So here's the deal from beginning to end I walk into the store and I love the Smoky smell. That's a dying sensation in most barbecue shops that I've been in lately. I ordered the Big Pig because for a dollar more than a regular sandwich why not and it was about 3 in of meat in between the Buns which is huge. Definitely a great value in my book and the bag and the sandwich smelled amazing., my sandwich tasted amazing. Juicy, well seasoned, and a little tender the meet without the barbecue sauce is seasoned just slightly on spicy side while being very mild in nature. but the reason why I'm giving it four stars is for me there was certain things that were missing. I prefer a more sweet brown sugar sauce and the only two options available were spicy and tangy. The other aspect is I prefer a Toasted buttery Bun, it's a thing that's rarely done anymore but for some reason when it's done I get extremely excited. Just for reference my childhood memories of barbecue is from Mississippi so I kind of don't consider this a fair review because I think it's heavily biased but I want to make this as honest as possible

I was just trying to find a quick lunch and then I stumbled upon a diamond in the rough. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with macaroni and Cole slaw. The meat was delicious and juicy! The Mac and cheese was amazing! I'm usually not a fan of coleslaw, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was really good!! The prices were decent and the owners were very nice. It's the perfect spot to grab lunch, especially if you're in a rush. I got my food very quickly.

GO LOCAL! Absolutely the BEST BBQ and sides we have EVER had. Just catered a party for 20 and everything was fabulous. Truly - all the guests commented on how excellent everything tasted. Would HIGHLY recommend Southside BBQ & Catering for ANY event if you are looking for that true southern tasting style food. Prices reasonable, portions large! We will definitely travel from Virginia Beach when we have catering needs again! Thank you for your wonderful food - we love supporting local small businesses that provide excellent service to the community.

Never even knew this place existed glad I found it ordered my lunch and my bosses to be picked up 1155 and was hot and ready and most importantly was cheap don't let prices fool you this place has amazing food at very affordable price and very pleasant staff one of my sides was green beans as always me personally use salt and pepper these things were seasoned so well it would have been a insult to put anything on any of this food I promise you won't be disappointed
