Downtown Deli

This afternoon we visited Jason’s Deli in Chesapeake Virginia. If I could give this location no stars I would. We had ordered our food along with waters. I had asked for a lemon wedge for my water. The sales lady brought us our food and gave me a “quarter” of a lemon wedge so tiny I was shocked. Then she left. We realized we weren’t given utensils for our food. I walked to the front counter and requested spoons for our yogurts. I sat back down and mid way we needed napkins and so I walked back out to the counter asked for napkins and was provided napkins. My thing is they were pretty dead in the store why weren’t we provided utensils and napkins when served our food? This is a food service correct? After we finished we wanted a taste of ice cream. I went up and asked for a small container for ice cream. I was given. We got ice cream and it had tasted weird. I tried again and I could taste the cream was acidic along with taste sour. I smelled the ice cream and it too smelled sour. I immediately threw away and the person I was with explained how she overheard another customer earlier near the ice cream say how it had tasted awful. I walked up to the salad bar for the second time after to grab a mini pumpkin bread muffin they had. As I grabbed the salad bar Tongs I was yelled at from across the store to stop and that I’m not aloud to take from the salad bar. The lady came up and took the tongs from the bar, the one I had grabbed to take a small pumpkin muffin bread. I then told her that the vanilla ice was sour that we threw ours away. All she said was okay and turned to walk away. We then left after being yelled at by the sales associate as I didn’t want to cause a scene. She had dirty blond or light brown straight hair, young, I think she wore glasses, thin, semi tall, and she was Caucasian. This was around 3:30pm. We had never been treated so rude at that location as we went there often. After today’s visit 12/26/2020 we will NOT be back and will ensure to spread the word.

Jason’s deli on EDEN WAY in GREENBRIER is amazing. I live close so I’m over there a lot more then I probably should be. But they are great. Ordering process is easy. They DO SOCIAL DISTANCE! Which is also awesome. Every time I’ve been there I’ve never seen any of the workers without gloves or masks. Highly recommend! They have something for everyone, even VEGAN options. There is a children menu. An amazing salad bad (because of COVID you select the items and they make it). They even offer a free drink with MILITARY ID. I also order online from here and my food is always ready within 10 minutes. Soup, salads, amazing sandwich options and even some choices for your sweet tooth.

This used to be my favorite restaurant until today! I ordered and the cashier rang up my order incorrectly. I didn’t realize because my husband paid and I couldn’t see what she was ringing up. They bring out half a sandwich instead of a whole. I tell her that there was a mistake. A manager (I believe) comes over and brings back the sandwich to say she’ll make the other half and I should just take this half now. I said I would wait for it to be made correctly. She proceeds to argue with me about it. I shouldn’t have to explain my OCD to her about why I want it that way or that it’s traveled back and forth across the restaurant several times now. I sat and watched my family eat, because I was done having her tell me what I should do.

Jason's deli is a good restaurant if you are looking for an extensive salad bar. I haven't tried to many of their other entree options but I got the chicken Alfredo today and it was pretty tasty. Not the best chicken Alfredo I have ever had but definitely not the worst either. It was filling and good. My daughter got the Mac and cheese kids meal and it didn't seem very impressive, because it pretty much looked like it came out of a Kraft Mac and cheese box, but it wasn't too bad. My wife got the salad bar and she enjoyed it very much! The complimentary ice cream for those who get the salad bar is a nice added touch and incentive to pick the salad bar.

Just got takeout from the Chesapeake, Va location. Our cashier, Elyse was very helpful. We wanted to get something vegetarian for my daughter and she said they can make most dishes vegetarian. So we decided to order the chicken Alfredo without the chicken. My daughter loved it. I got my new favorite, The Carmela. Every time we order from here it gets better and better.

Do not like going here anymore since every time I get my order it is not good at all. I live in chesapeake but would rather travel out of my way to go to the one at town center in Virginia Beach. I ordered penne pasta & meatballs with cheese added to it. Well when I got home instead of the cheese cooked on it the cheese (cold) was placed in a small container. So I had to reheat my dinner up. This is Not the 1st time I have been disappointed with that location. They really need to get it together or just close!
