Review Indian Bistro - Cincinnati

Catherine Fowler
Best Indian food and service I've ever had. I've never tried goat before and our server convinced me to try some of theirs and it was absolutely incredible. Chicken tikki masala was amazing and so was the bread.

Food is great and the server I had was very good. Table placements and tea service was excellent. A little pricey for lunchtime more like a dinner service cost. Business notably is very busy with carryout service more than dining in.

I absolutely love this place. We drive an hour each way just to eat here 😅 it's freaking delicious. Hands down the best Indian food I've had imo. The portions are great also. The butter chicken, chicken korma and garlic Naan are our go tos currently but I will be working my way through their menu eventually lol. Their customer service is great and prices are more than fair. The dining area and rest rooms are always very clean also.

Well, this was the first time I've ever had Indian food. My wife found this place and we brought our son. The restaurant is in a strip mall and it is clean and inviting. The service was amazing and the food was outstanding!! Nice and spicy just how I like it. We had an appetizer which was delish and the chutneys were full of flavor. The server was super informative especially since this was my first time. We tried the butter chicken, the tikka masala (levels 2 and 3), and chili chicken and garlic, onion and cheese naan . This food is amazing we will definitely be going back again.

We had reservations for a party of 12 for my good friend’s birthday and we had a blast! It was some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had and the staff was really sweet! The naan was perfect and the balance of spices was so delicate and delicious! The service was quick also, considering the size of our party. 5 stars!

We are so thankful for this family and providing delicious Indian cuisine to our area. Everything is delicious, comes out quickly and everyone is always always so friendly. We love this restaurant!

We came here bc of the review. It's rare to see a 4.7 stars for a restaurant with more than 100ppl's review. When we got here around 6:30pm there was nobody and we were skeptical, if we should just go to the Hibachi Buffet next door. BUT we're glad we stayed bc the food was delicious. We ordered the sampler appetizer, samosa appetizer, nan, and ginger lamb, chai tea. Appetizers were ok. We were getting full by the time the lamb &nan came out. Spicy level 1-4. We got medium spicy(#2). Nan was a bit oily. Lamb was good. It got spicier as we ate, but it was good spicy. I hope it's as good the next time we come and try the buffet. I can't wait.\^^/👍 (chai was ok. Never had chai in a restaurant and my friend always give me chai with sugar and this chai didn't)(the servers were wonderful but the gentleman seemed like he was allergic to us. 😂 He kept a distance from us every time he came to our table except to give us food. Didn't see how he was with other ppl who were there so I'm assuming that's how he is)

If you like mild Indian food, this is the place for you. I've eaten at over 20 Indian restaurants and this one was the mildest. The buffet had a nice selection. There wasn't a lot of naan, but there was some. I didn't see any Biryani at all. There was plenty of excellent chicken and vegetarian dishes. The service was good enough. The restaurant looked nice and was exceptionally clean. Absolutely spotless. I got there five minutes after they opened for the lunch buffet and I was the only one there for a while. The buffet was a good value at $8.99.

I love this place so much. The food, the service, the owners, just amazing. I live out of state and everytime I’m back home visiting family I get the chicken tikka masala from here. It’s the best I’ve ever had with just wonderful people to match. Such sweet people they deserve your buisness. If you’re a fan of Indian food be sure to check them out I promise it’s always worth it! They never miss!

My wife and I and our 10 month old visited The Indian Bistro Restaurant and loved it! I had the Special Chicken Tikka Masala-spices were perfect and it was so creamy and delicious. My wife had the Chicken Makhani with coconut milk and loved it too. The staff was very friendly and easily accommodated my wife being dairy free. Great place to eat.

Good Indian food. Not very authentic. But great around there, buffet is highly recommended. Indian flavours and delight for all around Cincinnati.

I have been t this place my friends couple of times. I loved authentic north Indian food served at this restaurant. Food taste and quality were really nice in my all visits. I would recommend this place to everyone. Although I am not eating non-vegetarian food but my friends love chili chicken platter.

Best Indian on East Side, Hands Down. One of those places we can't stop talking about. We're pretty much always planning our next trip since discovering this place a couple of months ago. It's quickly become our favorite Indian on the East side, possibly city-wide. Everything is fresh, tender, flavorful and authentic. Even the standard Indian appetizers are something special here - delicate, even, not an attribute I'd normally apply to a curry puff! The staff is super friendly and helpful, to boot. <br/><br/>Highlights include the lamb saag, chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, chai tea, and every naan variety we've tried (chicken, hot and spicy, garlic, plain). I've never experienced naan this fresh or tender. <br/><br/>Well worth subjecting yourself to Beechmont Avenue traffic!

