Best Hot & Sour Soup in the City!. I used to go to the First Wok on Springfield Pike, but it was closed one Sunday and I tried this one instead. I'm so glad I did! The hot and sour soup is out of this world! It's fresh and flavorful and you can actually tell what's in it. The first time I got it, the tofu was melt-in-your-mouth fresh. Today, I got it again, and the tofu wasn't quite so tender, but I think the chef knew, because there were substantial chewy strips of chicken to make up for it. Wow! I thought all those little strip-mall Chinese places were the same, but I've had my eyes opened. Try the soup!
Love the Ma Po Tofu!. This 1st Wok location makes my favorite variation of Ma Po Tofu. While I no longer live near Forest Park, every now and then I'll make the trip just to enjoy that nicely-spiced tofu and sauce.
We live right across the street and have ordered take out well over ten times, I’m shocked by all the bad reviews. Our food always seems to be hot, fresh and smells fantastic. The pork dumplings and egg rolls are fantastic! Especially the dumplings. I myself love the chicken teriyaki with white rice, and my husband always goes for the steak with peppers and onions! My son recently got chicken nuggets and French fries, which I advised against but he ate them all which is saying something for our picky eater. We’re never disappointed, it’s always a hit.
Our local Chinese take-out, with food about the same as any usual takeout place. One of our fav things is to pop in to grab a huge bag of krinkle cut fries to go with Kroger fried chicken. Some standouts include the Tso’s, Orange chicken, Lo Mein, and Egg foo yung.
Just tried it for the first time. the egg rolls were outstanding. The dumplings were delicious. General Tso's chicken was well fried and the sauce was great. Kung Po was sublime. We'll be ordering here again... soon
I ordered from Door Dash this evening. Was in the mood for Chinese, but my regular place was already closed. Door Dash also showed First Wok. I went ahead and ordered. Then while waiting for my food, I looked up the reviews. After reading thru them, I thought, OMG what am I getting myself into! Food was delivered within 19 minutes... hot fresh... chicken chow mein, fried won-ton and won-ton soup. By this time I am nervous. I opened the bag, the soup was delicious, the fried won-ton was crisp and hot. Good so far... let's get down to the nitty gritty... it was wonderful! Tons of meat! Nice balance of meat and rice. Plenty of extra sauces for anything I needed. Forks, spoons, knives... will definitely order from here again. I am sorry so many if you had a bad experience.
Stopped by this place to order crab ragoons. While waiting, a few regulars came in and spoke highly of the menu. So after my crab rangoon order, I placed an order for fried rice and bourbon chicken. The crab ragoons were full with the crab and cream cheese mixture along with the fried rice and bourbon. The food was very tasty.
Fresh hot food , dine area but staff isnt used to diners only carryout orders so they were annoyed by my family. Had no booster seats or high chairs
We eat First Wok takeout about 3 or 4 times a month and love it! Not much of a restaurant to look at, but they consistently make good food and have large portions.
