Setup a little odd. Counter staff wasn't super friendly as I was lost on my first visit. But dig the old school deli vibe. No frills.

Great subs. Great vodka sauce. The sandwich counter was a little intimidating at first for someone from a one stoplight town. Be ready to order! No time for questions. Just get everything on it. It’s all good.

“Welcome to your new addiction,” said the woman behind the counter. And she was absolutely right! I has the 6inch blockbuster with hot giardinara - delicious cuts, fresh ingredients, perfectly textured bread, a yummy worth-the-messiness treat! The spot is unassuming (quiet music, open space, no fuss tables and chairs) and easy to miss, but paired with speedy, very kind service make this spot a true hidden gem. I’m glad I asked for a punchcard on my way out - I’ll be coming back!

I had heard a lot about this place so I finally made time to stop in. I ordered a blockbuster sub and I enjoyed it. The price was reasonable. I think that from all the hype, I was expecting something really special, but it ended up being just a high-quality sandwich. I still would highly recommend this place for a great sandwich, but don't expect anything life-changing.

My first time here was back in 2013 when I was going to UIC. This place forever changed my standard on what an authentic Italian sub should taste like. Always fresh ingredients, the consistency has been incredible. I've never had a bad sandwich from here! My favorite has always been the blockbuster, today I went for a simple ham and turkey but also outstanding as always! 100% recommend

EXCELLENT “Wise Guy” sub!! Went here for lunch two days in a row while in town for a robotics competition at Credit Union1 Arena. Short walk & completely worth it! I’ll be visiting from Ohio AGAIN!! Thank you!

Had the opportunity to visit Fontano's subs while Visiting UIC for a tournament. Amazingly fresh subs and wonderful staff made the place a great choice. Looks like I'm covered for lunch and dinner with the 16-oz wise guy. The peppers are a must

Delicious sub sandwiches with nice thick hearty bread made however you want. Wish more hot sandwich places used bread as good as theirs. Great neighborhood spot for those who don't need to find a place to park as most local parking is by permit only.
