Review Mccormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks - Cincinnati

When I walked in, I was seated right away. I ordered the basic cheeseburger to see the baseline here. It turned out pretty good, and the bun surprised me the most because of the garlic aioli on it. The burger itself was juicy and what I expected. The fries were crispy and seasoned well. Order to table took about 15min - which is normal. The general establishment was very clean. Props to Derrick at the bar for taking my order!

We had a wonderful experience, thanks to Mr Al, our waiter. šŸ˜‰ The food was wonderful but I wasn't impressed with the oysters so when I go back I won't be ordering them. Overall a very nice experience!

I ordered the brand new to the menu Open Blue Cobia. It was delicious. The only less than positive is that the fish was the hottest item temperature wise on the plate. If everything was hot, I would have gladly given a full 5. The service was good. I ordered a Brandy Alexander with the meal. In my experience this drink is not made perfectly just anywhere. It was almost perfect minus the bar tender not using ice cream. I sent it back and ordered the Dolce Sangria which was tasty. For dessert, you'll see pictured their pineapple brown butter cake with cinnamon ice cream. It was OK. I've had better. All in all, the main meal was really good and service was great.

We stopped in for a drink and small plates during happy hour. The drinks were well crafted and the food was delicious. But the true standout was the service provided by Derek behind the bar. After stopping in at another nearby restaurant where the bartenders were not the least bit welcoming, we enjoyed the warm welcome, impeccable service. and courtesy Derek provided. He truly made our day.

Ask for Al, he was an amazing server! He has the absolute best attitude and was highly knowledgeable about the menu. I go fine dining quite often the food was great but the service as stated was even better. Thank you again!

A more upscale yet affordable chain restaurant. I have dined in several of their locations and the food, service and atmosphere in all have been consistently excellent.

My wife and I decided to stop in for lunch after leaving Newport aquarium and we were not disappointed. The crab cake was not just bread like some other places we've been to. She got the bourbon salmon and it was a pleasant experience. The same could be said for my swordfish. Both were very enjoyable. The portion size was perfect for a lunch and didn't leave us feeling to full the walk around and shop. This was a great experience and we will surely return when in town again.

On our Open Table reservation, Iā€™d indicated we were celebrating a birthday. Our menus had birthday greetings across the top and our table had a VIP sign on it. Nice touch! We started with the fresh briney oysters (the pomegranate mignonette is delicious!) and we think their lobster bisque, with chunks of lobster, is the best in town. We shared the walnut mixed greens salad, which they thoughtfully split for us. Itā€™s a simple yet delicious salad; the blue cheese crumbles, candied walnuts, and vinaigrette are a delightful combo. He had the twin lobster tails but opted for spinach instead of the lobster bisque mash (why?!?) which he loved. My bigeye tuna was perfectly cooked. The baby bok choy and sinus-clearing (LOL) wasabi mash were excellent accompaniments. Our service was outstanding! Thanks for a great birthday dinner!

Food was delicious! But service was slow. This the reason we skipped dessert. The website dress code is business smart, but I saw customers wearing very casual clothes.

One of the last bastions of eateries next to Fountain Square, it's a upper scale seafood type restaurant that's actually reasonably priced for where they are and how they serve. Very friendly and has an old world 30's charm with wood paneling and art deco hints looking at the square. Food wise it was decent but being critical, the fish tacos was essentially fish and chips wrapped in a tortilla. No lime, no pico de gallo, and the travesty - no Mexican hot sauce (just Tabasco). Gasp! It made it a bit dry of an experience. Other than that, it was great.

Awefull...and the manager was totally direspectful. Waited almost an hour for appetizers... Hummus and shrimp. How much prep time does that take? Bartender had to go back to the kitchen to get it an hour later we ordered. Others on either side of us we're having similar issues as well. Bartender was giving people appetizers that word came so late people had already left. Told the manager about the poor service and his first response was should he cancel our order that was in for our dinner? Not an apology told us we were welcome to leave and really didn't give a s***. There are plenty of choices downtown all of which we usually take but McCormick & Schmick's is definitely off our list permanently. And I wouldn't be surprised if some of the others dining this particular night would not come back again either.

I had a wonderful experience. Our server was very knowledgeable and accommodating. I ordered the filet and my meal was amazing. My date ordered the mixed grill ahd said the salmon portion was the best fish he's ever had. We also got the chocolate bag and Apple pie. I would def go back. All food was perfect.

