Niyo Japanese

I stopped by this place on the way back from the post office not knowing what to expect. I ordered the shumai, an eel tempura roll, the crazy dragon roll, and a lunch portion of the honey chicken with fried rice. All the food was incredibly flavorful, and the honey chicken was incredibly crispy and sweet. Definitely some of the best honey chicken I've had based on the crunch factor alone. The service was friendly and efficient, and although food is served 'takeout style' (i.e. styrofoam cups, plates, plastic ware, etc), the food tastes delicious and the ambiance was laid back and comfortable. I feel that the location of this establishment holds it back from some potential, as it's hidden away in a small strip between the Goodwill and the post office. If you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend it.

NIYO has incredible sushi and hibachi. We order both often and it’s the best I’ve ever had. Also their Chinese doughnuts are life changing. Edit: 1 year later and my feelings remain. We ate dinner tonight and you can taste that special ingredient. That special ingredient I could only describe as love.

I've been a customer here for over 5 years. I've had take out, eaten inside, and even had a small birthday party there. This is by far the best sushi in Charlotte and in my humble opinion, the best tasting Japanese food is here also. It's a small, special gem of a place and you will leave full and happy.
