This is the rare place in Charlotte where your dollar goes a long way. The atmosphere, service and food make it worth every penny. I’ve eaten here enough both in-house and takeout that there is an occasional slip. But the people here always correct it promptly although it’s extremely rare that they need to do so.
Time after time, Portofino’s knocks it out of the park!
Mark and I ate lunch at Portofino’s. We both ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. Let me just say one thing; if you have not had this sandwich then you are missing out! This is the best Philly cheesesteak sandwich that I have ever had. So delicious! Martine waited us us and he was absolutely wonderful!!
Well it was surprisingly good. And they didn't charge you $1 extra for every thing. I got a chicken parmigiano with angel hair spaghetti. Also there are pepper mints at the front.
Just had dinner there. The personal pizzas are huge and delicious. The bruschetta was also excellent, The service was friendly and attentive. Special orders were no problem either.
Pizza was the best of what we ordered. The salads were not something I'd order again!! Bread was pretty good, but not likely freshly baked. We had lobster ravioli - not good, but the sauce was good. A chicken dish with vegetables - pretty good. Overall, it was good and we would go back again.

Mediocre salad, Tough Chicken Portofino, So-So shrimp parmegiana; better @ Riccio's. Accompanying linguini with Gorgonzola no match for Linguini Carbonara w Gorgonzola @ Mamma Ricotta.
The pizza alone requires a return visit; on par with the one @ Luisa's.
Lovely evening. The weather was beautiful, the ambiance was fine, and the food was excellent. I had a salmon salad and my wife had a shrimp salad. Both were truly excellent. That along with a couple of drinks made the perfect evening in a great neighborhood restaurant. Count me in as a regular when in on the south side.
Wonderful place for family gathering!!. My family recently had a much needed get together at Portofino's. Our group had 24 people and Portofino's accommodated our family so well in the front room. We planned our dinner in advance and went at a time we knew it wouldn't be that busy. The staff (especially our waiter Martino) treated us so well. The service was friendly and welcoming. They gave us everything we needed and the food is authentic Italian. The eggplant is peeled, tender and amazing!!! The house salad dressing is highly recommended. There was not one complaint among our party and everyone said their food was delicious. Our family plans to meet here again in the future. I highly recommend Portofino's!!!!!

Best Italian in Charlotte. Is the atmosphere especially great? No. Is there exceptional service all the time? Not particularly. But this place has great food. I've been going for about 5 years now and I love it more and more every time. Awesome pizza, huge pasta dishes and affordable wine.
Best meal ever in Charlotte!. I have family who have been living here for years as transplants and I have been looking for a good, Mom and Pop establishment that is not tied to a chain and has potential for a great experience. I'm pretty adventurous, so a mediocre dinner is not necessarily a turn off if certain things are right. Portofino's knocked it right outta the park, a real home run!
I had the veal pizzaioli, and tried several other entrees. Each one a winner!
One of the best local, family owned Italian restaurants I have tried in the queen city! Most entrees come with a salad and bread, which is a pretty good deal considering how cheap the entree is. The pasta here is really good. Will be coming back soon!

Best Italian food I have ever had!! Soooo good. The service was exceptional, my waiter was very polite, friendly, and prompt. I highly recommend this restaurant!!
This place is amazing! I discovered it and went for lunch twice in a week! Food is delicious and the service is fast and very friendly. I had the Shrimp parmigiana then the salmon piccata with raspberry cheesecake dessert all very delicious. I highly recommend if you enjoy Italian.
We were in town for the holidays and wanted to find a new dining option we could use as a potential go-to choice for great Italian food. Portofino's definitely made a strong case for being that choice!
The food was very well prepared, the flavors of each dish were on-point, the various pastas were cooked just right, and the staff really did a good job remaining cordial and attentive in apite of having to manage a full restaurant during an emotionally demanding time of year (Christmas season).
We look forward to coming back and trying other dishes in the future!

My husband and I were out on a dinner date and he chose Portofino’s restaurant. It was our first time dining here. Out experience was a bit interesting at first with the hostess. We requested a booth, but there was not one available for 25 minutes. We were ok with the first available table or booth. We just didn’t want to sit directly at the front door with the continuous flowing draft since we were both just getting over being sick. The hostess apparently misunderstood our request. Moving forward, our first impression was changed once our waitress Val took over. Val was very friendly, professional, and attentive to our table. We took her up on her food and drink recommendations. We ordered, garlic bread w/ parm for appetizer. Our meals were The Taste of Italy and Shrimp and scallop pasta. All of the food was amazing. It was fresh, piping hot and very flavorful. The food portions were hefty. The Italian Job cocktail was a good job for me..Lol, I couldn’t finish it all. The water was very refreshing and Val did not disappoint with her customer service.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, time, and service here. Casual, great quality with great portions. Nice ambiance on the covered or uncovered patio as well.
Thanks to Sam and his crew we had a very enjoyable birthday dinner. First off we got a reservation for a party of 11 on a Saturday night without any problem. We had a great table that accommodated our party. We ordered a variety of dishes and people sampled each others plates and the comments about the food was all good. The staff was very attentive checking our needs frequently enough to not be bothersome. We were able to eat a wonderful meal and have great conversation in a lovely atmosphere. Definitely will be back again.
The service was great. We made a reservation there for a family get together and they were fast with drinks and food. All of the food came at once and it was all hot and fresh. They checked on us multiple times during the meal for anything we needed like refills. We really enjoyed our time and the food. I really liked how they box your food up for you. (Different for me since I don’t tend to go to nicer places often) lol!
Outstanding Restaurant! Had Veal Parm (I asked for heavy sauce) for lunch with pasta. Sauce was great, cheese spot on, and the veal was very flavorful too.
