The Sun Wah duck feast is an incredible dining experience, offering a whole duck served over three courses: roasted duck served in slices (with steamed buns provided), duck soup, and a choice of duck rice or noodles. It's an ideal spot for larger group dining. Their Cantonese BBQ selections are amazing as well, and we especially loved the roast pork. The goat dusted fish from their regular menu is another standout dish, with perfectly textured fish fried with salty egg flavor.

This meal was phenomenal! I crave the Peking duck since we went there all the time. They have limited number of the ducks for the day, so I would definitely give a call before you go, or go early. The amount of stuff that comes with it is a lot, so it’s definitely worth the price. The broth was so good as well as the best bao buns I’ve ever had. Would go back to Chicago just for this place.

Their pecking duck is the best! It's not on the menu but if you tell them that you want to order the pecking duck they'll know what you want. Basically you get a whole duck and they will cook it THREE way for you. First, they will slice the meat off the whole duck (on the side of your table) and it will be served with bao. Then the leftover meat on the bone will be cooked into fried rice. Last but not least, the bones are made into yummy soup! I think this is good for 2-4 people. I believe it is around $70 for everything which is very worth it.

We went for lunch and we didn’t see it on the menu, but the waitress knew that the Peking Duck “Dinner” was probably what we wanted! Grateful that she mentioned it otherwise we would’ve assumed it wasn’t available. 10/10. I’d get it again. Definitely something I’d treat out-of-towners to especially! Really great experience if you like duck and you get a lot of food too! The duck is obviously the star, but the soup and fried rice were fantastic too! Balanced everything out, such a great idea. (Note: At the time of writing this there’s a sign on the door that says you need a mask to enter. We didn’t have any on us and almost left, but we walked in to see if they had any and no one was wearing one. Glad we didn’t leave without checking!)

Sun Wah BBQ is a Chicago institution. There’s a reason they’ve been doing this for 35 years and it shows. Never before have I experienced anything like the Beijing Duck dinner. A multi course affair where a whole roasted duck is carved table-side, bao and toppings are provided, then they make duck fried rice from the trimmings, and duck soup from the bones. Call ahead and reserve and bring some hungry friends. The staff is always courteous and incredibly helpful. The quality of the food is top notch and I’m constantly impressed with everything I’ve tried from here. These folks are absolutely duck experts and you’re missing out if you’ve never tried it. As a bonus, I’ve also tried their extra crispy egg rolls which pair perfectly with their house made chili oil. The char siu bao was also exceptional.

We got the off-menu “Beijing Duck Dinner” for lunch, which you need to call in advance to reserve. It’s a multi-course meal that uses every part of the duck in each course, and costs $60 total. Split among 4 people, it was a good amount of food at a very reasonable price. It started with a server carving up the roasted duck meat in front of us into slices, which are paired with 6 steamed bao buns and pickled vegetables. This was quite good— the baos were soft, the meat was tender flavorful, and the vegetables added a fresh and light crunch to it. The next course was a bone broth soup, which was savory and hearty. The final course was Duck Fried Rice, which contained egg, peas, bean sprouts, and small portions of the remaining duck. It tasted pretty good; the duck pieces in it made it more greasy and flavorful. We also ordered the on-menu stir-fried eggplant, which was a bit flavorless. The restaurant itself is very spacious and decorated simply, with a casual ambience. Overall, the food and prices were solid, and I’d be glad to come back again especially for the duck dinner. — Price (relative to peers): 4.5/5 Food: 4.3/5 Ambience: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Overall Value: 4.3/5

This places gets really busy so make sure you make reservations! The food isn’t absolutely unforgettable but the table side Peking duck experience where they slice the duck super fast is not what you’ll usually see. The Peking duck comes with 3 dishes; the sliced duck with buns, duck fried rice and the duck bone soup. Stay away from the beef tendons and congee though! Beef tendon had no taste and was super soft and the congee is very bland. This place gets really loud and serves liquor, I don’t drink so I can’t say how their cocktails are.

Get the popular Peking duck dinner; easily feeds a group of four! They carve the duck table side; they take the carcass to the kitchen and make soup and fried rice for the table. You also get pickled veggies and rice bar buns for the duck meat.

I had the whole Peking Duck meal, where they serve the crispy skin, and cook the rest of the duck meat in fried rice and made soup from the bones(which is surprisingly good). The Peking duck is juice, good sauce, just like the ones in Hongkong❤️ the place is clean, the waitresses were quick and helpful. Can't wait to go back to try their other dishes, especially their BBQ meat😁

The Peking Duck was superb. It was a delight to all. So much flavor. The sides were enormous. One order of PD with its soup and noodles could easily feed 3-4 people. We ordered 2 ducks, 3 entrees and an extra soup for 5 people. We took home 6 containers of leftovers and 2 quarts of soup. The service was exceptional. The food was delivered so fast. We had a reservation for 5:30, and by 5:45 we were eating. You must order 48 hours in advance if you want the Peking Duck. Well worth the cost. Sun Wah BBQ did not disappoint. Can't wait to go again.
