I went for the spicy black bean burger substituting side salad for fries. The salad was fresh and just the right size. The BBQ burger was in a ridiculously huge pretzel bun which means more bread than patty. All said it was tasty though I left most the bun on the plate (hint hint kitchen!). Staff were friendly. Our waitress wasn't particularly skilled (sandwich first, salad after we had to flag her down apparently she forgot) and she didn't pay attention to the drink refills. (Yes I left a tip! Not her fault she's new or not managed well). The interior is cool restored pressed ceiling tiles, refinished hardwood floors. Exposed brick walls. Taxidermy on the walls. Clean bathroom. They serve beer and I'll bet its s fun night spot.