Went tonight with my husband for dinner. We had reservations at 9:30 which they informed us they couldnā€™t move us any earlier. When we arrived there were more open tables than occupied ones. After about 10 minutes our server came by to tell us he would be back shortly for our drink order. Another couple minutes went by and he came back and took our drink order. Fifteen minutes later our two bottled beers arrived and we placed our dinner order because things had been moving slow. Our dinner arrived very quickly, however, my husbands first bite into his steak we found a hair. Flagged our waiter down and he apologized and told us he would talk to the manager. We asked for more bread for him while I ate my dinner. Our waiter came back and offered us a dessert. We declined due to my husband having type 1 diabetes. The waiter left and I assume it was the manager that came by and dropped his steak off without any apology or for that matter a conversation. All in all I can only assume they were short staffed either in the kitchen or as a wait staff. With the high prices however I would have expected a little more awareness that things were not going smoothly or at a decent speed. The waiter was great considering. Our Christmas dinner experience however turned out not to be.

Went on a Saturday night, requested to sit on the patio as not a single person was out there. We were seated right away.. and waited 20 minutes and no server! Had to go inside and ask. The manager Shawn did come out and apologize for our wait and removed the glass of wine from our bill (very nice). We ordered the fillet and it was excellent! Requested the mousse for dessert and they were out( very disappointed as this was one of the reasons we chose to eat here) Got apple pie to go $10/small slice/average taste not worth the price. Our server wasn't very interested in us, maybe because we sat outdoors. I was really hoping for an excellent experience as I read so many great reviews and this was the one place we chose for our special meal on a romantic weekend. As much as I love visiting Cincinnati I don't think I would go back here. But again I would like to compliment the manager and excellent fillet!

My experience in past has usually been good, but my experience Sunday was terrible, I usually pass when places are crowded because the food or service will lack in some kind of way. Unfortunately I was correct in both, our server started off good but quickly fall short, he was MIA (missing in action) most of our visited, I ordered the lump crab stuffed shrimp with red pepper and cheddar mash potatoes. The presentation was GREAT but my shrimp was lukewarm, and my mash potatoes were cold and taste like they had been sitting for awhile. Unfortunately since our server never came to ask how our food was I was until end I was unable to voice my disappointment but definitely won't order that again.

We were seated promptly and greeted right away by our server "Tim". I've had Tim before and he did the usual great job. Seems like the bar and kitchen were not quite on point tonight as it took a long time for beverages and food to arrive. We ordered a few rounds after the initial and it always seemed to take forever. The food was "okay" but not up to their usual standard. Again, the server Tim did a very good job but the overall wasn't like previous visits.

I had the bourbon glazed salmon with red pepper white cheddar mashed potatoes and green beans, it was amazing! My bf had a steak and he seemed to enjoy it. I ate every single bite, lol. Our server was great and attentive and so polite. The ambiance was nice too. It was our first time, we'll definitely come back.

This was our first visit to Cincinnati and McCormick & Schmidtā€™s. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary, friends and family. We really enjoyed ourselves. Our waiter Desmond was very professional and informative. The food was great even with the little hiccup of my husbands steak. The General Manager came over to the table and spoke with us and made sure it was corrected to my husbands satisfaction.

I have been before and the experience was good, this complete opposite. Went Saturday evening for my friend's anniversary celebration, took forever to get our food, our waiter was nice, but I think he forgot we were there. My food was mediocre and the other couple was not happy either. To top it off, came home and look in my leftover box, he didn't put all my food in. Very dissatisfied customer!

My husband and I ate there Saturday evening. Our server, Byron, was incredible and so friendly. Food was absolutely amazing! I had an incredible steak and my husband had a seafood meal with several different things on it and everything with great! We finished it off with a chocolate bag desert which was absolutely incredible! Wonderful experience!

We had the shrimp kisses as an appetizer, it was so good! The corn salsa on the plate was amazing! We filled up on appetizer and salad, so I only had one bite of my pasta. I had the blackened alfredo, it was decent. It was a little pricey for the amount of food we got.
Ken Torbeck
The service and ambiance of the restaurant were great. The food was so so at best. For a seafood restaurant the seafood that we had was not good. (Alaskan Crab Legs and scallops) We were disappointed.
Jane Marie
Happy hour meals and drinks were fabulous. The prices were so reasonable for the portion. We will be back again.

Everything we have had there has been top notch! This visit all four of us had the Fish and Chips..... the cold slaw, Fries and of course the Fish šŸ  was excellent! Crispy, Fresh and tasty!

Decent gourmet selections for brunch. A must visit if you have a seafood fetish.
