Ello Cafe & Eatery

A nice café away from the rush of the other cafés in the area (and particularly the other two cafés in Ballantynes). They make a pretty good attempt at coming up with some original food options, rather than just the mass produced slices and rolls of mainstream cafés (I believe one of their items is called something like 'Unicorn Farts'). At its upstairs level, it's nice to be above the city and look across at the developments taking place in the area at the moment. The staff can be a bit mixed but are largely friendly and helpful (I asked for a regular Flat White and the girl at the counter realised it was the free one on my loyalty card so offered to make it a large instead). The loyalty card isn't particularly generous - I think it's just the regular run-of-the-mill buy 9 get 1 free. They have a mixture of tables and sofa/bench seating and also have child seats. Plenty of magazines and the newspaper to read... in case you forget your tablet.
