I've never had a real NY slice, but I think Benny Pennello's would represent the genre very well. The HUGE slices are everything one would expect from a NY style slice...gotta fold it and you'd better have a napkin or four handy. The sauce, cheese and any toppings marry extremely well. My wife and I 'split' 3 slices - one Pepperoni, one Sausage and one Mushroom and Garlic. Not only was I stuffed after about a slice and a half, I was delightfully satisfied - feeling as if I'd just had a meal more befitting a four-star restaurant than a local pizza joint. One BIG high note for me was the sausage. This isn't some ground up stuff out of refrigerator or freezer section of the grocery store. It's real sliced Italian Sausage and the notes of fennel and caraway are just right. Neither overwhelming nor too subtle. The crust has a wonderful crunch to it but isn't overly flaky as so many thin pies are these days. The crust has a 'toothiness' to it as well...not a one-trick pony...I got the great crunch of a thin crust and the heartiness more often associated with a more 'classical hand-tossed' style. The toppings are neither too much nor not enough - they marry very well with the sauce, cheese and crust so there's no 'overwhelming' tone. It's a harmony of the finest sort for pizza lovers. I would love to be able to order a pie with Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushrooms and Garlic but I don't know that they'd make one to that spec. I won't ding them on the rating for it either. I've been to most every thin / NY style pizza joint in and around Charlotte and Benny Pennello's is worth the trip every time.

It was my first visit. The pizza slices were huge. I can't imagine looking at a whole pizza on the table. The staff was friendly, as was the atmosphere. Definitely a place I will return to.

Best pizza in Charlotte. New York style. Enormous slices, bigger than your face.

Huge pizza 28" pies. They do a really nice job making what is a difficult think to cook. Pizza is one of the better in town. The pizza is also quite a conversation piece. Recommend.

Wow these slices are huge!!! The menu may be simple but the taste is amazing!!! Had to order the monthly special (bacon cheeseburger) and two other slices (garlic mushroom and pepperoni) to share with a friend. After eating two half slices I was completely full. The pizza is very flavorful and the cheese is powerful.
The service was quick and the atmosphere is divey. There were what it seems like only 3 employees in the whole place and everything seemed effortless. Looking forward to seeing what the other monthly specials are!!!

Good, but not amazing. I really enjoy a nice slice of greasy new york style pizza. I dont go in for the thick chicago stuff, and I dont really like it to be so thin its super crispy and crunchy. Should be right in the middle. With lots of cheese. This place was pretty solid, but it seems to me to be more of a place you go to after a long night of drinking rather than a place Im really hankering to go to on a regular basis. Wife and I shared a slice of pizza and one slice of artichoke/spinach which was a special at the time. Spinach seemed like thawed frozen, and I was expecting more fresh spinach from a place of this caliber. I have a soft spot for greasy new york style pizza and this fits that bill, one of the better slices Ive had in charlotte so I rated it quite high. Time will tell if I will return regularly or not.

Their pizza slices are enormous! They have a limited selection of pizza but that's ok because their plain is pretty good. You can get a beer while you wait for your pizza to cook which is cool and they have a good amount of choices which is always a plus. The dough is just not the greatest but that's because I grew up in the Northeast US and was spoiled with the best pizza in the country

This is a unique place. Nice inside, very busy, though. I wouldn't say the pizza is gourmet or artesian. But I will definitely say that they are huge! I mean huge pizzas or just the slice. The uniqueness of that makes up any difference in taste. Don't get me wrong, the pizza is just great for a party or meeting...needing to feed a lot of people, you can't go wrong!

My children insisted I leave a review before we were even done eating because, and I quote all three, "It's the best pizza in the world". We love how ginormous it is! They each ate one whole slice though :)

Excellent pizzeria in it. Downtown Charlotte, very famous for the size of its pizzas, if you are nearby it is worth visiting

Nice pizza joint in Noda, NC! If you're a heavy metal lover, you'll find this place plays a good variety of metal/hard rock tunes. The pizza slices are huge, tasty, and very affordable. Good selection of beers here as well! I loved all the artwork on the walls!

One of the largest pizzas I've ever seen! The slice comes on 2 paper plates! Although originally from VA. the pizza is a classic NY slice. Thin, foldable and just the right blend of cheese and sauce. Atmosphere is rustic and all paper and plastic utensils. Worth a stop and follow up with a brew at Heist brewery which is right next door.

Been going here for quite a few years. Pizza is always fresh, massive slices, and cheap. What more can you ask for.

I love going to Benny's. It has amazing pizza and I enjoy that they change the specials often. My fav has always been the Mac and cheese pizza. I love the variety of drinks they have because it's hard to find some of those pretty much anywhere else. As far as for kids, they have high chairs for babies/toddlers but my one complaint will have to be they don't have changing tables in neither of the bathrooms. So you have high chairs for babies but no changing tables in your bathrooms that doesn't make any sense. Hope you guys can fix this problem because I love Going there with the kids and so does the rest of my family.

The biggest pizza slices I have seen. Cooked very fast only the prices are bit steep for what you are getting. We got 2 slices and two drinks and paid more than 20$ with the tip. In some other place we could get a full pizza for that price. We definitely got overcharged for drinks. But pizza was definitely one of the best ones in Charlotte that I have tried. Also there was some half dressed person in the restaurant sitting by the table or running around somewhere, with all of his stuff lying everywhere as if he stayed the night there. Gave me weird feeling.

It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but the massive size makes up for it (pause), especially for the price. Got 3 slices and 2 drinks for around 25, and my girlfriend and I were both full after. Crust by itself was bland, as is the case with a lot of pizza places. Their sausage and Hawaiian pizzas were really good. GF said the pepperoni tasted good but was a bit light on the actual pepperoni. Plain cheese might be fire after a night out clubbing/drinking, but as I was sober, the flavor of just the cheese parts of the pizza wasn't hitting like that. Give em a 7/10, would come again. Also, my friend hyped em up before we came, so I might have been a bit over critical. Definitely go check em out. It's a pretty good place to eat.

3/17/2022 stopped here for a slice for lunch. I ordered one slice of the sausage pizza which was plenty to eat for one person! I also ordered a ginger ale in can drink ($1). The slices are huge and they taste great!!! I’m not a pizza connoisseur but this is pretty good pizza in my opinion. I would recommend stopping here for lunch or dinner. $8.05 including tip!