Good, but avoid the bathrooms. The food is amazing. I think I might actually like it better than another certain Indian restaurant a couple miles down the street from them. HOWEVER, my wife and daughter went to their bathroom the last time we were there and the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. There was some sort of hose coming out of the ceiling going into a bucket. The ceiling tiles were all water stained and nasty. It's just one of those things that make you think "if the bathroom is like that, what's the kitchen like?"<br/>Beyond that, the people are always nice, the food is good. The lunch buffet is a great time to go to get tons of food for cheap.

Don't Judge The Book. The restaurant may be located in a semi-dead piece of strip mall, but don't let that stop you from taking a chance. The food is very good and they have some of the best naan I've ever had. Get it hot and fresh and you'll see why others have also mentioned it. They also have plenty of great vegetarian dishes. The staff have always been very friendly and prompt with their service.

Surprisingly Good. I was expecting a pretty run of the mill restaurant with uninvolved staff and mediocre food. I was very pleasantly surprised on both counts. The owner spent a good deal of time ensuring that I was pleased with everything and I was. The food was very good and compared well with the best I've had in Cincinnati. I not only had no complaints, but would recommend this restaurant to anyone whose dining tastes ran to Indian food.

Food was good. Great garlic nan. Wait staff was very friendly.

Favorite Indian Restaurant. I've tried most of the Indian restaurants from Clifton to the East side. Given that Anderson is a chain restaurant ghetto with mediocre to poor quality food in abundance, I was eager to try out Indian Bistro when it first opened. It's actually quite good and I now go there often enough for take out that they know my voice on the phone. The decor isn't much but don't let that fool you. It's worth the visit.

First time her! My wife and I love Indian food and are good cooks ourselves. We both were very impressed with the food. Don't look much from the outside, but the food is great!

Awesome Indian food! Better than royal taj! They are so friendly too. I always get carry out and the food is always hot, delicious and correct.

Flavor Flavor and more flavor. The buffet at 10.99 per person was awesome value. There was a good range to chose and plenty of vegetarian choices.<br/>The service was warm and welcoming and the atmosphere friendly. Many of the diners were clearly repeat customers (always a good sign) and having eaten a variety of what was on offer we will also be adding our name to the "regulars".<br/>The wonderful buffet was fully supported by an extensive a la carte menu .<br/>The vegetable samosa and spinach pakora where so fresh and flavorful.<br/>We recommend it!

Best Food East of the City. Indian Bistro is literally the best. Best Service, Best Food, and thankfully they had the heart to grace the drivers of Ohio Pike with something not only good, but superb.<br/><br/><br/>Get yo self some Makhani or Tikka Saag

Pleasant place. Good food.. I liked this place. The restaurant and restroom were clean. The staff were helpful and smiling. The food was good to very good. The spicy green beans with fried potatoes was a nice surprise. If you like hot tea, be aware that theirs is strong with lots of tannins. Also, the salad has lots of cilantro. The price is very reasonable.

Indian Bistro on Beechmont.... I highly endorse this bustling family owned & operated small business. The service is always delightfully friendly without being intrusive. Their chicken pakora is a huge hit. The buffet offers much to choose from with just the perfect mix of spice. The value is extremely high for the quality of food & standard of service.<br/>I'm happy to travel to Beechmont Avenue to The Indian Bistro as it's an exceptional & consistant local choice in Indian cuisine. Well done!<br/><br/>*The Indian Bistro is a great spot for a small meeting. There is a back meeting room available for small groups. This is great for non-profit, ladies luncheons, church gatherings, & small professional Eastside business meetings.

Indian Bistro is exquisite!. For over a year now, I have been driving to Indian Bistro in Beechmont to partake of some of the most scrumptious Indian food I have ever had! The owners are wonderful, the options numerous and the food incredibly palatable! My only disappointment is that due to a move I have scheduled, I will no longer be able to dine at Indian Bistro. If you're interested in trying a new cuisine, particularly Near-Eastern in nature, I highly recommend that you give this place a shot! If you like experimenting with new foods and dishes, you're bound to like the Indian food served here!

