The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere were amazing! This place is a neighborhood gem! The waiter was very knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations on what food and drinks to order. We also really appreciated the manager coming by and checking in on us several times, it shows that they really care about customer service. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice casual place to eat and drink, as well as someone looking for a great date night destination. I'm really looking forward to when the weather warms up enough to eat in their outdoor area.
I came here on a weekday during happy hour followed by dinner and had a blast! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and overall the food was yummy! Some of the cocktails are a little sugary, but have no fear... Ask the bartender and she'll make a great recommendation. For being a "small plates" style restaurant, I found the portions were quite generous. One of my favorite dishes is the pork shank...the most tender and flavorful meat I have eaten in a long time!! The dessert brownie was also decadent and hit the spot. Tip: add an extra scoop of vanilla gelato if you're feeling extra rich! I can't wait to be back to try more dishes!!
This place is absolutely amazing! From the romantic ambience, attentive staff, friendly host and exceptional food, it is a gem! We had a wonderful date here and will definitely be coming again for lunch or dinner. The drinks and the food were great and it is a great addition to the neighborhood. Although the prices should be a little lower since they aren't in the west loop but in pilsen. It is one of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time!!
Good restaurant in the middle of Pisen. Inventive menu. Competent (but overpriced) wine list. Great grilled cauliflower appetizer and tacos. Excellent home made pasta. Steak tartare is too bland, but comes with grilled bread, which is too soaked in bone marrow, which may make it a bit better.
What a fun place. Friends and I made a reservation for brunch. The brunch menu is a concise. We liked that. Everything was really tasty. I loved the fresh naked biscuits for biscuits and gravy. But, whatever you do, make sure you get some fries. They are coated in flour before they are fried. They are so crispy and good. $30 mimosa carafes with fresh OJ were just perfect.
I loved the pattern on the walls. So quirky. I was a little surprised how empty it was, but there was a snowstorm outside.
This place made me excited about the Pilsen restaurant scene.
Oh, and the bathrooms were really chilly.
It was yummy I had the burger and it is now on my list of favorite burgers in Chicago. The bread taste like a buttery yeast rolls. I also had the roasted cauliflower and they were equally as yummy! It was my besties bday so we had the brownie that was great as well it was very rich. Bestie had the shrimp risotto and the brussel sprouts which she also enjoyed.
I. Was. Impressed. The three things that really matter when you go out to eat are the food, service, and atmosphere and all 3 were on point. Chicken and waffles were awesome and so were the chilaquiles. The service is what really sold me though because I was made to feel like they were paying special attention to me. At one point my girlfriend's butter knife fell on the floor and it seemed like they were at our table with a replacement before it even hit the ground. We went for brunch, but I'll be back for other meals fo sho.
Pretty decent restaurant. The mussels are very tasty; the curry sauce adds a good flavor to it! The burger was so so! Asked my burger without the cheese and got it WITH the cheese!
Their open air space is cool! Cute decorations and change to the indoor dining! Had they not messed up my order I would have considered giving them 5/5!
Had a great time at the bar chatting with the bartenders as we observed their drink-making-skills. As a gin lover, I had the purple rain and the tipsy gardener. Both were smooth, balanced, aesthetically pleasing drinks. However, Tipsy Gardner had a more mellow flavor that did not saturate the pallet as fast. (I should clarify I am a bit bias because I love basil).
Since it's opening I have not had a bad experience at this establishment. The food is amazing, the drinks are better. My wife even decided to have her bridal party here and this place has not been open that long goes to show how Monnie's is becoming a fan favorite of mine. From entering in to leaving I feel every customer is being cared for and all the meals have a uniqueness to it. I can't stop complimenting here.
