Fabulous ome-Kaze menu with the chef himself. Great fish, excellent preparation, and wonderful selections with fresh wasabi and other seasonings. We highly recommend!
Amazing is an understatement! The second you walk in the door, you’re taken into a hip cool spot with amazing sushi. Every detail of the ambiance adds to the experience. The sushi is phenomenal and the cocktails are fun and creative. The best part is how you know where the bathroom is, you’ll see . I highly recommend Sushi-San to anyone that loves sushi and a good time!
Sushi-San was recommended to us by our concierge and I have to say it's probably one of the best recommendations we've received in quite some time. When you arrive and see the decor from outside to inside, you know that it's going to be a great evening and the food will be on point. The atmosphere was amazing even though it was loud, there was still an energy about the place that drowned out the background noise.
Our waiter was wonderful, patient and very helpful with the menu and checking in on us throughout our entire time there. I ordered the Beef N Bop and it is one of the best meals I've had at a sushi restaurant. Everything I tried that others ordered was delicious also because we wanted to try many different things. The portion sizes they give you are worth the money as well.
The menu is very diverse and any type of sushi you're looking for, you'll most likely find here. If you find yourself in Chicago on vacation or just looking for a great sushi spot then Sushi San is the place to go.
Sushi-san is a relaxed, casual restaurant that delivers very good appetizers and basically good sushi. I really enjoyed the Hamachi Crudo and Umami Scallop…very delicious. The flank steak with spicy mustard was prepared perfectly and paired well with the Japanese eggplant tempura. A sweet finish was the Okinawa sugar pie, quite delightful. Though not a melt in your mouth sushi experience, sushi-san was good enough to get a return visit if I’m in the area.
This place is a great experience AND the sushi is incredible. So fresh and so good. The atmosphere is full of energy and life. Very modern and hip. Perfect to celebrate the traditional sushi place through their awesome sushi and enjoy the experience.
The Kanpachi was our top favorite. And they have three grades of tuna from lean to fatty. The Uni is TOP NOTCH! The service was outstanding!
This will always be my go-to sushi place in Chicago.
I had an incredible dining experience at Sushi San.
The variety of dishes we ordered, including Sushi, Maki, Eggplant Tempura, Shrimp Tempura, and Sizzling Rice, were all outstanding. The sushi was fresh and expertly prepared, and the maki rolls were a delightful combination of flavors. The Eggplant Tempura and Shrimp Tempura were crispy and delicious, adding a delightful crunch to our meal.
One of the highlights was the Sizzling Rice, which was not only flavorful but also a unique and memorable dish.
The ambiance and service were top-notch, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal. Whether you're a sushi enthusiast or looking to explore Japanese cuisine, Sushi San is a must-visit when in Chicago. The exceptional taste and dining experience will leave you craving for more.
We had an extraordinary time here. The service was very good, very attentive and with very good attitude as he took care of us. The food was great, nice flavor, perfect sushi time. We will surely come back. And as we celebrate Jen’s B-day they had us mochies with a candle for the wish.
We came here for my birthday dinner. The D-luxe nigiri was the best. Its exquisite and delicate taste and texture can’t be found anywhere else. I recommend eating it without wasabi. We love the Okinawa sugar pie for dessert.
We will definitely come back again.
We loved our experience here last Thursday evening. I enjoyed the miso soup so much that I ordered it again for carry out a few days later. The shishito peppers and the Blue Fin Tuna and Avocado roll were delicious. My companion enjoyed one of the stone bowls in the picture below and the chicken nuggets. The low lights create an intimate experience and the music keeps the vibe really upbeat. Everyone we encountered was really welcoming and kind.
Overall I would not return, but I really liked the atmosphere and feel in this restaurant. Presentation of the food also 5/5. The shrimp tempura for the appetizer was great. I got a spicy salmon roll as well as a spicy tako (octopus) roll and they were only average. All of this I paired with their house old fashioned which was a very good drink. To finish off the night, I had the chocolate. They were so delicious! So overall, I give the food 4/5 with the mixed results. Price for what I got was on par. Not too expensive, while the presentation was top notch. As far as the service, I was quite DISAPPOINTED. They charge a 3% restaurant surcharge which I had removed. The service was not great. Long waits and never checked on, but the kitchen staff was fast with the food itself. In addition, the front host (skinny man dressed with dress shirt) huffed at me when I asked for a table for myself after he asked me to take a tight bar seat, which actually was taken I found out. Rude. The lady working was very friendly though. Overall service, 2/5. I would probably NOT RETURN with my experience with service and average sushi sadly. Maybe find another option in the area.
Really cool spot, great friendly service, not too overbearing but knowledgeable and kind. We ordered the lunch specials and their rendition of a bibimbap, which was my fav. Their raw fish was super fresh, just as fresh as some spots I've had on the west coast. We got some rolls to go and they were generous portions. Loved it
This place has great sushi. I have had a good experience every time I came here. I think 4 times. The vibe is cool and gotta love ❤️ the sake bomb!
