Nice old diner ambience. Staff is friendly enough. Food was not good. Patty Melt was slathered in mustard (no mention of that on the menu) and had only six tiny chunks of onions. The burger patty was very thin and fried to the consistency of shoe leather. Breakfast ham was the exact same way. Omelette had an uncooked slice of American cheese plopped on top. Pancakes, french fries, and hash browns we're all very tasty.

Wanted to try this place for years, but it looked sketchy. Finally found a group who would go, and boy am I glad. Hamburgers at 6 am, customized the way to like them, tots so hit they melted porcelain plates, friendly service and SUPER cheap prices. And!!! and!!! They had a payphone!

We used to go often. We love hole in the walls. This one though it's now utterly nasty and they are just heating up prepackaged foods. It was terrible and the waitresses could not have card less if we got our food. So embarrassed to have taken house guests there.

I am having breakfast in this little cafe with all the old men on the south east side of Chattanooga.
A fellow fell on the side walk on the way in. His friends and his usual server went out to help him up. They had a cup of coffe waiting at his table.
No one made a fuss. It was clear that they were aware of his pride. I heard a few folks murmur that he had had a stoke a couple of weeks ago. His wife died at Christmas.
He’s been coming in here to have coffee for 20 years. Ever since he had retired.
The Hungry House been a local favorite for 37 years.
I love places like this. I love meeting locals. If you are ever in Chattanooga skip all the trendy skinny jean’s restaurants downtown and head on over to the local greasy spoon.

The grill cook is rude. The eggs on my son's egg sandwich were lightly cooked. He doesn't like them like that. He didn't eat it. I told the cashier that the eggs were underdone and the cook called us liars. Man what?!?!? Are you mad because you can't cook and someone called you on it???

Your standard diner/ breakfast fare. Staff were very nice and service was pretty quick for how busy it was. The food is actually cheap for what you get. $5-6 for a standard breakfast. Cooked exactly as requested. If we find ourselves in the area we will give it another try.

My family and I were down to see lookout mountain and saw this cute cafe and decided to stop and try it. It was my husband, myself, and my 5 kids ages 18-4. We walked in the door and as soon as the blond lady walked from behind the counter she rolled her eyes at us like it was a inconvenience to seat us. We would not have minded being split up but she didn’t even bother to act nice. I instantly decided NOPE!! We walked out. If you can’t even seat us without attitude you don’t need the money we were going to spend!
