Chicago Sweet Connection Bakery

I am putting one star because the filling cream was unpleasant to the taste , something tasted weird like if the filling cream was left out for long time before used in the cake, I was so happy to eat from that cake since I tried the small pieces before and wanted to try the 8 inch to celebrate a day . I kept saying maybe it is me but my husband said it has a weird taste too . It was disappointing. Looks great cake but that taste ruined everything

First time going to this bakery and they had a really good assortment of treats. Tried the Black Forest cake, Baklava and couple of other delicacies. Totally loved all of them. The people there were really sweet too in helping and explaining stuff. I would definitely recommend this place and will surely visit again.

This past summer, we went there to order a birthday cake for my great grandma’s birthday. And wow where do I begin. The customer service was great and the cake was delicious. They really took there time with it, and they made the cake look beautiful. All of the guests at our party loved the cake, it was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Wonderful bakery.

4.0 stars. Smelled great outside and as you entered. My first visit was for an Edible Bismark and pastries. Custard was rather underwhelming, and dough was a bit leaden. Prices are typical retail with perhaps a slightly better product. Retail store in front (main bakery in rear) of baked goods sold at local area grocery stores... However, I'm a bit jaded from my own baking and travel tasting in Europe. Just an opinion here...but store bought baked goods ofter look better than they taste...There is no substitute for fresh butter, flour, eggs and yeast...

I have been calling and emailing the bakery for 2 days now trying to place an order for a cake and they are giving me the run around. Ignoring my emails, telling me they have no clue what I am talking about when I call, placing me on hold for long periods of time, etc.. I would have loved to try a new bakery, recommended to me by a coworker, but instead, I will stick with the bakery I have been using for 12+ years.

After many attempts of trying to reach the manager I finally had the pleasure of speaking to him. He is always out in meetings or never available. What type of management is that? Either way, after explaining the situation, he said all he can do for me is 10% credit because mistakes happen. So obviously if they make a mistake, just know they don’t care because they love mistakes since they happen! What kind of mistake is forgetting to do someone’s cake? OH WAIT!! BUT YOU DIDNT FORGET TO CHARGE ME RIGHT AWAY FOR THE CAKE?! Please look at the pictures as they speak for themselves. I had arranged for this cake to be ready weeks prior and was supposed to pick up the cake on Feb 4th, upon arrival they told me the cake wasn’t ready and had to wait an hour. After an hour wait, they told me the cake was still not ready that the girls from the morning forgot to print the ticket out and the cake was never started. They told me to wait another 45 mins to finish decorations. This cake was supposed to be special and thanks to Sweet Connection they made it a mess. Guests were waiting on the cake and not only that, they did get a cake but a cake poorly done. The cake was still HOT as if it had just been made and to make it worst, the cake was “cracked” in half. Additionally, I had asked for two tier cake and they only made a one tier. Please avoid trashy places like these were they lack organization and structure. The fact that they messed up and can’t own up to their mistakes. Also avoid places where there seems to be no management!! A special event turned out to be a nightmare. Thank you!

This is the most amazing bakery I have ever been to! They have such a great selection of baked goods...all the desserts made my mouth water but I went in for the galaktoboureko. A family member brought a whole tray to a holiday party and I had to have my own to bring back home! I definitely gained a little bit of weight after eating almost the entire tray by myself...but it was totally worth it! Great prices too!!! I couldn't believe how affordable everything was! Staff was great!
