Took my girl out for brunch here in this up-and-coming neighborhood. I dove into the Muddled Breakfast (a mouth-watering mishmash of breakfast potatoes, Polish sausage and bacon, topped with sausage gravy, 2 eggs any style and a biscuit), while she had a vegan friendly version of the Fannie's Garden Salad; both of us loved our dishes. Fair price, great food, and notably welcoming service. Come and lounge in seating provided by the community, enjoy conversational artwork, and listen to the twinkling piano played live in the mornings!
This place has some character. The coffee is good and strong. Really strong. My wife was disappointed to learn they did not have a black tea in the house and ordered hot cocoa instead. She felt it was a little light on the cocoa. Regional preference? She got the Farm breakfast with eggs scrambled soft and was pleased with the plate. So many restaurants do not understand how to make a good soft scramble so she appreciated that. I had the Breakfast Muddle which sounded like a truly Midwestern take on my favorite type of breakfast dish, the scramble. Stuffed with bacon, sausage, potatoes, sausage gravy, and eggs, it did not disappoint. The only thing I would have changed was my own decision. Next time I'll get the eggs over easy... and maybe ask for a little fresh tomato on top. We seemed to have caught them off guard when we visited so the service was a little slow causing the server to be overly apologetic which I could have done without, but overall it was a good experience. We'll be back again and hopefully next time they'll be ready for us.
Excellent experience all around. Fannie's has been opened since October at this location, and this was my first time visiting. Having high expectations for any type of place this time they were exceeded without a hitch. Food was fresh, carefully prepared and designed. Most of all delicious 👌 My favorite part however, was Marty. Thank you for outstanding service and care. See you again soon.
Awesome small family-owned breakfast joint. Only a few tables inside and a few outside, that kfully it wasn't too busy but you can tell the place has it's regulars that come in for take out. The bakery items are fantastic and while their menu is small, you can tell they put a lot of thought love into their recipes. My only complaint is that they were out of a few key breakfast items when I went on a Sunday afternoon. I will definitely come back!

This is definitely a different place to have a cup of joe. I walked in and felt like I was back in my grandmas house. A comfortable feel for sure. I had a red eye and bacon with eggs. The meal was okay but the experience was fantastic.
Good cozy atmosphere. The service and food were great. I would have given them 5 stars but I wasn't thrilled about their coffee. I was disappointed because I didn't think that my coffee drink tasted good. I do recommend it for their food and service. We will be back
Great bakery, great people. Scones and coffee were perfect. Nice atmosphere.
Great little neighborhood place. Good coffee and great food. Went here with a friend from New York and we just loved it. Cozy and just relaxing we stayed for hours. We'll be back!
I first discovered Fannie's Cafe a couple of years ago when I chanced upon it while walking down Montrose Ave. It was after closing but I looked through the window and was struck by the charming ambience. I made a mental note to bring my husband here for breakfast. As it turns out, a mutual friend had recommended Fannie's to him. The friend was right!!! The food was excellent and it should be no surprise that the cafe was charming, because the owner, Stephanie, is equally charming. My husband and I have made Fannie's our go to place. We usually can be found here twice a week. I’m fond of ordering the Farm Style with a side order of bacon, however, I have also ordered the So Good Grilled Cheese and the Mac n Cheese. My husband gravitates to their Sweet Bread French Toast or their Walnut Granola French Toast. He has also ordered the Corn Beef Hash and Eggs, as well as Fannie's BLT. We can highly recommend all of these items, however, I would wager there is not a bad choice on the menu. Did I mention the excellent coffee? It goes great with some truly wonderful baked goods. Everything we've sampled has been terrific...but the scones were out of this world. Succinctly, do not cheat yourself out of the dining experience known as Fannie's Cafe.
My wife and I were regular customers at Fannie's Cafe when they were at their previous location. Now that they are on Milwaukee Avenue, we have once again become regular customers. My wife and I usually brunch two to three times a week at this new location. We tend to order the Farm Style or the So Good Grilled Cheese sandwich. Usually we order these with their bacon which taste much better than most places. Sometime we order it with ham off the bone, which is also quite good. Occasionally we order the Biscuits and Gravy which, incidentally, is the best biscuits and gravy we ever had. Only recently have we been ordering Fannie's homemade soups. We have had the chicken noodle as well as the split pea with ham. They were both incredible. Did I mention the excellent coffee? It goes great with some truly wonderful baked goods. Everything we've sampled has been terrific. We are particularly fond of the carrot cake...although the scones were also out of this world. I highly recommend this charming cafe.
