Had a private party at the library room at Topolobampo. Very tasty food in a nice ambience. There is a nice mirror that shows the food being prepared. And it is apparently the largest library of Mexican cookbooks in the country. Food was tasty though portion size was a touch small. Staff is friendly and location is very central. Happy to return.

Exceptional. We attended Topolobambo for the first time for their Day of the Dead menu. From the service to the wine selection to the tasting menu, every aspect of the experience was phenomenal. We were thrilled to see Rick Bayless present and speaking with patrons. Some highlights for us were the Pipian and the (off menu surprise) machaca tacos. Highly recommended.

Experienced "The Art Menu" and it was delicious from start to finish. "Puesta Del Sol" course was my favorite, but each was as visually stunning as they were tasty.

Really nice spot hidden within frontera. The service was excellent and the food was top notch. Really enjoyed the wine pairings as well. Did a really good job with dietary restrictions (pescatarians and vegetarian) so would highly recommend on those fronts as well. Will certainly be back.

Topolobampo is a must try in Chicago! The experience from beginning to end is incredible! All the dishes are flavorful, well balanced, yet still tastes like authentic Mexican food. There were only a couple of dishes that were slightly oversalted, but we still ate everything. I highly recommend adding on a drink pairing with your meal. We had a total of 6 courses paired with 5 wines. The selections were spot on and enhanced each dish. The atmosphere itself is very relaxing. The wait staff were attentive and kind, which made the evening more enjoyable. If you have dietary restrictions, still try to go! Our dinner party is always a challenge since one person is vegetarian and the other has both a tree nut and seafood allergy. The chef was able to accommodate all our dietary restrictions without compromising quality. I could go on and on about all the wonderful aspects of this restaurant. I am definitely recommending this place to everyone I know- it's worth every cent we paid, and more! I plan on coming back again in the future!

An elegant set dinner in a beautiful space. Overall, my brother and I enjoyed the six-course meal, made up solely of ingredients from the pre-Columbian world. However, while the dishes were incredibly flavorful and bold, I found the absence of dairy and sugar resulted in an unmet need for something to offset the savory flavors. Moreover, the pacing of the meal was very slow - it took 3 hours to receive all six dishes. This didn't seem to bother other patrons, but I felt the pacing could definitely have been improved. Of all the dishes, my favorites were the quail (incredibly tender!) and the chocolate dessert. The scallops & octopus were also well cooked and delicious. The only dish I didn't care for was the peanut cake - the flavors were fairly boring. I'm glad to have tried Topolobampo, though in all honesty, given the amount of food received for $200, I would be more likely to recommend other set dinners in Chicago for a better value.

Experience was great! We had to wait a little but they took care of us for that mishap.

We went here for a pre-columbian tasting menu, featuring ingredients from Central America prior to the Spanish colonial period. The food offered unusual tastes that you probably have not encountered. The flavors are generally creamy but light with a hint of spiciness. The service was quite good, though a little slow. The ambience inside the Topolobampo area (it's connected to its cousin Mexican restaurant) is warming and comforting, though a little small. Given the price, it's worth a try to get an experience of new flavors. Note that they change the menu quite often, so it's worth checking with the restaurant before committing to the reservation and deposit.

Best Mexican fine dining in the US. Novel ideas with Mexican ingredients, culture, and skills! Visited a few times for their seasonal tasting menu.

The dining experience was phenomenal. Each dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were vibrant, and the portions were perfect. (Well, it was definitely enough food — but the flavors were so great, we found ourselves wishing there was more, and trying to savor each little crumb.) And their mole, with the 28 ingredients, is amazing! I’ve never really been a fan of mole, but Chef’s mole has definitely changed my mind. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants in the city.

Outstanding staff and food that, one can tell, has been made with a burning passion. We had the Dia De Los Muertos Oaxaca menu 2021 with the wine pairing. Every single course was exquisite and the presentation was extraordinary. I would certainly recommend for those looking for an authentic Mexican food elevated, yet true to its roots.

My first-ever michelin star experience! And I wasn't disappointed at all! The taste is just amazing! Do try the Duck Carnitas (the meat is so soft it'll melt in your mouth) and Pollo en Pipian Verde! Photos attached: tequitos, pollo en, duck carnitas

Beyond amazing. In my top 5 restaurant experiences. Gluten-Free substitutions barely needed and gracefully made. We did the wine and Agave spirits tasting. So much flavor in each bite. The staff was wonderful and the pace of the meal was perfect, 3 hours total.

My wife and I came for launch. The staff was very nice and warm. We decided to take one tasting menu and add several dishes, and were encouraged to to so. Everything was perfect- all the dishes were delisouse and complemented each other. Even the drinks we got were excellent.

Never being a big fan of South American food but don’t mind to give it a try once in a while. We sat at the bar and it quickly filled up by 6:30pm in Friday night. How’s the food? I will give it like 4.5 as the missing .5 star is because I am not so into Mexican food but I do think they do a good job of mixing western and Mexican food together

We tried Topolobampo’s Topolo At Home menu and frankly were blown away by it. To begin with, the “production value” was very high. A lot of care went into packaging very ingredient, and the provided instructions were clear and practical. They also included a link to a video with playing instructions, and a link to an accompanying Spotify playlist. This was not a ready to eat menu, every course required preparation and plating, but that ensured high quality and freshness. Every course was great in its own right, but the ceviche and the crêpe cake stood out as absolute highlights. My only complaint is that the piece of cake was very small... I’d love to have twice the portion :)