A family favorite!. My husband and I are HUGE fans of Indian food, so we were excited when Indian Bistro came to the area to provide us with an alternative to Royal Taj. The more, the merrier! We tend to be buffet enthusiasts, but the carry out is never disappointing either (even their paneer pakora travels well). The buffet food is always at a suitable temperature (which is an issue in some Indian buffets) and they always get me excited when they have desserts out I've never tried before! The service is always delightfully friendly without being intrusive. Their chicken pakora is a huge hit with one of my kids, as well as their goat curry when it's not too spicy. My picky two year old is happy to eat her fill of rice and naan bread, but we all leave full and satisfied!

Delicious! Best curry I've had in ages and reasonably priced. Staff very friendly!

I know Indian food quite well and Indian Bistro Is among the best in the City. Their only competition is in Oakley at Baba or in Clifton at Ambar. The food is as good, if not better, and the menu is more diverse. They trump both in customer service and customer appreciation. So far, I recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, and Lamb Curry. Very nice and clean for dining in- the outside appearance does not reflect the ambiance or the excellent food and service. They have the best Indian cuisine in the area.

The times I gave eaten here have all been good experiences. The place wasn't very crowded every time I've been. The service was attentive and the food was priced well. I POW business is going well because I would hate for this place to close.

Indian Bistro . . . a must try. Our family has eaten at various Indian restaurants in the Cincinnati area (including others on Beechmont Avenue), and this is where we will go in the future.<br/><br/>The food is great, and the staff is as good as it gets. <br/><br/>We have done take out 3-4 times already, and are planning to eat in with friends who like it as well.<br/><br/>Great Job!!!

Excellent Indian Restaurant in our Neighborhood. I've been to the Indian Bistro several times after it opened and still can't keep away from going there. My friends and I crave for it so much. The food is Excellent and the Service is outstanding. The staff is the most courteous and polite folks that you can find and would want to meet .They go out of their way to make sure you have a fine dining experience, by their suggestions and recommendations if asked.Unlike other restaurants where they are unfriendly and the food is not up to par.<br/><br/>I've eaten Indian food in India, England and in Europe and must say the Indian Bistro is just a fantastic dining experience. They can cater the spice and hotness to your taste. I also have my dinners and lunches catered for my meetings .<br/><br/>I rate the Indian Bistro in the top 5 Best Indian Restaurants in the Greater Cincinnati area. We folks on the East side (Beechmont Ave) are so priviledged to have a good Indian Restaurant.. Folks, you have to try it to believe it. It's well worth a visit for the inexpensive Lunch Buffet or Dinner. I have my friends from the West Side and S.E. Indiana that come all this way for great Indian Food at the Indian Bistro.<br/><br/>I wish the Indian Bistro owners and staff continued success and growth. We folks on the East side should patronize the Indian Bistro so that it will be a permanent fixture, as we don't have to travel across town to savor good Indian Cusine. <br/><br/>I highly recommend one gives the Indian Bistro a try and you'll be hooked.<br/><br/>Cheers!

I so wanted to love this place, bc unlike other Indian restaurants nearby, the ppl are pretty nice here. Good naan, so-so sauces, poor vegetarian selection w very strange veg kofta + other veg dishes. Baba is the closest decent indian rest w a good veg selection but they're so unfriendly and unhappy to see you and at times flat out rude, so the search continues. And, no, Royal Taj doesn't cut it either.

Awesome Food Best Indian Food Ever. My wife and I had dinner at Indian Bistro. The service was outstanding and the food was amazing!<br/>We had no idea what to order, other than naan.<br/>Fortunately for us, our host, was gracious enough to spend a ridiculous amount of time with us explaining how almost ever item on the menu is prepared and what to expect from the flavors in the dish.<br/>We settled on Mixed Platter to start. It was appetizers including chicken pakora , mint, coriander and a sweet sauce that I still can't describe.<br/>My wife chose Dal Makhani. It is a mildly spicy blend of lentils. Hot, creamy and flavorful.<br/>I decided on Lamb Vindaloo. Make no mistake, it is good and it is hot! Super spicy, tender lamb and potato stewed in a fantastic sauce that is reminiscent of a mole. It is flavored by tamarind, cardamom pods, black pepper and coriander. Absolutely fantastic!<br/>We also ordered naan, terrific Chicken Biryani rice and raita to go with, and to cut the heat.<br/>The food was fantastic, and I think the chef deserves a thumbs up the service was fast and our host was gracious.<br/>I am from New England so If I come back to Cincinnati this is the place I will eat for sure!

