The food is always served hot and fresh. The service is always prompt, attentive, and friendly. My favorite dishes are: hot turkey open face sandwich which is served with delicious mashed potatoes and gravy, the big man which is a breakfast that fills even the hungriest of my appetites, and any of their soups. There is nothing finer on a sunny morning than eating on their clean outdoor patio which is also dog friendly. It's worth a trip no matter where you are in the city. If there is only one place you go to for breakfast in Chicago make it The Alps.
This place is the bomb! Amazing breakfast! Amazing staff! Amazing portions! I am in love.
Very good place to grab some traditional diner like food. Atmosphere is nice, with open dining area and service was great. Servers were friendly and attentive to needs. Tried the breakfast, food was hot and fairly quick to table. Enjoyed experience overall.
I visited for the first time today. I was looking for a breakfast place in the area that has parking. We were greeted when we walked in. It took our waitress a while to come to our table. Don’t judge. She had a huge table she was attending AND another employee came to the offer a drink and take our order. Our food came out quickly and it was delicious. I had an omelette and my son had a skillet. When we did meet our server she was warm and friendly and attentive. I asked the busboy for a to-go cup of water and he gladly brought me one. It was a cool damp day and inside it was warm and comfortable. Also the bathroom smelled of Clorox and was clean. YES!!!
We went at 10:15am on Friday, December 22, 2023.
Always good meals. Their omelettes and skillets are the best! Also on Sundays they have the best cream of chicken rice. ..oh yes and if you like pancake, you'll love then here ( fluff tasty pancakes!)
We were in Chicago got the weekend and searched for a near by breakfast place. Alps did not disappoint! Great service that was fast. Delicious food! My son said the chicken noodle soup was the best he’s had. Do not leave without pancakes! So yummy. Can’t wait to go back.
Haven't been here in a long time since moving out of town 7 years ago so the Chicago pricing with inflation was a little shock, but not ridiculous for what you get. Food was excellent and cooked quickly to order. I ordered chef's steak which I wasn't sure if it was like a cubed steak or chopped steak so I ordered it medium to be safe, but it came out as what looked like a decent cut of sirloin and the cook served it more like medium rare in the middle and mostly medium which was perfect for the cut, tender and flavorful. The toast on the side came automatically with a mango jam or curd of some sort that was very good and a thoughtful difference than diner packets of various Smuckers offerings. Our server Austin was great with timing as well being attentive and friendly and I noticed the other front of house staff seemed on the ball as well. Everything was clean and decently lit, and it seemed like there was a good flow of people coming and going. Solid experience for breakfast and will have to swing by for a lunch next time I'm back home in the old neighborhood.
The food was delicious. Better than I expected. We ordered biscuits & gravy w/ a side of sausage & Chicken Stir Fry which cane w/ a salad. Delicious garlic dressing. The waitress was funny and our drinks stayed filled. When we took some of the biscuits & gravy to go, she offered us extra gravy. It came in a to go cup usually used for a small drink or soup. It was filled to the top, no charge. Excellent overall experience. I will be frequenting this restaurant a lot more often.
The service was timely. We were a party of 4 without reservations and waited less than 1 minute to be seated. Waitstaff was corteus and bordering on amusing. Food was delivered just in time and it was delicious. One of us had pancakes, others has waffles. It was very good. I will definitely come back next time I am in Chicago.
Their food selection is very good, and the taste is even better, 👌 😋 🔥 💯 their waitresses are very helpful and always there for you. Their omelets are superb, and they also include fruits in their choices, orange juice is fresh, and coffee that does not taste like aged in the brewer, bathroom clean, and they even have a coat rack for convenience. Price is fair for what you eat, pay them a visit with the family, you won't regret
I started out my visit with a hott bowl of rice & chicken soup. There was a generous portion of rice in my delicious soup; I added a few drops of hot sauce to make it perfect. For anyone that's looking for a healthy cold plate on a got summer day I highly recommend their stuffed avocado with tuna salad, cucumbers, tomatoes, greek olives, and a few pepperocini peppers for added flavor and juice. To drink ask them for a slice of lemon and add it to your water on ice. Thank me later. I'll be back. Plenty of private parking available.
Food was fantastic. Portion sizes were on the big side. Everyone that worked here was super nice and happy. Austin was our server and great. Green salsa was awesome. I would definitely come back and recommend others to go and enjoy Alps Pancake House
