Ok...WOW! Let's start with the simple stuff. The beans and rice are AMAZING! Corn bread? To DIE FOR! The brisket and pork were some of the best ever! Everything meat is wood fired here. The place smells wonderful! WAY better than other places. I didn't even try the sauces on the table until I was done eating as I love the natural flavors of the smokiness of their meats. Then I "finger tested" the sauces. The mild was great, so was the hot, but the mild would certainly sell gallons if available! I wanted to smuggle a table bottle out, but they were watching me. If I lived here, I would be here 3 times per week at least!

Totally awesome! Passing through overnight and had to try it due to high rating. It was even better than imagined. Had pulled pork platter with beans and potato salad. Daughter had the same with mac'n cheese. All of it was unbelievably good.

Great and very welcoming staff! The employees are so friendly makes you feel like you are going to a family members house for dinner or lunch. The best bread putting you can get in Ohio. Get the pulled brisket sandwich! Real BBG

Just had a 80th Birthday party for the owner of JF Berns in Forest Park for 40 team members.
Ribs feel off the bones, sides and corn bread perfect. Owner and staff always friendly and price is definitely affordable! Recommend you make the trip ( just for smells, lol) .

Absolutely epicly amazing! Great good with exceptional service. The first question they ask before you order is "how are you doing?" A great place to come as a couple, small or large groups, and catering! The owner is a blessed godly man with fantastic food. I highly recommend the pulled pork to start, and the creamy bread pudding to finish.

I'm no barbecue expert, but use been to a few different restaurants around the country, and this was one of the best. I ordered a half rack of ribs, and they were fantastic. Great flavor, and the portion was large. The meat was lean, without too lunch fat or gristle like you sometimes get on ribs. The sauce was delicious as well. I mixed the mild and hot barbecue sauces. The sides were also pretty good. The price was a little higher than I've seen in other places for ribs, but I think it was worth the money. Highly recommended.

Jim Dandy's is fantastic barbecue. I get their brisket almost every time but their pulled pork is just as good. The choices of sides are great, potato salad being my personal favorite. The crew is very friendly and attentive. The only downside is the lack of sauce's, only a mild and hot on each table with around 4 additional. Love the hot sauce, but would love to see more varieties.

Jim Dandy's is a great place to go in and get some BBQ when you're on a time crunch. Walk in and place your order and they will plate your food and ring up your bill quickly. The BBQ was really good. I got their brisket sandwich and it did not disappoint. The bread pudding was super delicious as a side!! Some items will take a bit longer to get because they have to warm them up like the kielbasa. I recommend giving this place a try and enjoy their BBQ.

Baby backs were good. Meat fell off bone... cooked perfectly. Corn bread great if you like sweet. Luckily I like sweet and buttermilk. Brisket was great too. Staff was extremely courteous and professional... even young. My mother, my daughter and I would eat here again. Actually... when I pass back through in a couple days after dropping them off in Alabama, I will be stopping to take a slab and some bread pudding (which I didn't try today) home to Ohio.

Excellent BBQ. I ordered the pulled chicken and pulled pork. The pulled pork is smokey, with good flavor. The pulled chicken had a sweeter flavor and less smokey. Both were not dry at all, and were very tender, and the meats were high quality without much fat. The chicken with the mild sauce is moderate enough that kids should like it. The sides were excellent as well. The slaw had good creamy flavor and the saratoga chips had good seasoning. Pricing was reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

This really is a family restaurant. If you like smoked meats and barbecue then you must make a stop here! The whole rack of ribs will please anyone. I also had the green beans, Mac and cheese and cornbread. They were just perfect! There's just something about meat cooked over wood fires. They have pulled pork and whole smoked chicken if you prefer. The place is pretty cozy, made with a woodsy look. The service was on point and we were made quite welcome. I will be back. As Always, Enjoy!

Awesome BBQ and Pulled Pork. The smell of burnt wood and BBQ makes this place feel liek a cabin out in the woods somewhere and you are about to dive into a pound of pulled pork. Great atmosphere, great prices, awesome food. No complaints, Love it.

Insanely good! I can easily eat a full rack of ribs at most places. The ribs were so meaty that I could only eat half of them. I'm saving the rest for later tonight! The meat was falling off the bone. I was in town for business and wasn't disappointed.
To people who say that it is overpriced and should be cooked to order: good BBQ takes a LONG time to cook. If you use high quality meat and take a long time to cook it, it will cost more.
I didn't regret my choice. I will be back!

The red beans and rice was beans rice and some chili sauce not good the coleslaw was basically cabbage in Waterdown mayonnaise not good the brisket tasted like it was smoked with some kind of fuel accelerant the ribs was cooked perfect but not much flavor unless you drowned it and barbecue sauce the pulled pork and Cornbread was decent portions was small not a lot of bang for your buck

Was in town from North Carolina for business so was looking for a good place to eat. As I was riding by the restaurant, the smell from the smoke grill out front grabbed my attention and I turned around and went back. The best choice I made all day. Ordered a Rib Tips platter with Mac and Cheese and Red Beans and Rice. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!!!! Next time I am in the area I will definitely be back. �

I have had Jim Dandy's many, many times and the food has always been excellent. I have used them to cater parties for me as well, and if I use another caterer to mix it up, my friends always ask me if we are having " those ribs". So much so, that if I have another caterer do my party, I also get 5 to 10 slabs of ribs, from Jim also. The other caterer I use has excellent food too, and is very understanding about Jim's ribs! Love the sides, pulled pork and chicken, and the brisket too! You can't go wrong, and on the rare occasion where something isn't quite right, they are happy to make it right immediately.

Had a family dinner of 14 all meet up last night, was a little disappointed. We are ALL huge BBQ fans and I wanted this to be really good... but it wasn’t �. The pulled pork was water soaked and bland. The sauces were really vinegary or tasted like ketchup. The mac & cheese was good and the slaw was good... it took a while for the kids chicken nuggets and the fish sandwiches to come out. I’ll give it another chance I guess... just not the same as the southern BBQ we are used to...

Good BBQ shouldn't need sauce to mask the flavor. Jim Dandy has incredible smoke flavor from being smoked over real wood.
Loved the Mac and cheese and bread pudding with vanilla sauce for desert.
It just don't get any better than that.

We visited Jim Dandy's for the first time today and it will not be our last. We had the pleasure of meeting Jim and enjoying his wonderful food. Between the 4 of us we had the brisket, ribs, and chicken and it was all great. As for sides we tried the beans, mac and cheese, and applesauce, they were all good as well, but the stand out was the applesauce - homemade with large chunks of apples with just the right amount of sweetness. We bought a pink to take back to the hotel with us!

Food was good but not for the price we get way bigger portion at other places . They need to work on portion size for the money . If i leave still hungry you need bigger portions.truck driver i eat at a lot bbq all over the country and for 12 dollars for a 3 meat meal will fill you here that a sandwich. Like i said not bad but need to work on price.

I love Jim Dandy's BBQ! Ribs and sides are all excellent which I've treated my clients to on occasion. They always rave about it and helps me solidify relationships with my customers and let's them know how valuable they are. If you haven't tried a mett or Italian sausage yet.....grab one for lunch. VERY GOOD!!!! The gumbo and jambalaya are also good choices. As Newman would say on Seinfeld...."It's the wood that makes it good"!
