The best Mexican food I’ve found since moving from the west to the north side. Also more affordable than the spots you find in LP/Lakeview/River North. Great spot!

The menu was huge. They offer food and drink specials. It was pretty quiet when we went, so atmosphere got 3/5. The portions are huge. We loved the nachos.

My old neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Well, in their previous Ukrainian Village location anyway. Food remains good although the margarita pricing has become silly. Best pico salsa around.

The food at Tecalitlan is very good, but it is nothing special. You definitely will not be disappointed but it is just missing something to get it over the edge. Fortunately, it comes out incredibly quickly. It was maybe 5 minutes from order to getting my food. Once you get your food, the staff will mostly leave you alone, which is great for enjoying the meal, but you may have to flag someone to pay and leave.

Had 4 different restaurant food catered for about 100 people, Tecalitlan's food (I got chicken and beef taco meat trays) was BY FAR the favorite. The food is so delicious that my kids who usually are super picky with food, DEVOUR their tacos, beans, and Mexican rice.
Carlos and Francisco are friendly and helpful! They helped so much with the catering chafing dishes, utensils, and condiments.

The food was amazing and they handled our table of 11 people wonderfully. Like most places, they can't split bills for parties that big but our group didn't mind. Service was excellent and drinks and food all came out fast and hot. Will definitely be coming back for a date night.

As a kid my parents use to take me to the original location on Ashland… so when the hacienda and the location on Chicago closed we were so sad. My parents found that this location had opened and now we will for sure become regulars again. Margaritas 10/10, tacos al pastor 10/10, quesabirrias 10/10, elote 10/10, tortilla soup 10/10. The al pastor here is by far the best…. Just beats Atotonilco, if you know you know!

Very clean, colorful art on the walls, friendly staff that were serious about getting it right. I loved the food, we had queso birria, carne asada burrito (perfect), tacos, guac, elite and margherita and all were perfect. Very comfortable setting, and a very solid food. Definitely coming back!

My review is based on a grubhub delivery: I can't believe how well packaged everything is. Nothing spilled and everything was still warm. If like me, you want a very satisfying taco dinner on a lazy Sunday and beautifully packaged margaritas, then look no further. So happy to find this gem!
