Chicho's Hickory

The staff are awesome! They were friendly and inviting. The restaurant is cozy and welcoming. The food is outstanding. The salads are above standard and are definitely the freshest of the fresh. The salads are also very well pronged. The garlic knots are "busin busin" as the kids would say. And the pizza! Xtra Large means extra large here! The sauce is exquisite, the ingredients are 😋 yum, and the crust is perfectly crispy and not thin! If you're looking for a pizza joint while you're traveling, take the extra 2 to 3 miles to travel past Chicho's Pizza! You won't regret it!

Today reminded me why I never go to this place.. one of the bartenders was nice, the other was rude.. pizza and fries took forever to make. I walked in with my two litte girls. It felt like they wanted no parts of kids in their establishment.. that's cool. Cause I'll never step foot in that place again.

Chicho's has opened a second location in Chesapeake and I've been itching to give it a try, especially since the my experiences at the other one have been miserable. After spending most of the day on Saturday working on a retro hardware project I stopped in here on the way home to order some carry out. First thing, this place is tiny. When you walk in the door you have to hang an immediate right and then a left to go into the dining area. There's a small bar on the left side and tables along the right wall. These are high top tables just like the old Cho's on Atlantic Ave at the oceanfront. There were a couple of people at the back end of the bar and a couple of the tables also had guests. The guys at the bar were drunk, which leads me to my second thing... It can get very loud in here. I'm sure that's because it's so small. The drunk guys were loud, and talking to a girl, I'm assuming one of their girlfriends, on speaker phone. The whole room could hear it. They were real classy. Anyway, a server named Kelly ended up taking my order. It was apparently her first day and she was coping with it. I let her know I wanted to order a pizza to carry out and a pint while I waited. Keeping it simple I ordered a large pepperoni with the famous Chicho's spicy sauce and for the brew I had a Devils Backbone Vienna Lager from the tap. They had 8 beers on tap by the way and there were other bottled options as well. My order took about 20 minutes and I sipped my lager and worked the apps on my phone. Once the pie came out and I paid the bill and was on my way. Just a note, on Saturdays they appear to have a $10 special on 2 topping pizzas. They were changing shifts and I overheard the new sever telling my server about that. She corrected the bill for me before handing it over to be signed. That was cool, she could have let it go and I wouldn't have been the wiser. All in all it ran me about $16 with the tip. How was the pizza? It was excellent. I took it home, dropped the box on the stove and opened it up... Plate loaded! Taste was excellent, and I do mean excellent. I was very happy with the pie. Will I be back, definitely and next time I may just eat in.

Bartenders are usually nice. I’ve ordered pizza from them and it’s always good. Tuesday night we decided to try something different and it was a disappointment. Chicken fingers were awful, very dry and no flavor. The french fries were disgusting, full of grease and the grease tasted burnt and old. And then the wings were actually undercooked, the bartender took them back and instead of apologizing or acknowledging they were raw, she said “they’re not raw because we pre-cook them on the grill and freeze them” .. ew.. sounds like an episode of kitchen nightmares…. When they brought new ones back out they were cooked all the way but all I could taste was the burnt and old grease. The bartender didn’t charge us for the wings and we still tipped her 30%, because at the end it’s not her fault. But the reason why we like to go to small businesses is not only for the support but more so because regardless of how slow the service is or how slammed the staff is, we expect the food to be amazing as well as the drinks, and this experience was the complete opposite.

Ordered from the centerville turnpike / Mt. Pleasant location because they are literally the only place that delivers to our house. Food gets here pretty quick (time estimates were correct). This is all normal for any restaurant or at least should be. What sets this place apart is how good their food is. Y’all the Cho Fil A pizza, oh dang. It’s the Lort’s Chicken sandwich as a pizza. We ordered 6 different pizzas, all of them were fantastic zero disappointments from Chicho’s. Order and enjoy, thank me later.

Pizza was crisp and tasty but service was slow. I think they forgot part of our order so we took some of it to go. We had 2 large pizzas, a personal pizza, 10 wings and soda with a tally of $70 plus tip. I love good pizza so I was pleased with the food, minus one star for the slow service. It seems as though the regulars know to order ahead and pickup to save time. My biggest worry is that seating is rather close, so 2 separate customers initially sat next to us but relocated once they realized how close we were. Staff and customers wore masks.

I never post reviews, but if I could give zero stars I would. The pizza was absolutely awful. You were lucky to get even one piece of the toppings on any given slice. Prevalent flavor was salt. Crust not fully cooked. Cheese had that taste it gets when it’s expired. Definitely will not be going back.
