I loved the experience. Our server was authentic Kurdish and graciously tolerated us peppering him with our questions about the people and the land. He tauvht us a few Kurdish words (our request). We sampled each others dish and everything was delicious. My son said the Kurdish coffee was delicious and very different from Turkish coffee. I got the lamb shank. YUM! Washrooms were spotless. We split the Kurdish bahklava because the rice pudding and apricot had been sold out but we were very pleased. Our hostess was very friendly and warm. She helped us to decide our choices. She was a lot of fun to talk to. A great place to meet friends or take a date. You could, but I would suggest not bringing small kids.

Loved the atmosphere. Our server was excellent. We will be back to try more items on the menu. Portions were very generous. We had the appetizer sampler platter, stuffed chicken and salmon. Delicious!
I loved this place, food was absolutely delicious and presentation was simply amazing, our server was very pleasant and had lots of knowledge about recipes, spices and Kurdistan cuisine!!! Will be back for sure and would highly recommend as a very unique experience !!!
What an amazing experience! The staff, ambiance and the food were on point! Our whole group was very excited with every dish, the flavors were developed incredibly that tickled your palette. I would definitely go back soon. Highly recommendeded!!!
I love love love this place and the amazing owners and staff. The food is absolutely amazing, including dinner as well as the Kurdish Breakfast. I am from Nashville, TN and we have the biggest Kurdish population in the US, but nothing we have in Nashville compares to the amazing atmosphere, creativity, hospitality, and authenticity of Gundis Kurdish Kitchen. This has been a staple of our trip to Chicago. Thank you Mehmet and staff.
Always a fantastic experience. Kind and generous servers, excellent food, great atmosphere. I wish they had a nicer outdoor patio for the summer but maybe that will come in time. This is our new favorite place in the neighborhood. Have not been disappointed with the menu yet. And I am now completely addicted to Kurdish coffee, there's nothing like it!
This little gem is truely serving up delicious food. There is nothing on the menu that is boring. The chicken is wonderful. The shrimp with lemon rice knocked my socks off.
A great addition to the area. Have been in 3 or 4 times- food is very good, and the salads in particular are gorgeous and fresh. The space is beautiful, they have a lovely wine list, and I really cannot say when I've ever had better service. Special thanks to Mehmet.
Great lamb dishes appetizers wine and very attentive staff. The wine list was great and the Kurdish tea was delicious. All around pleasure and also very reasonably priced.
I love this restaurant!! The atmosphere is perfect, the food is fresh and delicious and the service was impeccable. Iāve found my new healthy āgo-toā neighborhood place.
Excellent service, good food, good price, would highly recommend for a date night. It is close to the Brown line in a trendy neighbourhood.
Amazing from beginning to end! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Great Kurdish Breakfast/Brunch! Friendly Staff! Great place for traditional tea, coffee! Highly Recommended!
Such an enjoyable brunch! Delicious food and fabulous wait staff! The restaurant is spacious and modern. Will definitely go back.
A fantastic space with awesome š staff thanks Fredy for being so nice. Food is delicious the breakfast for two is awesome. Eggs with Lamb! And the apricot preserves are divine.
Delicious brunch option compared to the classic American version. Highly recommend getting the Kurdish Brunch and just sit back and enjoy the show. The dipping sauces/jam/butter are amazing. The cheese sticks are a standout, and thereās a vegan friendly version. My wife loves this place!
The dining experience at Gundis Kurdish was very enjoyable. We stopped by for Sunday brunch around noon, and even though the restaurant was bustling, we were seated fairly quickly. The service was efficient and attentive throughout, and the restaurant itself was quite spacious with lots of natural light.
The brunch offerings were fantastic. The Turkish Coffee was bold and rich, while the Kurdish Coffee was more sweet and creamy. The Sharable Sampler was a definite highlight, showcasing a variety of dips, with Baba Goulash particularly standing out. The soft scramble with lamb and Soujouk were both flavorful, and the fries that came with the entree were a delicious addition.
All in all, it was a solid dining experience with great food, generous portions, and attentive service. We look forward to returning and trying their dinner menu next time.
A great authentic restaurant with breakfast, brunch and dinner options. You can eat best samples of traditional Kurdish cuisine. Strongly recommend Kurdish breakfast! Staff were super friendly!
Delicious food and awesome ambiance! The plates are definitely shareable! The staff were very hospitable and helpful in choosing some of their most popular dishes. We ended up having the chicken and lamb which were both flavorful and super delicious! The sampler is good, I have personally had better but it is still worth a shot! You must check this place out it out!
