Review Bonnie Lynn Bakery - Cincinnati

Sally G
Just happened upon this place on the day before they're shutting the doors after 59+ years. Old school restaurant and bakery. Got the quiche daily special and it came with pasta salad and cranberry bread (cake). Very delicious and a steal at $7.25. Bought a cream puff on the way out and it was excellent. The young lady behind the bakery counter was slow as molasses and gave the impression that she wanted to be anywhere but there. Heard a lot of people reminiscing about their memories of visiting this place throughout the years. Kinda cool.

Been working near here for 12 years. Been in for the Danish and donuts a bunch, but just recently came in for lunch. Man I have been missing out. The open face turkey is awesome. And they had lasagna as a special one day and it was killer. Sooooooo good.

Great old-style sit-down breakfast and lunch place and full bakery. Prices are still very good. Great service. Hours are slightly different for the restaurant and bakery, see photo from 9/20/2021. If your getting eggs get the rye toast, marble rye baked right there.

Great little bakery. Doughnuts were really good. Most impressed with the young lady behind the counter. Super friendly and upbeat. Hard to find good people anymore, almost impossible to find a young person with her customer service skills that takes that much pride in what they are doing! Great job to her mom and dad and keep it up young lady. You are awesome!

I ordered my cake yesterday morning and was able to pick it up by 2. Not only was my cake identical to the picture I emailed them but it was also so delicious. Everyone was wanting more of it including me. I have and will forever recommend this bakery to everyone I know. I am forever grateful to them for making my baby girl’s 21st birthday cake the best she has ever had. She was so happy considering she is the one who showed me the pic of the cake she wanted and couldn’t believe how it looked just like the pic. Love this place I will be back❤️

No frills bakery and diner with good eats. This place is close to our new office so I have been eating breakfast and lunch here pretty regular. Today I had the rueben for the 1st time and it was quite tasty served on their toasted in house marble rye. Breakfast have also been good. Basic fresh food at a price that is easy on the wallet! I haven't tried all of the donuts yet, but they look great.

This is my absolute favorite place to get donuts and other desserts! They are always delicious, fresh, and there is always something new to try. The prices are very reasonable as well. They frequently have seasonal or other memorable designs for important events, even cookies for the Kentucky Derby featuring the contenders! The icing on the cake is definitely the owner. She remembers her regulars and will make an effort to converse with you during your visit.

I love this place I really do! They have the best baked goods. I love the Cream Horns the best! The place is always clean and they seem fast friendly and efficient. You have to try this place and once you do you will be back. When you walk in the smell is amazing and you can place orders as well.

This is one of my favorite, local places to go for lunch. Nothing fancy, but nice, simple food and service with a smile. The bakery is amazing! Love their pastries, and their cakes are simply the best. Oh... be sure to try a yumyum... if you like yeast pastries, you'll love it!

The breakfast was simple but pretty darn tasteful and filling. They have I believe 3 locations but the others have only a bakery while this one does both. Loved the server, such a wonderful woman and the other associates were just as wonderful. Want to make it back, wish it was a little closer to my house.

A nice old fashioned American style bakery, complete with 'regulars' and a menu reminscent of Denny's. The doughnuts were pretty good as well, the old fashioned cake were classic

Have been going there for years. Fantastic bakery, cookies, cakes and donuts. Always a good breakfast or lunch in the dining area. This is my daily lunch stop. I don't know why people line up for McD's when Bonnie Lynn is just across the street.

Quaint little bakery/diner. Service people were courteous, attentive, oh, and the food was lovely!!! That Bakery though!!!!!! #Fire! Get the original glazed donuts, or the bear claw..... you won't be disappointed!!

Everything was great. We've been in blue ash for a while now but, honestly, didn't know there was a restaurant in this bakery! Great food, excellent service, we're excited to have a go to spot with a nice home town feel!

I live right by here and can always smell them baking which is amazing. I went once for breakfast and wasn't impressed. It's normal food that you can make at your house. The donuts, however, are amazing!!! The best donuts in Blue Ash!!

Morning drama club. Old timer regulars get a little loud whooping it up with the waitress working the breakfast shift. The alpha male complains vociferously and the waitress snaps back, but it's all in fun and keeps them coming back. Everyone else seems to enjoy the entertainment or at least tolerates it. After all, the prices are way low and the food's fair to middling.

When checking out, don't forget to get something for that sweet tooth later on. The bakery's above average as bakeries go, and there's no drama in the north wing. Just service with a smile.

Oh yeah, watch out for those potholes in the parking lot.

Wasted my lunch break.. Working in a Blueash office I typically eat lunch out 3 times a week.