Excellent full flavoed food with generous amounts of ingredients . They added a complimentary dessert to my take out order. bla exterior does not do justice to the nice place inside. Will be back- this is a keeper!

Highly recommended!. We appreciate good food and good service and are very pleased on both counts after several visits to Indian Bistro. We've had many of their dishes and they've all been delicious, and the service from each member of the staff has been outstanding. It's our new favorite place in Anderson; we wish them well and hope they stick around!

Strange buffet, childish owners. I went here for a lunch buffet and noticed some of the standards were absent - chicken curry being one. The place was 50/50 for me, sometimes in the same dish. The saag paneer at most places usually is too short on the paneer. Here there was actually too much, partially b/c theirs is a bit more soft and creamy. I found myself picking some of the paneer out. The saag itself was good, but I wan't that wild about their very soft paneer. The tandori chicken was excellent. It was perfectly cooked and still juicy, which is uncommon for tandori chicken in a buffet. The other main chicken dishes were makhani, jalfrezi, and vindaloo. The jalfrezi was ok. I don't eat warm green peppers most of the time, so it was pretty much onions and chicken in a creamy tomato sauce for me. The makhani I did not like at all. It tasted like it had a lot of filler in the sauce and just wasn't very savory. The vindaloo was the other big winner for me on the buffet. It was very well seasoned and had a great flavor, though very mild. The biggest loser of the buffet was the channa masala. I took a bite and instantly something was wrong. This thing tasted and smelled VERY strong of men's cologne. I know indian dishes are sometimes made with fragrant ingredients like rose water, but this was not rose water. It even had an odd chemical taste to it that made me seriously wonder if they boiled the chickpeas in cologne instead of water. I even had my wife smell it to make sure it wasn't me. She agreed it smelled very heavy of men's cologne. It was seriously disgusting and I will never eat any kind of chickpeas from there again. <br/><br/>The owner was very friendly and some of the dishes were good, but most of it I did not care for (and one I hated). I know the place is still new and I would consider getting carry out for the dishes I did like, but there are better places closer by, so even though they gave use a card that gets repeat customers a free meal on their seventh visit (which is pretty cool) I probably will not be back.<br/><br/><br/>UPDATE - To add an update to my review, this place seems to have VERY poor business practices. I have had owners email me before about reviews, which I always welcome, but this one (on here as Maria S.) sent me a scathing email saying I should "keep my opinions to myself". I wrote back explaining my review was fair and I gave praise on the things I liked and was fair on the things I didn't, and just because my opinion was not positive doesn't mean it doesn't matter and should not be included on this site.<br/><br/>I had earlier said in my review that I would go back for carryout, but after seeing three employees padding this page with positive reviews, all of them marking Royal Taj's page with "do not like" votes (which could be legit, but...) then one of them reviewing Royal Taj with a bad review and then promoting their place in the review (including where to find it), that's going a bit far. Royal Taj is the closest indian place and Indian Bistro seems to be getting VERY competitive and childish on Urbanspoon over this. Padding your page with positive reviews, fine, that's just marketing. Clicking a competitor's page with "do not like" votes, fine, that could be legit. But then to leave a negative review on their page with directions how to find your place and how much better it is - that's not marketing, that's just dirty. I see that as poor business ethics and for that ridiculousness alone I will not be back. The owners need to learn a thing or two about business. It's fine if you don't like Royal Taj, but do you really need to resort to dirty tactics to try and promote your place? Is that really the message you want to send to your customers? If so, then good luck. I will not be one of them again.

My new favorite little Restaurant. We come here about once a week now. The staff is very friendly and always remembers what I like. They offer lunch and dinner cards to build up to free meals. The dining area is much nicer than other indian restaurants I've been to.<br/><br/>If you are already familiar with Indian food then you will know what you want to get. If you are new to Indian food, get the Tandoori Chicken Tikka. Their Chicken Pakora is also some of the best fried chicken around and a good addition to any party.

Tried the Indian bistro with some Indian friends from Mason. They were impressed with the sauces, as the curries tasted different for each dish. This is a very good little restaurant.

Best Indian food on Beechmont Avenue. We have been here several times, and each time the food and service was great. The atmosphere is very friendly. We have tried many of the dishes, and all are the best around.
