Fast, friendly service. The food was presented very well, delicious and on the smaller size in terms of portions for lunch. We sat outside on the veranda overlooking Lake Chautauqua. We had a humus appetizer to start, then I had the watermelon gazpacho soup ($14) and my husband had the Chicago hotdog ($15). I had ice water and my husband had a coke. The only drawback was the food was pricey for what we ordered, but we paid for the view and location. $49+ before tip.
My server Marcy was terrific. She was attentive without hovering. She took time to describe dishes and told me items that she thought i would enjoy. As a first time guest, her info about Chautauqua was a blessing. My southern tier burger hit all the right notes w the reverie goat cheese playing off the savory meat. The roasted brussel sprouts w onion jam was delish. If visiting here...u must experience and ambience!
The food was simple, yet exquisite and flavorful! The wait staff were extremely welcoming, friendly, and accommodating.
Had drinks with my girlfriends. Bar open during off season 4-8pm in lobby of the hotel. Great time. Stop by and see Bartender Dennis.
Separate ratings ... Food was 4 stars, service 3 stars but I'm giving the benefit of the doubt. The food that was served for a Saturday night dinner and Sunday brunch was very good. Reservations desk is in confusion about what is going on. Call them directly and check the confirmation text for the correct date and time.we sat inside for both meals and watched some of the outside tables get drenched in a rain. I would go again ... But be warned about the bar. $15 cocktails are pricy and the bartenders are not skilled. Forgetting triple sec or simple syrup in a margarita is not excusable.
My server Erin was fantastic! I sat on the porch and was enthralled by the gorgeous view of the lake. I've been around the world and I've really never seen any place like this. It was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious; the chef really knows what he is doing. This is the easiest recommendation I've ever made to anyone looking for OUTSTANDING SERVICE, FANTASTIC FOOD, and an AMAZING VIEW!!!
Candice did a nice job on our table of 5 middle aged trouble makers, especially my brother in law who always challenges any server with orders of crazy amounts of condiments. " No I don't want a plastic souffle cup of steak sauce I want the whole bottle!" Pork chop was good, too full for dessert.
Went here for a soft opening. Excellent service, very friendly waiter who was able to help me in all of my confusion about the menu. I was very impressed with my appetizer, the tuna poke. However, the best part BY FAR was my filet mignon! It was cooked to perfection, and I can honestly say it was the best tasting piece of meat I've had in my life. After all of that, the baked Alaska desert was delicious. Although the prices were a little high, I did not mind, as the view overlooking Chautauqua lake was beautiful. All in all, I am very impressed with the improvements this restaurant has made over the years.
Finally got it right! We have been eating here once a week for the past 6 years..This year we are here 3 times. The menu was great with plenty of options--I ordered the trout 2 times it was that good. The stagg this year was spot on. We will keep our fingers crossed for next year. We loved the creme brulee and unfortunately it was taken off the menu
So wonderful to now have a place to have a drink by the lake in Chautauqua Institution. So glad they have extended their hours, too.
