We enjoyed a very nice meal at the Summit Restaurant. We had eaten there years ago and wanted to come back as we'd had a good experience. We were not disappointed. The setting is lovely inside an old house perched on a hilltop. We ate outside on the porch as the temperature was perfect.
We had crabcakes, rutabaga soup, Caesar salad, house salad, veal Stroganoff, the Doumbek portobello mushrooms stack, key lime pie and crème brûlée. Everything was very tasty.
A few suggestions for the chef of improvements that could be made: Caesar dressing lacked anchovy taste. For the "basil feta" salad dressing, for some reason, I was expecting fresh basil, but it was just a bit of dried basil in an Italian style dressing.
The polenta served with the mushrooms was somewhat dried out. The raspberry sauce on the key lime pie overpowered and distracted from the key lime taste. And the crème brûlée needs more vanilla flavor.
Service was flawless, and we would eat there again next time we are in town.
House salad was delicious. Crab Cakes themselves were delicious and very big but the pasta underneath could have used more sauce. The green beans were also very good. Was too full to order dessert. Had some good wine and the bread is Sister Schuberts rolls so they're very good. Atmosphere is nice, clean bathrooms, large outdoor area.
Bravo to Chef Abdul and his staff for a wonderful meal. We had a party of seven, all with different orders and everything came out timely and beautifully prepared. Our waiter provided excellent service and was patient with our antics!
I had the Italian Angel, pictured. Delicious!!
I had a wonderful evening at Summit Restaurant! We sat outside on the porch where there was a lovely light breeze. Matt, our server, was wonderful...pleasant, timely & helpful. The food was delicious! I especially loved the thin baked carrot slices! They were crispy and lightly sweet. It was all so good! I took my Mom and Dad out for Mother's Day/Father's Day treat & they really enjoyed themselves. Thank you!
Such a cozy place to have a nice night out. Great for a romantic evening. The food was very well executed and the sauces were bursting with flavor.
The wait staff was attentive and prompt. Really glad they have remained open through the pandemic.
This is a definite must if you are in Christiansburg! The ambiance is so amazing, as the house is the restaurant, and all the rooms still maintain that charming appeal of period homes. The food was absolutely amazing too! We had the steak which was melt-in-your-mouth, shrimp and scallop pasta (the scallops were some of the best ive had and im from the bay), and even whipped up burgers for the kids. Had the creme brulee and it did NOT disappoint. This is on the more pricy side of dining, but not too bad. Definitely worth coming for a date night! Cant wait to try the spacious patio or porch in summer.
