Great tasting inexpensive food that hits the spot. Definitely try the lemongrass chicken, spicy catfish in clay pot or even the really tasty Tom yum soup. Cannot go wrong with any of the dishes. Street parking is available on Cermak but very hard to find on friday evenings. So head straight to the Chinatown public parking and get your ticket validated here for cheap parking.
Some of the best Vietnamese food in Chinatown. It was reviewed on Check, Please!, and we started going there regularly ever since. The #22 - #25 dishes are the best (Vermicelli noodles with beef, chicken, shrimp, or combo) with vegetables and Vietnamese sauce. And the soft-shell crab with tamarind sauce is not worth passing up. BYOB with no corkage fee.
The House Special is my favorite pho dish and for a great price. The soup is always hearty, but this last time I went, the broth seemed a little less flavorful. This was unfortunate to realize as my most recent visit was the first in some time. On more than one occasion have I needed to remind myself to CALL AHEAD OF TIME to make sure they are open. I've had at least three experiences where they were closed unexpectedly, and while this is no one's responsibility except my own to call and make sure, it has always been disappointing to arrive and see a dark restaurant. I will likely return again for the location and quality of the pho for the price.
Love to eat here on Saturday afternoons and for carryout. Favorite dishes are the Vietnamese pancake and the spicy beef salad. The service is fast and in case of language barrier, just order by number. BYOB! Its worth the trip to Chinatown.
The best Vietnamese food, especially Bun Bo Hue, I have ever seen in USA. I tried in many States but this is the best one. It's taste is nearly the same in Vietnam. I came here everyday in the 4-day-trip to Chicago in Oct 2017. And I will come here for sure if I have any chance to visit Chicago.
Delicious spring rolls; ours were huge! I've seen some other reviews that were bashing on them a little, but ours were larger than the pictures on here. The peanut sauce with them was delicious. Also a big fan of the Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk.
The big star of the night was the stir-fried pan noodle dish with seafood and veggies. The noodles were perfect: wide, crispy and crunchy at the edges, but tender and soft in the middle. I seriously crave these noodles. Tons of seafood (shrimp, imitation crab, squid, mussels, fish cake) and good veggies as well. Some places skimp on the protein and get veggie-heavy, but this dish was well-balanced.
I'd gladly visit again!
Great place and feel, they remodeled (painted and switched some stuff around) it since the last time I was there. The food is always great and the smoothies are to die for. Can't wait to go back, one of my favorite pho spots