I'm always looking to support locally owned places so when I found out Bonnie Lynn Bakery had a kitchen and sold lunch I planned a visit.

I arrived at 11:30 to a 1/4 full dining room full of what looked like mostly to be retirees and locals who we're not pressed for time. Most of the dining room had their food already and it looked edible enough so I sat down at the bar and looked over the menu. The whole place smelled like a bakery, but not in a good way. I knew that the sweet pastry, old icing donut frying oil smell was going to be sticking to me the rest of the day. The decor of the whole place is outdated, dark and dingy. Something about the low celling and dim tube lights was unappealing.

I ordered two side dishes, a cold deli sandwich and a burger to go and placed the order at 11:40am. After 10 minutes the waitress said that I could pay up front instead of waiting at the bar. I looked over the bakery items and decided to try a treat or two which brought my total up to about 20 bucks. After paying I sat back down and the bar.

After 25minutes my togo order was ready. Frustrated I drove back to the office to deliver the food to a coworker only to find one of my side dishes completely missing. The pasta salad I did receive was watery and tasted like spoiled dairy and celery. The burger was a preformed puck that must have been on the grill for the entire 25minutes. It was unseasoned, dry and burned. My coworkers deli sandwich was flat and bland. As for the treats purchased at the bakery... vending machine snacks are a better value for the taste.

TL;DR - Food takes forever to cook, is overpriced, under-seasoned and likely heated up from can or freezer bag. Don't waste your time or money.

I'm really sad that this place is such a let down. I was hoping for more.

Awesome cakes!. I order a lot of birthday cakes from Bonnie Lynn bakery, and they never seem to disappoint. You literally can order whatever you want! I even printed a picture online and they were able to re-print it on the cake! Although I have never eaten there for lunch, this place always pleases me.

One of the worst breakfast places I've ever visited. Should have known from the terrible decor and lack of patrons at 11:00 am on a Saturday that I should have left. Grits were instant- I watched the waitress make them. Orange from concentrate in a bottle. Bacon was way to fatty and Waffles were more like awfuls. Finally, food was way over priced. Steer clear if this place and anyone reviewer that liked it must have never had a good breakfast.

I love the comments about service. I get the impression they could care less about anything but cakes or doughnuts. But the cook is amazing and I love the breakfast. Very inexpensive. Nothing amazing but everything is cooked well. We love coming here. It is consistent and great food. Just don't expect amazing service. A 5 dollar meal does not tip as well as the same food that costs 10 bucks so you get what you get.

Love this place. We ordered a wedding cake at Bonnie Lynn Bakery for my parents 50th wedding annversary, and it was MAGNIFICENT! Everyone commented on how beautiful it was and how good it tasted.
Everything we get there is great- from the devil dogs, to the coconut bread to the donuts are very good quality.
It keeps us coming back for more.

Breakfast from hell. Soggy French toast. Unscrambled eggs. Semi-raw bacon. Burnt coffee. The Short-order cook could be seen in the kitchen wearing a Norwegian woolly hat with pine trees on it. The waitress got the order wrong. The bran muffin tasted of sawdust. $19.00. Need I say more?

Worst Service and people EVER!. The female cook today was the rudest woman I have ever met in a restaurant. THe food was oversooked and tasteless and I won't be going back anytime soon..... Zack the server was great - but that woman.....what a nightmare!

Service?. I was in the bakery this afternoon and no one was there. I called "hello" a number of times. Someone in back started to come to the counter, but was called away. I waited 5 minutes, called "goodbye" and left.

Dunkin Donuts served me right away.

Not just doughnuts. I grew up right down the street from Bonnie Lynn on Cornell and I remember driving by in the evening and getting a whiff of the wonderfull smells. Their doughnuts are top rate but don't forget their sit down food. While I have never eaten lunch here their breakfast is great. Nice servings, service and price.

I love Bonnie Lynn Bakery!. They custon made my wedding cake that was truly magnificent. It was the crowning glory of my whole day. My guests still rave about it years later. It was beautiful and the flavor was unique. The bakery had a Bavarian filling usually used in doughnuts, that they used in between layers of the cake that made it just wonderful. The cake was white with small edible pear trim and a castle on top. They made two extra sheet cakes at the last minute, when we realized that we would need more cake, then they even decorated those to match the original cake. I have never been so greatful for such wonderful and accomodating serice. I have returned there many times since then and now my family goes out of their way to order their cakes and cookies from Bonnie Lynn's as well. I cannot speak highly enough of them. Anytime I have to order cakes and cookies for special events, I order from them.

It doesn't look like much from the outside (or the inside, for that matter), but Bonnie Lynn Bakery and Restaurant has got some staying power. There are three locations, but the one we're most familiar with is in Blue Ash,
