We ate dinner here last night and everything was phenomenal! The drinks, the food, and the service were all top notch and beyond all expectations. I highly recommend this place and check it out before six for drink specials and all the raw oysters ever!!!
Loved this restaurant. We are visitors that travel with our dog so particularly when the weather is hot it is key to finding good places to eat that are Dog Friendly so our pup can be with us not shut in the car or hotel room. Public Fish and Oyster went above and beyond at making us and our dog feel very welcome. The food was absolutely amazing. I ate mussels and frites hubby ate sesame crusted tuna, and we also had a side of fried brussel sprouts, all was fantastic. Would definitely recommend to others travelling with pets and anyone wanting a great meal.
Absolutely loved this place!! I have never had raw oysters before and tried two fire lake oysters and fell in love. Food was delicious and we had a good time sitting at the bar and talking with our server John and Kirby! Kirby opened up so many oysters in front of us during our meal. We saw everything from behind the scene and knew that everything is freshly prepared!
We ordered about 10 raw oysters and the oyster Rockefeller. I have got to say their oyster Rockefeller is definitely one of the best I have ever had. The hodgepodge was very delicious and all the seafood is was very fresh and juicy

Great seafood pot. The seafood is fresh! They had great cocktails here. The cocktail drink Fashion Killer was great but my favorite drink and one of it's kind is the Sandinista. It tasted so good a good... coffee flavor with a bit chocolaty taste.
My daughter and I wound up in Charlottesville by happenstance and have just fell in love with this town. Public Fish and Oyster has been an utter delight - so we had to go twice.
If you have the chance, find a seat at the bar during happy hour. The service was fabulous, conversation with fellow guests wonderful. The cocktails, excellent bourbon, oysters, and lobster rolls were enough to get the wheels turning for a reason to journey back from Colorado.

Delicious lobster roll! Oysters were fresh and tasty. Service was outstanding! There was nothing our server couldn’t do. And all with a smile! Will be back for more seafood one of these days!
It was my first lobster roll. Their Maine style is the best with the side salad. I ordered a calamari as an appetizer and it was pretty darn good. Overall, it was a great experience!
The place was very noisy but the food was great. The oysters were fantastic. Drinks were delicious and beautiful. Everything that came out was done right
Great oysters and drinks. Friendly staff. Raw stuff excellent. Crab cake slightly salty but still good. Lobster rolls very nice. Been a number of times. Great ambience with indoor and outdoor dining. Tap beers, wines, cocktails.
Celebrated a birthday here recently and it was an amazing experience! I had made a reservation on Open Table and it only gave us the option for outdoor seating. When we arrived, they easily accommodated us indoors. The restaurant was busy, but everyone was very professional and worked quickly. The food was incredible! We got a dozen oysters, the classic moules frites and steak frites. Our server was awesome and made great recommendations (even snuck us some extra bread to dip in my leftover moules broth). Really great value for the quality of food you get! The moules were sweet and buttery and perfectly cooked (not rubbery at all) and my husband said his steak was perfectly cooked as well. We already have another reservation made! Would definitely recommend!
