Review Grand Oriental Restaurant - Cincinnati

Delicious dim sum (specifically the Shumai, Bean Curd Roll, and Chicken Feet). Excellent customer service: friendly, professional, efficient, and fast. Big space with nice decorations and lots of seating. Fair prices. Easy parking. Our family ate on a Saturday at 10:30am. Great time if you have kids. It was also very nice talking with Henry (owner) and Kenny (manager). Will definitely come back.

The food is excellent! Probably the best crab Rangoons I ever have. The service was ok, I had the feeling everything was a little bit rush. The atmosphere it was ok. We have been seated to a table close to the kitchen, it was a little bit dirty around. If you look up on the walls and ceiling all looks amazing but if you look down, is kinda dirty. With all this, we would be back. Hopefully we would get a better table. I do recommend the place.

What an amazing restaurant! You have to try the dim sum. We didn't know what it was or what to do, but the owner took care of everything, and ordered all his favorites!! Can't wait to go back!

I grade hard. So I am grading this against all Asian food. First anyone who reads service is bad is reading a response from a KAREN. One of the owners was our server. He was great. Attentive as could be. Answered every question. Second. The place is so charming and inviting. It says China and high end China. Then we come to the food. It was the most perfect bowl of hot and sour soup. Not overly acid forward and just enough heat. The egg drop soup had a velvety texture. So nice. This was a great version of egg Foo young. So why a 4. You can only be as good as your worst score. The shimp egg Foo young could have used the shrimp cut up so you got some in every bite. It was left whole.

The food was very good! Initially they presented us with a regular menu but then the waiter realized I wanted dim sum. I didn't know they had a separate menu for dim sum. Everything was delicious and the waiter (one of the owners, I presume) was very personable. The other owner even came to check on us and make sure everything was alright. Very nice folks. The building is beautiful and makes you feel like you're in China (see pictures.) My only complaint is the building looks like it needs some upkeep done in certain areas. I can look past all that though as the food was so wonderful! We did show up on a Monday around 3pm and the place was pretty slow, in case you're wondering why no one is in the pictures!

Simply some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. Friendly attentive staff, very traditional Chinese decor. The crab rangoons are to die for. Everything is homemade and fresh. The table mustard is amazing. Unfortunately I am just traveling from out of town or I would be a regular here. You cannot go wrong eating there.

My first time to Cincinnati and I found this delicious food. Dim Sum has always been my favorite and this place did not disappoint. The food is fresh, hot and delicious. Tastes authentic like I had in Hong Kong. The atmosphere is nice and clean, open and airy. The staff I encountered were all very warm and welcoming. It is nice when the staff takes time to interact. I will definitely visit Grand Oriental again. A+ for food and staff.

The restaurant is nicely decorated and well maintained. Service was also fine. We had a wonton soup, a vegetable soup, shrimps with vegetables, and a Mongolian beef. Food was tasteful, however the amount dose not seem to correspond my expectations. Especially there were too little beef in the Mongolian beef. Other than quantity, everything else was very good.

This was our first visit here. It doesn't look like too much on the outside but inside is beautiful and has plenty of seating. The service was impeccable; all employees were sweet and remembered everything we needed. The guy who seated us and brought us our tea and food was so friendly and had a sense of humor. The food was delicious. I tried both the miso tofu soup and the szechuan eggplant while my husband had the hong sue tofu. We tried each other's dishes as well. Portions were generous but not overbearing. Presentation was nice. Quite a few vegan options available for the health-conscious. The sauces were rich. It was definitely the best tasting szechuan I've ever had. The oolong tea was served in a teapot for refills and was loose leaf; it was delicious as well. The only negative I have to mention is the cost. Each menu mentions there is a 10% increase on the bill to combat rising food costs. I get it, but at the same time, this was the most I've ever spent on eating out (about $40 before tip for two). Be aware of this before you stop by! All in all, Grand Oriental Chinese gave us an excellent experience but at a premium price. If it weren't for the high cost I think we'd make the trip all the way out to Loveland just to go here.

(10/6/22) This is a hidden gem. It is difficult to describe how beautiful it is in here. There is soft piano music playing in the back which beautifully compliments the ornate design. My server took time to describe the dim sum menu to me with remarkable patience, and everything I had was fresh and excellent. The pork bao is the best I have ever had. I was in town for a work conference and the combination of the atmosphere and the service I received made it my favorite new restaurant. I would happily make the hour drive to experience this level of quality again. This is a family business that has obviously been curated over multiple generations, so don’t waste your money on Applebee’s.

This is my first time having dim sum, and it was so magical. They brought carts of food around and you could choose small tins of different kinds of food. All of them were delicious! I think my favorites were the soup dumplings and the fried sticky rice. The grandkids loved it, too! The owners were very attentive

Being an STL native I am blessed to have amazing dim sum at home. I was certainly not let down when dining at Grand Oriental. The atmosphere, service, Food, dim sum, menu, and tea was all perfect. We never had to wait for a cart despite being busy for dim sum. The servers were attentive and very kind. My daughter loves dim sum and we love authentic Chinese cuisine. Whenever we find a spot that caters to this taste, we show them love! We will be back when we come back to the area!

Our first time to this restaurant and the experience left us wanting more. It is a large restaurant with much seating. The staff is friendly, courteous and very fast. The menu is quite varied and the food was fantastic. I had an egg roll and the schezwan beef. The roll was very good and came with both a plum and mustard sauce. The schezwan plate had just the right amount of spice in it, not too mild but not so hot as to burn your taste buds. My wife had the chicken and vegetables, which she said was very good. We'll definitely be back the next time that we pass thru.

Delicious Chinese. Pot stickers were perfect. Moo Goo is my favorite, light delicious sauce with perfectly tender veggies. Don't skip the sesame balls!

We were so impressed with the atmosphere, friendliness, and amazing food! The orange chicken and pan fried noodles were recommended to us by who we assume is the owner, and we loved both! We forgot to take "before" pictures, but the empty plates imply good food 😉 Portions are definitely big enough to share so it was nice to be able to try both. We just moved to the area and will definitely become regulars here.

Love this place especially on Saturday and Sunday for DimSum. The owners are very nice and staff is friendly. Some of my favorite dishes are Beef chow fun, Young chow fried rice, Shiumai and the Chinese donuts. If you go for DimSum then I recommend going as early as possible or be ready to wait. You won’t be disappointed and there are always plenty of leftovers
