I was recommended by a few people to go to Ann Sather's and it was so good I went to two different locations. I will only write a review for this one, but both were outstanding.
Food: Their draw is cinnamon buns and since I am borderline obsessed with them, I told myself I have to get them. It was DELICIOUS, no other way around it. Their eggs were done perfectly scrambles, the sausage links were okay, but their fruit bowl was amazing, I was both surprised and impressed.
Service: Service in both places were exceptional. Everyone works as a team from what I saw and there is never an issue.
Aesthetic: Very nice diner-style eating, good environment in a great neighborhood.
If you’re looking for good food at a decent price, then this place would be a good choice. If you’re expecting crispy fried potatoes when you order the hash browns though, you’ll be in for a shock because these hash browns are more akin to potatoes from my own pot roast.
As far as cinnamon rolls go though, this place has the best ones I have ever eaten, hands down! Go in and get them as a prelude to your main breakfast order, eat everything in front of you and then get a half dozen to take home, because you’re going to be craving them a couple of hours later anyway!

Don’t eat the cinnamon rolls!!!! They put a ingredient in them that makes you sleepy and gain weight. Other than that breakfast was delicious.
We loved the cinnamon rolls they are the best! We also had eggs benedict with salmon it was good. But the waiters are rude from the minute we entered the restaurant. I don't even know why
Wonderful, delightful breakfast food. Cinnamon buns - are super delicious. We all had omlettes or eggs of some sorts. Very wonderful and generous portions. Quick efficient service. Very pleased. No wonder this is a Chicago landmark. Will be going back on our next visit.
While visiting Chicago, my friend recommended Ann Sathers Restaurant for breakfast. What a great recommendation! The food was fresh, served in large portions and presented beautifully. The service was quick and friendly. The cinnamon rolls were the perfect indulgence to my tasty breakfast. The price for breakfast was very reasonable. I will definitely return as soon as I visit Chicago!
First time here and the breakfast was great! Didn’t know it was Swedish style because the menu had so many alternative choices! My partner got the Mediterranean omelette and I got the V-4 omelette with a side of VERY addictive cinnamon rolls! Outstanding breakfast for a reasonable price! So much food for under $35! Must go if in LakeView!
Always great service here! This place is about as good as it gets. Great tasting coffee. Awesomely delicious food! I've never had a bad meal here. I'm so glad that we can eat inside and enjoy their great service and delicious food again! This place has the best swedish meatballs! And their cinnamon rolls are perfection!
If you prefer small portions and overpriced food, then you won’t like Ann Sather. The cinnamon rolls are amazing. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend!
Our two top table was tiny. I imagine the plates are so expensive because of the huge sides! They give you two cinnamon rolls which are incredible. Unfortunately they use sugar packets and creamer cups, which is annoying. Coffee was strong and slightly bitter. My wife had the crab benedict and she thought it was great. My bacon was perfect. They had a food runner which made sure the breakfast was hot!
Ann Sather is a staple brunch spot in the Lakeview neighbourhood of Chicago. Come for the cinnamon rolls of which they give you two minimum with your order. They are covered in icing, served warm, and do not disappoint.
Phenomenal delicious food, the chicken fajita omelet was delicious as were the cinnamon rolls. Was very busy when I visited, and service wasn't slow, but definitely hindered due to the crowd.

The staff was very polite and attentive, the service was quick and the food was very yummy. Whatever you are going to eat, don’t forget the guilt free cinnamon rolls as a side so leave some room for this suger fix.

Holy moly this place is amazing! Such big portions of tasty food!!! The cinnamon rolls are a must but they will fill you up so much you’ll need a take-home box for your main order! Absolutely Delicious.
Great diner. The sunrise breakfast wrap is next level great and the 2 sides make it such a nice full meal. I love it. Staff is always accommodating in person and over the phone.
Context: the first time I came to ann sather I got something I didn't really like and I thought I didn't like the restaurant. I'm super glad I came back to try something else.
Best cinnamon rolls I've ever had! Came for breakfast. Restaurant was full but did not have to wait for table. The food was great. Especially for the price. Come hungry because portions are generous. Service was excellent. Although he was very busy our server was fantastic.