Had breakfast here today for the first time and it was an excellent experience! We ordered the Kurdish Breakfast for Two, the Baklawa crepes, and the fig and walnut pancakes. We also had the Kurdish coffee and tea too. Everything tasted delicious. Seriously, I'm still dreaming about it right now. Everyone who served us was very kind and attentive. We can't wait to come back here when we're in Chicago again someday!

I've dined at The Gundis Kurdish Kitchen for brunch several times, and each visit has been consistently delightful. The attentive and helpful service has always stood out. The Kurdish breakfast set is a must-try, with its amazing flavors complemented by a tasty black tea. And if you have a sweet tooth, the baklava crepes are a true delight. I've never had a bad experience here, and I highly recommend it for a satisfying brunch experience.
Kurdish restaurant...similarities with Turkish and Greek style...food quality is amazing...very tasty...wine options available...local Kurdish drinks avialble...service is excellent...atmosphere is excellent..cozy place..owner is from Mardin..wife is American..both touches can be observed. Lamb shank is my favorite..several times I have been
I tried many of the dishes...nothing to complain
The staff are very attentive, kind and hospitable. Second time coming here and the food is truly delicious. We had the hummus, lentil soup, lamb shank and honey salmon. All were unique and very tasty!!! Definitely look forward to coming here again.
Wow š š š really good place trying for first time and everything was really good. Food , service, friendly people. We are planning to come back again. Thanks
This is a real feast! Authentic Kurdish cuisine served in a touch of style. Everything is so delicious. We tried two different styles of lentil soups and appetizer platter. Also had plenty of meat. All succulent and delicious! (There is also a decent selection of seafood and vegetarian plates). Last but definitely not least, finish your meal with freshly brewed blend of black tea. Thanks to all friendly staff of Gundis!!!
The stuffed Chicken with rice was mouth watering, stuffed with spinach and cheese sounded by rice with a sauce added in was so craving. I think after the first bite I didn't want to share though my wife had the same plan, the Lamb shank was also good but I would come back for the stuffed chicken. Atmosphere was very nice and staff was superior.
Will be back soon, price is not to bad for a dinner date.
we came in for dinner and had a LOVELY time. the servers are kind. salad was amazing ā had a bright dressing that i couldnāt place but loved. the chicken was moist with a slightly spicy sauce that i loved. and there were cookies and tea for dessert! will def come back, next time to try the brunch!
Really delightful and unusual brunch option in Chicago. Such variety for the Kurdish breakfast! And everything delicious and fresh. The wait staff is almost entirely young, Middle Eastern men and they are all at the top of their game. It's a little on the pricier side coming in at about $30 per person, but it's a nice treat
Upon entering the restaurant, youāre immediately greeted with a gracious hostess. When we arrived, there was no wait which is great!
Our waiter was prompt in greeting us and providing us with water and taking drink orders. Shortly after, we placed our order for the Kurdish breakfast for 2. The food came out quickly and was fresh. The best part was that it was delicious! There is a variety of options to try. The portion size is huge and could probably feed 3-4 people.
I would highly recommend this restaurant for its service and unique breakfast options. It also caters to many dietary restrictions. We would come again!
Iāve had Gundis on my list of places to try for a while now and I was so excited to finally be able to stop by. Right of the bat, the restaurant was clean and bustling. The waiters and staff were welcoming and friendly. We were a group of 4 and we ordered the Kurdish breakfast with Soujouk scramble. I will say, overall, the pricing is ridiculous. The Kurdish breakfast is $60 for two people and an additional $12 fee to share with a third person. The breakfast itself came with scrambled eggs with sausage and essentially a bunch of jam with a few olives. When looking at photos prior to coming, I thought it would at least include some hummus and baba ghanoush or something. The hummus and halloumi cheese pictured were extra. Even the bread basket barely had any bread and included mainly crackers. The food itself was delicious. The soujouk, hummus, and cheeses were delicious. Our waiter recommend we get the baklawa crepes because it would be cheaper than the fee for sharing the breakfast. They were a pass for us. I think if they either lowered the prices or just included some basic breakfast items into the mix, it would be perfect
Everything was so flavorful and delicious! Loved the appetizer sampler. Veggie stew was good, but not amazing. Would probably order another main dish next time. Super friendly service and nice vibes inside. Iāll definitely be back.
Delicious baba gahnoush! So was the lamb shank, tender, juicy and easily off the bone. I also loved the roasted vegetables in each entree. Our waiter was very welcoming and attentive!
Came for dinner and the food was just delicious - generously portioned, perfectly seasoned and beautifully plated. Loved the space and the service was great too. Started with the appetizer sampler, warm bread, delicious plate all around. For mains I got the eggplant stew with lamb - so good!! My date got the stuffed chicken, the sauce was creamy and paired amazingly with the rice. Kurdish tea and cookies for dessert. What a wonderful meal. Highly recommend!
