The food was absolutely incredible. My boyfriend and I barely spoke once the food arrived. This was my 2nd time having it and it was even better than I remembered. My boyfriend liked it so much that we ordered two plates to go for dinner. The flavors are really outstanding. The service is also excellent.

A highlight was the TEA! So special. I loved the shrimp too (they were huge!) and the pound cake was yummy! I appreciated the family feel at the restaurant.

It's the best African I've had to visit. The taste of their cuisine is Senegalese and the food is very original.

Last night was my first foray into Senegalese food and I was impressed! I had the thiou lamb and found it to be deliciously tender and flavorful with a slight, but not overwhelming, kick to it. The service was terrific as well: the front of house staff was very helpful and answered my questions about the menu (I had a lot of questions). Overall, I left satisfied, and I would happily eat here again.

Must try: fries, fataya, senegalese mint tea and the djolof rice Fries are amazingly cooked, fataya is full of flavor, djolof is well done and large portions. Good vegetarian and chicken options. Nice vibe inside and kind service who explained different menu items that were new to us. Plantains were also good, and tea was very full tasting and large portion.

Vegans can order the three sides plate. I recommend the plantains, cabbage and djolof rice. My meal was very good! The plantains were excellent. They were sweet and soft with a slight crispness on the edges.

Gorée Cuisine is a family-owned Senegalese restaurant located in the Kenwood neighborhood of Chicago. The restaurant has been in business for more than nine years and is known for its authentic Senegalese cuisine, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I have eaten at Gorée Cuisine a few times before writing this review. The other times I’ve came I ordered the Vegetarian Plate with a choice of 3 sides. Today I dined in and my plant-based choice was the vegetarian Thiou Curry, which came with Carrots, potatoes, yucca with a mixture of spices, onions and curry, a bed of white, and a cup of Gingembe to drink. I loved everything and needless to say, I cleaned my plate. The food at Gorée Cuisine is delicious and flavorful. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant also has plant-based, vegan, and non-vegan options to choose from. The service at Gorée Cuisine is friendly and attentive. The staff is always happy to answer questions about the menu and make recommendations. Overall, I had a great experience at Gorée Cuisine. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the service is friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Senegalese meal. Here are some additional details about my experience at Gorée Cuisine: The restaurant is clean and well-maintained. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is delicious and flavorful. The prices are reasonable. I would definitely recommend Gorée Cuisine to anyone looking for a great Senegalese meal.

Absolutely delicious. My partner and I came here for lunch on Sunday and wow! It was our first time and we will definitely coming back. We got the vegetarian curry and the yassa red snapper (whole fish) with a side of plantains and the bissap drink. I can’t wait to come back and try everything else. Service was nice and friendly- great vibe! Thanks for a wonderful lunch 💕
