Mackinaw's

The fifth star is in anticipation of reinstatement of their liquor license. I guess they behaved badly during the pandemic. Aside from that, it's a nice place for dinner. Closer to fine dining than most anything in the area. The service was great and the food was very good. I also enjoyed the atmosphere and the fact that it's in my favorite part of Chehalis. My wife enjoyed her chicken ravioli and I had a Pakistani style beef curry. I understand that the menu changes frequently. I'm looking forward to another visit.

We had 0 wait time to be seated although the restaurant was full, and the waitstaff wasn’t overbearing or chatty with us. They checked in to see if I wanted a refill on my wine🍷 and h20 the second it was low. The steak 🥩 I ordered was delicious! Was cooked exactly the way I had specified. 🥓 The company I brought went sour but not the food. The atmosphere is upbeat and convivial.

We usually celebrate our events in Seattle (live in Seattle and Winlock) due to food quality. Mackinaw’s was a great find in Lewis County. We started with the fondue, dipping bread, apples and sausage, more than enough for two. Our salad had a great plate color, good presentation. They have wonderful bleu cheese dressing (I like a little pear) but this was very good mix of greens. Our filets were cooked to perfection, mine was blue and hubby’s was well done. They added a bit of Garlic on top of our steaks. Potatoes were homemade and were good. Texture, presentation and quality were excellent. We will go here again without a doubt. I had no idea we had this gem in Lewis County, my steak was as good as Ruth Chris’s or Metropolitan Grill in Seattle. Fabulous find…

THIS REVIEW IS'NT ABOUT THE FOOD OR SERVICE: They lost their liquor license because they refused to follow C19 shut down rules. It's a tough one for me, I understand how difficult shut downs are/were/will be on businesses I just don't understand how someone could put money over protecting neighbors during a deadly pandemic. Especially when the government was throwing FORGIVABLE loans to businesses to cover their losses. Bottom line for me is that I needed a glass of wine & couldn't get one, so I left.
