Review South Of Philly Pizzeria - Charleston

Ordered a pizza and a side. We received everything in a timely fashion, however, tye order was incorrect for the side. I called back and they gave me a credit for the side that had been incorrect. We always want a great experience but it is always great to see what someone will do in a time where customer service is required to right a minor mistake. Very much appreciated and we will be ordering pizza a ton from here now. It was delicious!

Best pizza I have had since moving to West Ashley three years ago. Regret not trying it sooner. I'm hard of hearing and had a difficult time understanding on the phone. The girl was patient and courteous. Delivery was on time. Food was great.

This place is a hidden gem! I love the herb mix that is served with every pizza..!! It certainly gives a new flavor to the pizza that I love so much! Everything I have tried here is delicious, the pastas, the salads, the desserts... gotta try it :) customer service is always on point!

The food and customer service at this place are both amazing! My wife and I just ate here for the first time and loved it. The pizza was perfect and I would highly recommend the "zepps" (fried dough with any number of toppings), especially the Rachel's Way dessert ones! Be prepared for large portions, and don't expect "traditional" Italian food. You will not be disappointed!

Their calzones and pizza rolls are top notch and priced pretty good for the quantity of food you get. Their sandwiches are decent as well. We live a block away so we have eatin almost everything on their menu over the past year. No complaints at all on the food. (the store could be updated/cleaned some but not a deal breaker). Over all this a pretty good restraunt to order from.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch with a large group. Called ahead for multiple pizzas to be ready. Location is in a nice shopping mall with good parking. Pizzas were ready and very tasty. Good cold drink selection. A surprise dessert treat completed our meal perfectly

It's ok. Close to home, quick delivery, and decent food. The only draw back to this place is the staff is hit or miss as far as friendly goes. One of the girls that answers the phone is helpful and friendly, but the other one is way more interested in hanging out and not being bothered by work. Another downfall is the restaurant must be a bit older because it is very rundown and dirty looking inside. If I only ever ordered delivery and never saw the inside I would give 5 ☆

Love their pizza and zepps! Haven't tried anything else on the menu but they've definitely become our go-to pizza place. So good and last time they even wrote a little joke on the box for us (we didn't ask for it but it was funny!)

Super delicious! Very pleasant and employees are super respectful and welcoming! Was our first time here from Myrtle beach/wilmy area! Not only are they just welcoming, they are very attentive when they don’t have to be. This is a laid back restaurant and a great family place. Will definitely be back!

The staff is super nice. they bend over backwards to give you an awesome dining experience. the food tastes awesome great place for lunch or dinner or even a quick bite to eat I will be dining here often. :) my daughter also loves their food that's very rare LOL

I've been a customer of South of Philly Pizzeria for a little over 2 years now and coming from just north of Philadelphia PA, I've got to say that finding a GREAT pizza joint down here in Charleston was no trivial task. That said, I've ordered from South of Philly probably twice a month (or more) consistently since moving to the West Ashley a few years ago. I move next month and I'm really not looking forward to finding a new place to get my pizza from. Bottom line, this place has fantastic pizza comparable to just about any pizza you'd get in the northeast. My go to order is a large pepperoni with an order of 6 Zepps (highly recommend the Zepps as a delicious alternative to garlic gnots). A note to management if you happen to read my review... I've been ordering your pepperoni's pizzas for a while now and I'm going to be honest, the recent change to the pepperoni's themselves is not a welcome one. Not sure if it's a new supplier or just mixing things up, but the old pepperoni's were way better. Great service! The best cheese pizza I ever had! Will be going back! After trying 90 Percent of the pizza places around Summerville to Down Town this one has the best flavor so far, the crust is super thin and tasty. The cheese and sauce just great.

Delicious pizza! Best traditional flavor in Charleston! Great homemade spice mix to top it all off. Give it a try and you will not be disappointed.

I came into this restaurant because I love wings and enjoy trying different restaurants' wings. I ordered a dozen wings on my first visit. They were perfect so I went back a couple days later and decided to try the pizza too. I was blown away! That pizza was the best pizza I had eaten in a while. I have a 6 year old, so we are pretty much pizza experts.. Put delicious pizza and wings with fantastic, friendly service, and you have South of Philly!

