Ja'grill Hyde Park

The Whole Red Snapper is an Absolute must to have. I loved it!!!! My partner got the Jerk Salmon, it was far to spicy. We went at about 2pm, they didn't have any oxtail (oxtails was my reason to go to Ja grill 😔) they said they wouldn't be ready until after 4pm😞. They didn't have any bread Pudding as advertised 😞. I was disappointed because I didn't get what I went for but the Whole Red Snapper was delicious 😋 so delicious I will go back just for it.

Was in Hyde Park for a biz dinner and was hungry for lunch. Happened upon Ja' Grill. Omg was it amazing! Sat at the bar. Ordered the lamb chops appetizer and the cabbage. So delicious. And so was the bourbon martini. Enjoyed talking to the locals at the bar. The bartender was delightful and she made some damn good drinks! Can't wait for my next trip to Chicago.

Celebrated #56 here with my sweet family! It was just simply worth it!!! The lamb chops were the size of pork chops! There were succulent, savory, so well-seasoned. Everything that I ate was delicious. The atmosphere was live and vibrant. I would celebrate a birthday at this establishment any day!!!

Man, do I love Ja Grill. Particularly in this location in Hyde Park, the vibe is just completely different than the one in the south loop. They stay pretty busy, but you can at least grab a seat at the bar. First, the rum punch here is the best I've had! They do great cocktails and the bartender is someone fun to watch. Now the food... delicious! Delicious. Delicious. I've never had bad or off food from here. They do jerk just right. The jerk sauce, I could drink it if it weren't as spicy as it is, yet still has so much flavor. My favorite is the lamb chops. The entrees come with their rice and beans, outstanding, and plantains, cooked perfectly. Hands down, this is a great place for any type of event! They also have tvs at the bar so you can watch the games.

Ja Grill is a Jamaican restaurant located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. The restaurant offers a variety of authentic Jamaican dishes for both vegan and non-vegan guests. Ja Grill also has a full bar with a wide selection of rum drinks. I recently had the opportunity to dine at Ja Grill and I was very impressed with the food and service. I started with an appetizer. The Veggie Patty, which is a Jamaican-style patty filled with seasoned vegetables. The patty was very flavorful and juicy. For my main course, I had the Ital Stew, which is one of Ja Grills’ signature dishes. The Ital Stew is totally vegan made with callaloo, butter beans, carrots, onions, mixed vegetables, herbs, spices, and sautéed in coconut cream. The stew was very flavorful and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. I also had a Jamaican Old Fashioned, which is Mount Gay Barrel Rum with Jamaican Bitters. The drink was very smooth and flavorful. The service at Ja Grill was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She made sure that we had everything we needed and she was always checking on us to make sure that our food was good. Overall, I had a great experience at Ja Grill. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I would definitely recommend Ja Grill to anyone looking for a great Jamaican meal in Chicago. However, there is one thing that I would like to mention about Ja Grill. The cell phone reception inside the restaurant is very poor they had a guest connection but it was locked. The cell phone is need to upload the menu from the QR code. Very small inconvenience but definitely DID NOT ruin the vibe.

A good brother of mine took me to this spot the summer of 2022. Since then, it has become my favorite restaurant to visit next to Pizza Capri in Hyde Park. I love the Jamaican Punch drink. The bartender always makes the drinks 🍸 just right. I was shocked to find 2 items that were not on the menu recommended by the waiter. One of them was Jerk Jamaican Skirt Steak. Believe me when I tell you it was delicious and its highly recommended.
