The food is a little hit or miss. Croque madame is great, the potatoes are wonderful, the crepes were underseasoned, and the grits were watery. great staff, very cute restaurant

We stopped here for breakfast and were blown away. Food was great, but the real star was our server August. One of the best servers we've ever had! He was attentive, had a great personality, and he also gave us great tips about finding our way around town. Fantastic!

The food is always solid here. No frills, but delicious. The only issue I have is with the coffee. It’s a bit bitter and I always forget this until I’ve settled at the table. The waitress says some people like it and some hate it. Why not have two coffee options then? Otherwise, service is good and friendly, and food comes quickly when it’s not busy (I normally visit on weekday mornings.) Overall a solid breakfast place.

We made a quick stop at this spot for breakfast on our way to Diversey Harbor. Friendly service. It seemed like the people working were all friends & got along well, which is nice! Tasty breakfast food- you can tell that the guys in the back kitchen were working very hard. It seems like they have a busy takeout/delivery business for breakfast. The food was good and so was the coffee. The only exception was the cinnamon roll which tasted like it was at least a day old. The awnings outside definitely need a cleaning and brightening up, that would make the place look much more inviting. I’ll go back!

The ENTIRE team at this location works incredibly hard. Every time I go in there you can’t tell the difference between the MANAGER and the staff because they work as a team. Today I learned the managers name, and biggest props to Sierra, the wait staff, and the cooks.
The execution here is something to be admired if you know what to look for. Will be back again and again :)

Stopped in for breakfast while visiting the old neighborhood. Service was quick and attentive. Breakfast was decent. My husband ordered French toast and a large milk, I ordered Oatmeal with toppings added and a coffee. There is not much you can do to mess up breakfast so I typically rate my experience by the drinks. My husband's large drink was served in a 6 oz glass that at first I thought was my creamer. Our waters were served in the same size glass (they looked like old jelly jars). It was just very unusual and small (and expensive for the size at $3). I didn't care for the coffee, which was lukewarm. Also it tasted similar to Starbucks coffee and I am not a fan of Starbucks as they over-roast their beans. Oatmeal was good though and it was a healthy portion so I appreciated the amount of toppings to balance the bowl. It was a little pricey for two for breakfast ($50 with tip).

Update Sep-2021: My wife and I have become regulars at Yolk Lakeview. The service and food quality hold up every time. I would rate them 6 stars without a doubt!
Original review, May-2021: My wife and I are new to the Lakeview area. We walked into this Yolk location for the first time and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and a very friendly service from Rachel, who raised the definition of “welcome” to a whole new level! Delicious food, awesome coffee and just an amazing experience. We will come back for more, for sure!

Ate here twice in a row because we loved it so much! The breakfast mac and cheese was gooey and delicious, the French toast was also sweet and delicious. The second day I had the eggs bennie capreese which was also super yummy.

I had this place all wrong! We used to order from Doordash and we thought it wasn't very good, but it's a much nicer experience in person. My son and I had the strawberry-orange juice, the salted caramel latte, and the all star special. I was a little disappointed it didn't come with hashbrowns, but it was still a tremendous amount of food-they have great sausage and bacon. The latte was a little on the sweet side for my taste, but still really good! Severs were also super nice. Definitely coming back.

Was hoping for a 5 star review from what we heard from others. Food was good, service was good, coffee was good. No complaints, just not at 5 stars. You will enjoy it.
