Cheap, authentic, no-frills Mexican restaurant. I think it does well on the otherwise expensive, upscale, full-of-frills Randolph street. Sometimes you just want a quick and easy bite to eat, and Perez is a great place for this! Additionally the margaritas are STRONG. I had two and had to go home and go to bed. The food didn't blow me away, but it was authentic and exactly what I'd expect.
I went here with a couple coworkers, and our experience was pretty good. I ordered the chilaquiles, which were on par with other restaurants in Chicago. The option to sit outside was nice, but the table and chairs weren't the most attractive or comfortable. Sure, there are lots of trendier places in the area, but the food makes the restaurant what it is. No gimmicks here, just good Mexican food, good service, and a good price.
Great food, very polite servers, and a clean bathroom. It definitely a hole in the wall and kinda sketch at first but it turned out very good
Greasy goodness. Perez served up the best quesadilla I've ever had. The copious amounts of cheese didn't hurt. Neither did the rather large helping of guac.
And the true measure of any Mexican restaurant: *great* chips and salsa. The pico de gallo was superb.
A negative: an unsolved murder show was playing loudly on the TV. The part about a woman's fingers being sawed off was less than appetizing...
