My Family and I have been coming here for over 20 years. It's not fancy, but, Classy. I had my first date here with My daughter's Father(RIP). The breakfast is Great, the service is great, my coffee cup was never empty, staff is Very Friendly. I believe it's Family owned and they make U Feel like Family.
I would recommend this restaurant, matter of fact, I'm going to call Chicago's Best. The world needs to know about this place...Share My Love!!!.
Best diner in Chicago. Amazing food at a great price. The staff are wonderful too. Real old school feel to this place. Just a really awesome place to grab a bite to eat.
Came here in honor of the show Shameless. The food was great and the worker was friendly. They are a cash only business and have an ATM inside. Highly recommend coming here for breakfast. The hash browns were the best part! It is on the cheaper side as well.
The soup, pancakes, and French toast here? So good!! Awesome vibes, and the service? Top-notch. I'm part of the Buena Park community board and work in real estate locally. Honestly, this spot really amps up the neighborhood. It's smack in the middle of Uptown, making it the ideal go-to for a quick breakfast or lunch. 10/10!!
I had the pineapple pancakes and the Pork with mashed potatoes, gravy and bread. The pancakes were so yum! The pork though was very hard and not tasty. The service was good, and you get free coffee refills. The booths are very close to each other, so you kinda have to talk very softly. The also only take cash, not sure why. I did-not like that at all. But they do have an atm inside, according to the signs. We just walked to a chase bank atm close-by.
Food is great and down to earth. I love their omelets and the pancakes are fantastic. The service is also incredibly fast regardless of how busy they are. I'll continue to come back and explore their menu.
The quintessential diner. Lots of places try to replicate this atmosphere, but Golden House is the real deal. Plus, it’s inexpensive—we got 3 meals and two coffees for $36, plus tip. Will be coming back!
Great place to get some cheap and delicious breakfast. They work really quick here and food usually comes out in 10-15 min after ordering. They are a cash only business and they provide an atm up front as well.
I got their French toast and was satisfied with how they tasted - they do offer regular slices french toast if that’s your preference. Their hash browns were a bit on the moist/wet side and were closer to chunky mashed potatoes than the regular hash browns that I’m used to.
Great classic diner atmosphere with quick service and good food at reasonable prices. They kept my coffee cup full. Highly recommend.
Golden House is a great cash only diner. Their prices are amazing and the service is quick. I've enjoyed everything I've ordered. The potato pancakes are my favorite, with a side of ham. The bacon and regular pancakes are also delicious.

Before I even start, this restaurant accepts CASH ONLY. There is an ATM strategically located inside the restaurant.
The diner is nothing to look at from the outside. But inside you’ll find an American diner atmosphere with booths and Tiffany lamps. Their clientele is eclectic and diverse. The atmosphere is friendly and vibrant.
Service is super efficient with waiters moving briskly from table to table.
Unfortunately we have been having typical breakfast fare of egg, bacon etc the last few days, I opted for the meatloaf, a quintessential American food I’ve never tried. We also ordered the Whiting fish and chips that came with a soup and a dessert. And we gad to order an eggs over easy, bacon and hash browns.
The meatloaf was not bad as I had nothing to compare it to. The gravy was good and the mash smooth and hot. But I wouldn’t order it again.
The whiting was decent but again it wasn’t their specialty.
The eggs and bacon was good. It is an breakfast joint after all.
Prices were fair and affordable.
So through our experience, do go but order the breakfast items. Oh, and bring cash.
Nice staff, great atmosphere, delicious food. We got the potatoe pancakes, a waffle A-La-Mode, and a coffee. Great meal. The inside is a great break from the city and brings me back to my childhood. I love it. From the authentic diner couches and bar stools, to the mirrored walls, this place is great for pictures too, and it just feels so warm. Also, they've got bathrooms.
