Gilligan's

This evening we had dinner with our family. The food was good and waitress was so kind and prompt. When checking out, my parents (who are retired and were excited to pay for their kid’s dinner) tried to use a $100 gift card given to them as a gift for Christmas in 2021 and their debit card for the remainder of the balance. The waitress returned and informed my parents they could not honor the $100 gift card, as it was issued under the previous owners. She was very apologetic which was appreciated. We asked to talk to the manager just to see if there was anything he/she could do for my parents. Sadly, discussing the situation with the manager was extremely disappointing and disheartening. A few of us in our family have been in the service industry for years and would never dream of what the manager did… She said she couldn’t do anything for us and nor would the new owners. She also laughed when we said we would leave a review. I feel saddened for the new ownership, that they have manager(s) that A. Do not believe in their ownership B. do not have a manager with creative problem solving skills C. Doesn’t give genuine apologies D. Have many day to day obstacles to deal with but have to put out fires due to a manager(s). I left a 1 star as you cannot leave a zero. The new ownership is more than welcome to connect with me as I would be happy to talk about how their manager belittled him/her. $100 now is thousands later with local loyal customers. I would hate to see that money lost for the new owners due to one manager but we will not be supporting Gillian’s if this is not remedied.

Went there for lunch the other day. Literally the only customers there at the time and we stood there waiting to be seated, or even acknowledged for several minutes. Food took almost 1 hour! I can't imagine how long it takes when they have more than 1-3 tables ordering food. Food was cold. Taste was awful. They have tried too hard to be creative with their menu and make everything with tropical themes and flavors and it doesn't work. The chicken sandwich had coleslaw and tartar sauce on it... Why..? Our cheese curds and fries were pale and undercooked. We were done eating and sat there waiting on a bill again for a long time. So I stood at the register waiting for staff to see me for another several minutes. I'm not sure where the staff is while they have customers but this is unacceptable. Waste of time and waste of money. Their side salads were good and that's about it.

Poor service. Ridiculously expensive beverage. $13 for a burger with no sides, no bun. And I had to pay an extra $1.50 for lettuce, tomato and onion. Mind you, my burger came out with ONLY lettuce, tomato and onion when it was supposed to be a specialty burger with bacon, cheese and other toppings. I obviously had to send it back. My darling had the "special". I believe it was ribs and a side. We were absolutely, ridiculously disgusted with Gilligan's. Our bill was almost $70, for absolute trash. Had it been a decent experience with great food and beverage, I probably would not have minded as much. This was a Sunday afternoon/early evening. If this is the service and quality they put out then, I would CRINGE to be there in a busy Friday night.

I love this place. Every time I visit Chetek, I have to stop here at least once. They have great cocktails and a fun atmosphere. The bartenders are always so nice and super chill. There is a nice outdoor area that is right on the lake. New owners recently. The cocktails are still amazing. The food is ok.

A warm sunny day at the lake spent listening to music in the Tiki area. It was a chill vibe but service was very slow and seemed to cater to regulars. After waiting for awhile, the bartender left to help another person in the middle of speaking to me and taking my order. The process of ordering food took forever, and about an hour for it to come out once we ordered. It wasn't overly busy but they seemed understaffed so I'll assume it's due to that. We ordered wing baskets with onion peels which were pretty tasty, so besides the wait and general off-putting experience with the staff, Gilligan's was just fine.