Order a whole homemade sausage and mushroom NY style pizza what I recieved for over $18 was a few paper thin slices of what is called marinated mushrooms and a dusting of ground I think was supposed to be sausage. I have been eating pizza from Naples to Pizza Regina in North End in Boston this was terrible if they had just stuck to the basic they could had a good pizza dough is thin but a little underdone and cheese is not bad. It was so over seasoned and garlicky it was inedible and I trashed the rest. Never again they will not last long!

Love it!. I frequently order a plain cheese pizza from here and I love it! I enjoy the seasoning that they include with the pizza, and their ranch is very good! I've never had a bad experience with this place.

Great food. I have eaten here 6-8 times in the last half year or so and have NO compaints. Don't know what the previous poster problems were, but I've always received good service and excellent food! i've tried pizza, sandwiches, and specialty items, and they were all very good to great. I would recommend it to anyone looking for very good (unpretentious) food from a clean down to earth strip mall venue.

Average food, terrible customer service. The food was mediocre at best. Ordered the "famous" zepps and they somehow magically came to our table luke-warm. We got a pasta and cheese steak and I must say that I have made much better pastas at home, and got a sandwich identical to what we got here from Penn Station. This place was really nothing to brag about. <br/><br/>Then again, maybe the way that I felt about this place was influenced by the terrible customer service that we received. I was greeted by, without a doubt, the most rude cashier I have ever encountered in my life. So rude, in fact, that the guys doing the cooking behind her were practically speaking to me in sign language as if to say they were sorry for the way she was talking. Most restaurants would send out a manager after the way she spoke to me, especially when other employees witnessed this, also; however, there was absolutely nothing done about it. Even an "I'm sorry she spoke to you in that manner, we still look forward to serving you and hope you enjoy your dinner" would have sufficed. I didn't expect free food or anything extreme, but simple acknowledgement for the behavior of the face of this restaurant (the person who works the front counter that EVERY customer must communicate with) would have sufficed. Absolutely will NEVER go back to this place again. The only reason I stayed to eat was because I had a gift certificate. Never been so displeased with a restaurant in my life and I eat out 3-4 times per week, being sure to try new restaurants as often as possible.

WOW!. Loved our meal here. We had the chicken buffalo pizza and a tomato pie. Our teenage son loved the chicken buffalo pizza - wouldn't share any with the rest of us. That was fine though because the rest of us devoured the tomato pie. The tomato pie was hands down the best pizza we've ever had! The Zepps are amazing too.

Great experience.. I just came home from eating there with my dad. The staff were friendly and the food was outstanding. They had this thick crust that, at first, I thought would be a little heavy, but was amazingly light for what it was. They accidentally gaffed our order, but gave us a free slice of pizza to compensate even though we insisted it was no big deal. I've been here a couple of times before and can't recommend it enough.<br/><br/>Great value for the quality of the food, friendly staff, and an overall extremely pleasant experience.

Not as good as it was. I used to go to the location by Earthfare for their cheesesteaks before they closed. Thinking their other store would be the same quality, I tried this location. The Cheesesteak I received was drowned in a lake of watery cheesewiz. It was the most disgusting cheesesteak I had ever tried, and was surprised they even served it with so much wiz that it was spilling out the side of the basket. I could not bring myself to finish it, and wouldn't go back again.

My husband eats here least once a week and he raves about the food. today was my first time and i had an amazing philly cheesesteak. AWESOME FOOD

Not too impressed!. Pizza and Philly Cheesesteak are not so good! WAAAY TOO greasy. Service is very slow and staff is indifferent. Don't seem to want or appreciate my business.

