Shinju Sushi

Ordered carryout from here. I got the sushi platter to share. The food tasted great. I think everything was pretty good quality. I was disappointed that the items in my sushi platter were quite a bit smaller than I expected. They looked bigger in the menu picture, but maybe the mistake was mine. Regardless, the food was ready on time and the prices are pretty reasonable. This is the best sushi I've had so far in the Hyde Park area, so I will probably come back in the future.

Pretty laid back sushi spot. I love sushi and have had plenty throughout Chicago — the rolls here are standard, the shumai I had was delicious. I was a bit thrown off by having everything served on paper plates, styrofoam bowls, and cups. The plates were biodegradable but I was concerned with the amount of plastic being used; not great for the environment (so I took a star off for that). The staff was nice and attentive and I liked their all you can eat sushi option. The strawberry ice cream I had at the end was choice ✨I’d come back for sure, I just hope they consider switching to reusable dishes and cutlery.

Came for a late lunch and enjoyed the place. It was easy to get a spot, but I could tell that this might be quite different at a more peak time. It could get quite packed because it is a small space. The hostess and waitress were awesome. Started off with the california maki. A bit scantier than I expected. Likely wouldn't do it again. The Mi-So Ramen was very good. Quite tasty and filling. Unfortunately, I was just at a celebrated Ramen restaurant in another city, so I felt a little let down. I'm sure I would have felt better about theirs if I hadn't been spoiled. Definitely a spot I would go to again and my lunch partner is a practical regular.
