Initially, I was looking for another cafe to have brunch after a morning walk down Magnificent Mile. As I was walking, I overheard two people talking about how good the brunch was at Beatrix. Never one to pass up random unsolicited advice I hear in passing, I decided to detour to Beatrix. Glad I did.
The place was packed to the gills , so I was expecting a long wait but after about 7 - 10 minutes we were seated. The ambiance inside is very active and lively. There was an air of business but not chaos. The space is bigger than it appears from the outside and even from the entrance. As you enter there is a bar/bakery area and to your left is a much bigger dining area, still very much packed. The entire restaurant was very clean and the tables were spacious and sturdy.
Our waitress immediately made us feel at home, making a few suggestions and answering any questions we had. I ordered a Latte. Water was brought to us and our coffee shortly thereafter. I ordered the Chimichurri Steak and Eggs. The place was busy so I expected a short wait on the food but it wasn’t too long. We enjoyed sipping our coffee and conversation while waiting. The steak and eggs were good. They weren’t spectacular and about what I expected. The portion of steak and hash browns were a bit small in my opinion but nothing outrageous. The toast and the chimichurri were fine as well. It was a decent breakfast/brunch for what I paid.
Beatrix was a nice spot to sit and visit while having a cup of coffee. I liked the ambiance. It was vibrant but not annoying. It’s definitely a place where people go to get together. The food is not spectacular but it’s also not disappointing either. I would go back and eat there again when I visit Chicago again.

Stopped for lunch. Had the whipped feta, brussel sprout salad, and the short rib sandwich. Good was really good. Happy we shared the lunch portions. The old fashioned was good. Service was good. Would definitely go back.

The atmosphere was very nice and relaxed. They were very clean and organized. I was by the kitchen, so I saw the dishes come out and them changing their gloves and wiping things off. They had a whole system to keep the food coming out. As soon as ours was done, I saw them get it together and bring it out. No food sat there for a minute. The lemon pancakes were really good. I wasn’t sure if the pancake would have that much of a lemon taste but they were just right. The French toast was good, though a little crisp on the edges. I would definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed my time here for breakfast. I had previously been once for dinner, which I really loved the vibe then, but my meal (parmesean chicken) wasn't anything to write home about. But today, while my breakfast was simple, it was perfect and delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. I also love the curtains separating the rooms.
I ordered the eggs any way, which I had scrambled with bacon, toast and hashbrowns, bottomless coffee and a side of sliced tomatoes and avocado. Very tasty.

amazing experience at beatrix! we went for lunch around 1 pm and it was definitely worth it. my absolute favorite dish was the cauliflower mac and cheese, it was flavorful and a really nice texture. the honey glazed friend chicken sandhi chicken and almond salad were also really good. i would definitely recommend heading to the cafe section and grabbing a drink and a pastry. i got an iced chai latte and a pumpkin cream cheese coffee cake and both were delicious.
the overall vibe of the restaurant was good and the service was pretty decent.

Great food, phenomenal service. Love the vibes. We had steak and egg, honey chicken sandwich (love the spicy dip). And very yummy sugar bacon. Our server was very efficient, appearing just when we are ready.

The seafood dishes we ordered were delicious. The atmosphere is vibey and location is pretty spacious. Friendly and attentive staff. Definitely would return for breakfast or lunch!

We hosted our rehearsal dinner here for our wedding and the team did a great job at making the space work for our group. The food was very good and the cocktails nice too. We really enjoyed the space and our guests had great things to say as well. Our only constructive feedback would be that the bar service was a bit slow at times- there was 1 bartender for 35 guests and the drinks were too slow to come out.

Great breakfast options. Was surprised to see the egg come square on the sandwich but it was very delicious. Lemon ricotta pancakes with were the star of the show. I can see what people are saying in other reviews about them being “eggy” but no more than typical ricotta pancakes imo. Lemon syrup was great as well. Nice environment overall.

My parents and I dined over lunch after a visit to the MCA. Great atmosphere and service. Food was perfect- I’d definitely eat here again! Fish tacos and brussels sprout salad were delicious!

So sad I didn’t find this restaurant when we arrived in Chicago a week ago. I would have eaten here everyday. Thankfully I found it on our way out so I’ll be back next time I’m in Chicago. Hubby and I had an amazing breakfast. He had the chicken tinga and a blueberry and basil juice, I had the tasty shakshouka with poached eggs and fresh squeezed orange juice which hit the spot perfectly. The coffee was very tasty, even if mine is mostly cream 😁I highly recommend this to everyone but be sure you make a reservation.

Lovely lunch with ladies. We were able to get seats quickly, even with lunch rush. The service was slow at times and not very attentive. The food and drinks were amazing. I had the Pour Decisions drink 🍷. Very light and refreshing. Definitely recommend.

Stopped here for breakfast at around 9am while visiting Chicago. Was in love with every aspect of this place! My party enjoyed the fact that we could get excellent coffee and cocktails all day. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and our server was knowledgeable and courteous. Only thing was our server forgot to put in my cold brew order and when I reminded him he brought the wrong one. Overall, I don't mark that up as a big issue as it was easily remedied. I recommend making a reservation as there were not a lot of people when we got there, but it was packed by the time we left. There's grab-n-go options as well, so even if you can't find a seat, I love that you don't have to leave empty handed.

I wish I could give a positive review - I loved the food, and my server was great. But the server who brought food to the table behind me spilled sauce from a plate onto me, my purse, and my chair. She apologized, but then didn't bring a rag, didn't bring me a fresh napkin, and didn't come back to check on me. In fairness they were busy, but it was still poor service.

Excellent food and service everytime I come to any of Beatrix in the city, even though I haven’t tried the West Loop location yet. The absolute best Burger I’ve ever had! It’s the lightest burger in the world, that doesn’t leave you sluggish and heavy. I don’t know how they do it. Everything else here is excellent as well. Looking for a weekend to come back to have the lemon pancakes at brunch! Crazy good!

great brunch! Ample seating, menu has plenty to choose from while not being overwhelming. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the server was attentive but not obtrusive. Loved the fresh juice options! Glad they take reservations.

We had a great server who was very patient and friendly with our two grandchildren. The room is warm and well-appointed - casual vibe, but cloth napkins (thank you!). I had the mushroom braise with cauliflower mash. The best mushroom dish ever! Rich enjoyed the burger. Kids like pasta with cheese, but we had to ask for more of the mildly-flavored Parmesan.

That was the Best buffet variety place I have ever been too. The choices were overwhelmingly exceptional. I was one happy tummy when I left there. I recommend them to anyone who's hungry :)

Had brunch with friends today. Food was excellent from breakfast to an awesome redone Caeser salad with Salmon. Kevin took great care of us and Chelsea our server was amazing! Will return because good food plus excellent customer service is EVERYTHING!

Fantastic food! Love that it's so affordable and located right in the hospital, too. The hot bar option was terrific and the vegan oatmeal cream pie melted in my mouth. Will most definitely be back.

This place was lovely. The atmosphere was very romantic, the drinks were unique, and my husband's burger and my Chicken Bebe was delicious. I highly recommend it to anybody going on a date in Chicago.

I was visiting the city and a family member in the hospital. Their grill and ovens were not working but I had an excellent crispy kale salad. And the server filled my Yeti with a to-go iced tea!

The waitress and manager were so accommodating they brought two ice teas to the table instead of one and even though they made a mistake by bringing both they only had us pay for one. The food was amazing and we will definitely be back.
