Public Fish And Oyster

Absolutely loved this place!! I have never had raw oysters before and tried two fire lake oysters and fell in love. Food was delicious and we had a good time sitting at the bar and talking with our server John and Kirby! Kirby opened up so many oysters in front of us during our meal. We saw everything from behind the scene and knew that everything is freshly prepared! We ordered about 10 raw oysters and the oyster Rockefeller. I have got to say their oyster Rockefeller is definitely one of the best I have ever had. The hodgepodge was very delicious and all the seafood is was very fresh and juicy

My daughter and I wound up in Charlottesville by happenstance and have just fell in love with this town. Public Fish and Oyster has been an utter delight - so we had to go twice. If you have the chance, find a seat at the bar during happy hour. The service was fabulous, conversation with fellow guests wonderful. The cocktails, excellent bourbon, oysters, and lobster rolls were enough to get the wheels turning for a reason to journey back from Colorado. Thanks to all!!

Celebrated a birthday here recently and it was an amazing experience! I had made a reservation on Open Table and it only gave us the option for outdoor seating. When we arrived, they easily accommodated us indoors. The restaurant was busy, but everyone was very professional and worked quickly. The food was incredible! We got a dozen oysters, the classic moules frites and steak frites. Our server was awesome and made great recommendations (even snuck us some extra bread to dip in my leftover moules broth). Really great value for the quality of food you get! The moules were sweet and buttery and perfectly cooked (not rubbery at all) and my husband said his steak was perfectly cooked as well. We already have another reservation made! Would definitely recommend!
