Great food! I had a grilled mahi fish dinner with sweet potatoe hash and spinach, my husband had a steak with fries, and the kids had the mac n cheese with fries and a grilled cheese with fries. Everybody tried off everyones plate, everything was amazing! Super friendly staff and laid back environment. Little pricey but well worth it. Left super stuffed with leftovers and fully satisfied with experience! Plan on eating here again next visit to Chattanooga.
Traveling in the area and found this gem! Great food! Highly recommend the appetizer with pimento cheese spread and fried okra! Delishes! Services was great! Nathan was Southern hospitality personafied. Very friendly!
This is one of the best restaurants in the area. I love sitting on the patio and enjoying a tasty beverage. We have eaten here many times and never had a bad experience. The brunch on the weekend is very good as well. This place is worth going out of your way to go eat.
This location is great it you enjoy setting outside beautiful patio area and live music with Brunch. I had the BBQ chicken meal and the award winning wings. The wings had a awesome flavor just wish they where bigger. The Carolina BBQ chicken was sweeter than the wing but good non the less. Only down side was seating at the bar we normal have better service that at a table but felt like we was forgotten about had to ask for our food while other was served around us which is why they have a lower rating will take a break from going but will come back
Nice place for our first meal in Chattanooga. We opted to sit outside where there was live music. The food was good and a nice selection of wines. Service was friendly.
During our visit to Chattanooga, the sole purpose of it being to see Ruby Falls, we happened to eat at 1885 Grill. There were a lot of parking issues at Ruby and they asked us to come back a while after. We were looking for places to eat and Tejas came across 1885 Grill. I am glad we found this place. I have a lot of problems finding places which are vegetarian friendly. But 1885 has good vegetarian options!
We got here around 2.30 in the afternoon on a Sunday. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit out on that beautiful day. There was a musician playing country music and a few people dancing. This was one of the first times I felt that I was in the country. Almost all the tables were occupied and people seemed to be having a good time.
We got down to ordering and ordered:
Grilled Chicken Sandwich (My friend said it tasted good)
1885 Burger (My friend said that the burger was really tasty and the Creole Mayo added a nice flavor to it)
Shrooms and Grits (I had the creamy grits with mushrooms. It was extremely tasty. The first time I actually could enjoy authentic American food. It was topped off with capers, which added the much needed crunchy texture to the food)
The fries served along with the sandwich and burger was nicely done. Our waiter was very pleasant and helpful. Their service is slightly on the slower side, if you are wanting to have a quick meal, this is not the place for you. But, if you are looking to have a nice time with your friends and family, with good food, definitely head here. I recommend!
1885 has been on my list for some time and finally got some time to enjoy a nice summer dinner at this hyped southern coastal fare restaurant. The cool evening had drawn the patrons and even despite that we only had about a 20 min wait. Once we were seated we both were trying to take in the place, which seemed a bit confused and clunky in the arraignment of things. I felt the way the tables were laid out in the dining room was a bit off and on top of that there is a large drink station in the dining area that becomes a focal point, when clearly that area could be used for so much more. Speaking of drink station I felt that the bar drink station for servers was a wreck. They are all crammed into this confined space that seemingly would defeat the purpose of speed and efficiency.
Enough about that, on to the food.
I started out with the seared scallop appetizer and my wife decided on the crab cake. Mine was two perfectly seared scallops that had a smoky bacon flavor and topped with a orange liqueur sauce. The flavor was outstanding and the scallops were fresh which was a huge plus. My wife loves crab cakes and this was something to be loved. It was certainly something you would find at any coastal city and would venture to say that it is probably the best crab cake in Chattanooga.
For entrees I selected the fried shrimp and my wife went with the grilled salmon. The fried shrimp were great, not the best. Large, fresh shrimp in their cornmeal batter. hushpuppies were decent and the slaw was better than average. My wife and I both loved the salmon. It was topped with an herb compound butter that just soaked into the flaky parts of the salmon. It was really great and something to come back for.
Overall we were very pleased with the food and service at 1885. There is nothing but great things to come from a place like this that serves seafood that great.
One of my favorite places in Nooga. Excellent service, great patio, Sunday Brunch or Dinner. You can't go wrong with any item on the menu. Good date spot as well.

Pimento Cheese and Fried Okra. Delicious! The pimento cheese is so good, i had to buy a pound to take home... which they allow, btw.
Good but......... The decor and ambiance of the restaurant are exceptional but the food, while good was not on par with the decor. It was very bland. after adding salt, the flavors blossomed. The best item on the menu though is the very adult mac& cheese. Wow! That was awesome. I will go back for that.
Delicious food, tasted very fresh. I had the grilled trout and can't imagine how it could have been better.
Great food! They clearly make quality a premium here. Get the fried green tomatoes and cheese grits. They have good local beers too. Very impressive experience.