Nasty nasty cheese steaks these people are frauds and either have never been to Philly or just feel they can get away with trash in the south. I'd rather order a cheesesteak from subway. 27 dollars for 3 cheesesteaks on hot dog buns wth. Then wouldn't deliver 2 slices with it. Horrible this places plain out sucks

Love it.. Never had a bad experience at South of Philly. Always delicious food, absolutely LOVE the Way Out Fries. Good sandwiches, pizza, zepps, etc. The original staff was more friendly than some of the current staff, but not really any complaints about the current either.

The worst!!!. I liked this place at first. Went again and the man behind the counter acted liked I was bothering him by ordering two steak and cheese subs. Ordered the subs and they cost 18 dollars! wow. Then we picked them up and got them home, they were dry, dry, dry... Not one oz of cheese on them. Two nasty slices of tomato stuck on top that we paid extra for . No juice , no sloppy cheese steak. Never again will I pay for these jerks to be rude to me, then have the worst cheese steak ever. Stay away from this place.

Pizza is Good, but not worth the hassle. I liked the slices I bought the first time, but they advertises they sell by the slice, but not most of the day. Went back again on two occasions., once aground 4pm and the second at 7om, and was told they were out of slices and were not making any more. So if you want to just get a few slices it is random availability. <br/>The fourth try they actually sold me slices, The 2 slice One-topping w/ drink special) but since I got one cheese and asked that one topping just be put with the second slice instead, It was charged for an extra topping still. So for them 1+1=3.<br/> I ti s too bad that they have good food, but business practices make you look elsewhere.

Good Pizza, Philly-Style Cheesesteaks, and Calzones. We've been here several times for pizza, philly-style cheeseteaks, and Calzones.<br/><br/>The pizza is pretty good for NY style, thin crust pizza - same thing for the Calzones. The philly style cheese steaks is one of the better ones in the area - rated first ever since DB Cheesesteaks is out of business. The staff is pretty friendly at the West Ashley site, decor is okay - kind of a strange layout for dining - but it's a cheap eats kind of place and not a fine dining with white table cloth.

A WIRE!!. Ate a pizza from the ashley river store and found a STEEL piece of wire baked into the crust.called to warn and no real concern on phone what if it was a parent calling having a child had consumed this wire?1 and a half inches long in the childs throut

Good pizza depending on the cook. I've eaten here plenty of times and it's good sometimes and great other times, depends on who's making the pizza. We typically order a Red, White and Green and the South Street pies, both are loaded with toppings. <br/>The prices are a bit steep but let's face it in this economy everyone's food costs have gone up. <br/>After having a nightmare experience at another pizza joint in town (just look at my reviews) I can say that this is the only pizza place I'll be giving my business to.

BEST PIZZA AROUND. We drive from summerville to get this pie. Every thing on the menu is great too.

Not that great. I ordered a Philly sandwich and fries with gravy eaarlier. The sandwich was nooo good. Completely lacked flavor. The fries were terrible...maybe some of the worst I've ever ever had. I feel like I wasted 13 bucks. Thanks for nothing South of Philly.

Used to be better but still good-edited on 8/2012. This used to be the best pizza in the area but has been disappointing for the past year. Delivery takes an hour on average sometimes longer and the pizza's cheese is hard from waiting around so long before it's delivered. They've even gotten our order wrong recently. I'm very disappointed in the change in quality of South of Philly. It used to be our favorite pizza but they just don't care like they used to it seems. --this post has been edited August 2012.

Very good but pricey. I live right near this place but don't go often because the pizza is expensive, its yummy and the ingredients are good but would rather go out to sit down restaurant for those prices

Good pizza if you like this style - and I know a lot if people who do! Much better than the generic pizza places. Supposedly soon to open in South Windemere too.

Best pizza slices. I had two slices of pepperoni pizza the other day for lunch. the were awsome the best i have since i moved herefrom the north almost 20 years ago...(2slice special w/soda 5 bucks)...the pizza maker "tim sang a prince song while i ate. and then did a little rap. very friendly stuff made my kids laugh.<br/>i will go back when ever i am in the area and in need of a taste of home.

It will do in a pinch. When I'm craving a cheesesteak, but don't want to go all the way to Summerville for Phillys (on Dorchester, they definitely have the best in the area), this place will do.
