Really great atmosphere for date night. Fantastic for people watching and just enjoying the energy around the neighborhood. Food and service were fantastic. I like that the menu is diverse enough to go with a group of friends so everybody has a little something. The drinks are also great.
What an amazing place—the service and care on an extremely busy holiday was what did it for us. The food was also delicious, well prepared and an excellent variety for the holiday meal. Also, when they were out of a few items for the night they took care of us with substitutions. Wilson was a fabulous server and Lola is the best manager! Not sure how they held it together on such a busy night but we would return in a heartbeat!
The experience was great! Seating out on the street as well as inside was available. We decided to sit inside and the decor of the place was really nice. Industrial but classy. Food was great, although the balsamic reduction on the Prime Rib was a little overwhelming. My friend said his pork chop dish was 10/10.
Highly recommend ordering the grilled chicken sandwich - basil aioli and a tomato jam. It was by far the best sandwich I have ever had! The order came with fries, reminded me of McDonald thin cut fries but more crispier.
We also had the avacado toast egg, that was prepared cooked instead of poached. It was delicious
The cheese potato chips were good, but I would recommend ordering it if there are more than 2 people. It’s a large serving and very rich with cheese.
The staff were friendly and helpful
Great way to start Father's Day. Se were able to score a table outside. To start, the coffee was hot and delicious. I ordered the NY strip medium and eggs. It came perfect. The Smith came highly recommended, and now I see why. I'll be back to try the dinner options.
With so many places to choose from, put the Smith on your list of top places to hit up. Atmosphere is jammin’ (note main dining room can get a bit loud) so if you want a little less noise eat downstairs in their PDRs. Food hits all the notes and the cocktails are superb. There’s always a seasonal special cocktail and their mixologist concocts some powerful potions.
Service was quick, attentive and enjoyable. Best yet, the manager touches every table which was impressive!
Wasn't aware there was another floor downstairs, but it's definitely better than the main floor. Enjoyed the NY strip, although the meat surface was a bit overcooked. Highly recommend the mac 'n' cheese. The fried calamari was good, though the portion seemed smaller than other places. The service was exceptionally friendly.
Went to the "The Smith" before going to see the Michael Jackson Broadway show. The combination of both events turned into the best way I could have spent a Saturday night in Chicago. The only thing I could have added more was to go to the Bills/Bears preseason game in the afternoon. Such a great day.
The reviews of The Smith are off the charts, ok, so I am speaking in hyperbole, but that is fine when you are talking about this place. It is so good. The service was excellent. Our server was super friendly and unlike a lot of places didn't mind that we were a group of six people and even more surprising when we didn't order alcohol. Kudos to him!
Now for the food. The pudding was next level. It tasted like a lava cake only so much better. Order it and eat it over and over again. So good.
I ordered the pork chops and they were excellent, even the kale salad was excellent. Overall just a great experience. What was funny is the only time we could do reservations was at 5:15, so we went early and it wasn't too busy. By the time we left around 7, it was packed, including the outside tables. Well done "The Smith" well done.
We were in town visiting from Denver, and wandered in after trying to find a spot to get some breakfast and mostly encountering chain diner places with a long wait...we lucked out totally! The salmon toast was amazing, and you get a free brunch drink with your food!
Sat at the bar, had impeccable service, loved the vibe and decor, and honestly this place is probably the best food we've eaten all trip! GO HERE.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner while visiting Chicago for the weekend. Everything we ate was amazing. The filet was to.die.for! They surprised my husband with a birthday toffee pudding. It was such a nice dining experience, from the wait staff to the beautiful tile floor and the wall to wall mirrors. Go here!
